Sit-com and/or semi-realistic drama slice of life pieces appeal to my manga tastes. I appreciate deconstruction fantasy/sci-fi manga as well. I expect realism and grittier content speaks to my personal experience, striking an emotional chord when compelling characters and their circumstances prove relatable. Manga of this nature enable an exploration into reflections of a reality I've encountered. In a reciprocal capacity, semi-realistic tragedies likewise offer a safe (secure in that the tragedy in question is recognized as fiction, thus the grief is diluted) exposure to help digest and potentially address future misfortunes we might experience. I suppose this phenomenon is basically a matter of building up a tolerance. Situated at the opposite end of the spectrum, cutesy, exaggerated sit-coms such as Yotsuba provide a mental escape for emotional recuperation. They're comfy distractions when desperately attempting to retain sanity amidst life's complications. Earnestly, a wide variety of sub-genres attract my attention, yet the aforementioned categories are fundamentally the types of manga I seek.

    That XXX rated stuff. ;)

No, but fantasy in general is all I really look for in reading and watching material.

Who doesn't want to escape from reality?
