    I know:

    1.- There's 2 protagonists on them all, one of the duo is a mercenary of sorts while the other one is being targeted by someone
    2.- The one being targeted has memory loss while the other one is a gunslinger, one of them is older than the other as well
    3.- All three anime are spiritual successors made by the same studio and by same director and licensed by same company
    4.- They seem to have a small hint of yuri in each of them

    You were right except for #3.
    If I recall ADV Films picked up Noir and Madlax before it went bust and FUNimation pick ed up El Cazador.

    May I ask why? I really don't see the hype for it...

    Anyaway, my favourites from last year:
    D-Frag! - Laughed so hard.
    Black Bullet - Science, darkness, catgirl. What's not to love? I of course noticed teh similarities to Attack on Titan, but this one was def's better IMO.
    Noragami - Now in place as my 5th-favourite anime.
    No Game No Life - Pushed Corpse Party out of my 3rd-favourite position.
    Akame ga Kill - Where do I even f***ing start? Catgirl, comedy, delicious darkness, amazing concept, loveable characters all over the place, and not afraid to kill people. Exactly what I've been looking for for quite some time. Gonna start reading the manga sometime. Sharing 1st-favourite position with Haruhi.

    Because it was good, why else? Teenage males trying to get revenge against the government for the secretive side that no one knows about. Darker, angsty, mind games and let's not forget my favourite thing it wasn't filled with "moe" little bitches. My only issues weren't even with the anime but the choices of the staff such as the terrible engrish of the Americans and how visually dark everything was. I hadn't seen a show like it in a while so it was a pretty damn nice change of pace from the people that eats up anything "moe".

    Meh. Too simple for my tastes. Would have been nice if they got any where near the standard of Death Note. Oh, and on the topic of Death Note, do you know of any other anime that have detailed stuff on someone murdering people and getting away with it? I've wanted more of that since that arc in Higurashi where MC kills that uncle guy or whatever.

    And yet I still loved it. Now when I get around to the manga, I'll have even more to love.

    Not really, I haven't come across too many mystery anime, well apart from a few supernatural mystery shows which have the already deceased murdering people so that doesn't exactly count.
    the only one that comes to mind is Monster, great show. A serial killer playing a 'game' with a doctor, if you know the show The Mentalist think something similar to that set in the past with themes of prostitution, racism, murder, psychological manipulation. I don't think it is quite what you are after, but 74 episodes of one of the most charismatic villains the anime medium has to offer and the doctor tasked with killing him in a cat and mouse game isn't too bad of an alternative right?

    That probably has to be Akatsuki no Yona. Even though it's still ongoing, it's looking like it'll be the second anime to get rated a 10 on MAL from me.

    But who knows. That could change easily.

    On Terror in Resonance
    Mafiacow, Super and I have been over this many times. Your taste = [​IMG]

    Terror in Resonance was the best (even though it's the only release from 2014 I have watched all the way through).

    Also I had to edit a post by @Sir-Maddy due to obscenities and offensive language on the last page. Whilst I do find some of your posts amusing. That post went too far for a public forum post...
