File this one under "Remakes that are sure to draw online fire". It's always tricky when people decide to touch the classics, let alone remake them. And John Hughes' 1987 road trip comedy Planes, Trains And Automobiles is right up there. Be afraid, then, for Will Smith and Kevin Hart, who are starring in a new version for Paramount.

The original starred Steve Martin and John Candy as a mismatched duo forced to become bunkmates and traveling partners in a desperate attempt to get home to loved ones for Thanksgiving after their flights are canceled. A slew of holiday travel disasters follow, and they mix like water and oil.
There's no director attached yet, but the script will come from Brooklyn 99's Aeysha Carr, while we'd figure Smith for the Martin role of the uptight Neal and Hart taking over John Candy's goofier role of Del Griffith, but with the new actors in the lead, chances are they'll change things up.

We now await the legions of "whhyyyyy?" and "Hollywood is out of original ideas" on Twitter and elsewhere.
