What Anime Are You Currently Watching / Recently Finished?

And now, I've finished Gintama episode 265, Gintama OVA and Gintama the Final Act, I'm just a few steps away from catching up to Gintama and I'll give the anime in general a 10/10 rating for a huge amount of comedy and action, I've also caught up with all new release anime and watched Shirobako Special 1, will watch a few anime now

 

I put Blood+ on hold and I've just about finished Is This A Zombie? I'll probably movie on to the next one afterwards.

High School DxD Born - Very cliche, boring ending. Before this season I loved Highschool DxD so I had very high expectations and this didn't live up to them at all. Between the art quality dropping, the lack of fan service, and nothing happening story wise this is a forgettable season that ultimately led to me liking the series a lot less. Hopefully the specials will make up for the lack of fan service. I'm still hopeful there will be a fourth season though because we need all the good ecchi we can get.

Sword Art Online II episode 15 - Finally done with GGO, I didn't hate that arc but I watch this show mostly for Asuna so her almost never being in the first 14 episodes despite being the main girl was really annoying. The new arc looks excellent but I accidentally read it was only three episodes, which is a shame because there is a lot of potential here. All the main characters are back, and they (especially Asuna) were very missed. There's still some things I don't like here, like Kirito blatantly flirting with Sinon in front of his wife and nobody saying anything or caring about it. Overall best episode of the season though. That Asuna bath scene I need more of that. Sword Art's already hated by anime fans might as well go full ecchi next season

 

I put a few anime on hold, completed a short anime, and completed Arusu so just the 6 OVA specials left for this series. I also completed Lupin III Part 1, now watching part II dub. I also found a place to watch Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou: Hobo Mainichi OO! Namappoi Douga on so now watching that. I might watch Birdy the mighty and the alternate version, Decode.

 

So, finally completed season one of Soul Eater & all I can say is THANK GOD THERE'S 3 MORE SEASONS OF IT DUBBED ON NETFLIX! !!!!!

 

I am currently watching Blood blockade battle front (Dubbed) and i am also watching Yu-gi-oh arc v (Dubbed). I have finished Yu-gi-oh GX, 5Ds, Zexal and also Watch World Break: Aria Of Curse For A Holy Swordsman.

 

Just finished Kill La Kill and it was great. I also recently finished Shirobako and I enjoyed that as well.

Currently i'm watching Charlotte, Idolmaster Cinderella Girls season 2, Monster Musume, and Death Note. At least for the time being as there's plenty of others I need to start watching soon.

 

Currently re-watching DBZ. Just started the Android/Cell saga. The wife hasn't seen it before, so I picked it up on DVD to watch it with her.

 

Just started Basilisk & can't help but wonder why this guy has a scrotum for a chin.

Okay... haven't posted here in quite a while... I'll see what the last watched was, write what I've seen since then, then get around to replies.

Bloo...dy... hell... Last I reported watching was up to ep 9 of Death Parade... back in April... I have some remembering to do...

Finished Death Parade, obviously... V good, do recommend.

Finally finished Log Horizon S2. Was no where near as good as S1. Didn't give the same vibe of wonder and mystery and epic plans of S1, and spent far too much time looking at the noobs.

Watched ep 4 or so of Dog Days. It's a little slow and uneventful for my liking, so I can't watch much at a time...

Up to ep 10 or so of Baccano. It's really good, but I seem to keep taking large breaks in between episodes... I hope I can remember what's been happening...

Also up to ep 10 of Show By Rock!. Damn, really need to finish it... such a good music anime...

Watched Dungeon ni Deai. Such a great anime too~ Loved all the inclusion of mythologies (Daedalus Lane, omh), but, why Hephaestus female? LOVED how tune to RPGs it was~~~ Makes me want to play this anime as a game~~

Watched ep 1 of Little Busters. Had it downloaded since 2013, so finally got around to it... It was pretty shit. Gave me shitty Clannad vibes, in the sense of "let's do this random boring shit that's supposed to be fun/funny but is actually boring as shit". I suppose that's a given though, 'cause Key. Damnit, Key! Stop writing slice of life! It's now given that you suck at it! Do more good stuff like Angel Beats!!

Watched Katanagatari. It was pretty bland. Nanami was easily best girl (OP sadist ftw~~), but that's not saying much; all the other characters were boring as shit, MC especially. Hated him so much. Too much time in each ep was devoted to talking, where as the only thing I cared about was the fights at the end. And, it's now clear to me; Nisioisin can not write romance for shit! MC kept saying how he'd "fallen for" Togame, but it did not look like it in the slightest throughout the entire anime! They even go as far as to even say it explicitly in the script! The same is true for Monogatari. So glad that Araragi didn't get Hanekawa; the writing would be shit (as it is for him and Bitchjou), and also, HE DOESN'T DESERVE HER!!!

With Kay, watched the rest of Nisemonogatari, watched Nekomonogatari Black, and Nekomonogatari White. Noticing foreshadowing of some SS stuff. HANEKAWA, YOU'RE SO GREAT! HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH EVERYTHING AND STILL BE SO AMAZING?!?!
(That reminds me... I should get back to screencapping Hanekawa and Shinobu stuff for wallpapers...)

Watched SAO II. Finally, a character who's actually decent! Too bad most of her screentime is her being sexualised... And after her arc, since she's badarse and doesn't seem to be romantically interested in Kirito, she gets next-to-no screentime... Sigh...
I liked the IRL stuff of the fast sword girl arc; pretty nice how it touched on the stuff it did. The OP was also really good.
Can't really say this season was disappointing, 'cause I didn't think the franchise was very good to begin with. This season might have actually been a little better. What's with SAO and its rapey scenes though?... :/

Watched like 3 eps of Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo. What I've seen is pretty enjoyable.

Watched like 10 eps of Aldnoah Zero. Holy crap, this is actually so good, even on its own standards rather than comparing it as a mecha show. MC so great~ PTSD so good~ I do apologise, @Metazoxan for not listening to you to begin with. My thanks to you and SK for convincing me to watch this. I'm really keen on watching more~

Oh, right. Also watched ep 1 of GJ-bu. Pretty boring. And holy crap, did they HAVE to make such an accurate depiction of a hunstman spider?!?! It's traumatised me a little... Ugh, them creepy eyes and legs...

Watched a couple of eps of Noragami with Kay. Love how she's loving it~

Also watched 5 eps of Love Live! with Kay. Nico best girl~ Oh, and I have decided that Umi is better than Eli in my ranking.

Watched 4 eps of Gakkou Gurashi. Oh holy hell this anime is so good~ Love all the despair~~~ Megu-nee, do you even exist?!

Watched 3 eps of Game of Laplace.

Watched 2 or 3 eps of Gangsta. Yeah, much better than I expected it to be.

Watched the first ep of Overlord. Looks pretty damn good so far~~

Yeah I'm loving this one. Easily one of my favorites.

 

Is it worth watching? I feel like SAO 1 was a swing and a miss, for the most part. A good anime, but incredibly overrated. With the direction it took toward the end, I can't imagine SAO 2 being anything other than utter ****.

Also, that text wall. =P I don't even know what everyone is arguing over... something about SAO and cat boys.. For the record, I'm down with more cat boys. And cat girls... Fuck it, whiskers and ears for everyone!

Ehhhhh not really. To SAO 2's credit it doesn't mess up it's pacing or shift tone too much like the first season did. However while it's pace isn't exactly bad it's also really slow and almost all the fights are over too quickly and are unfulfilling. Instead we get talking, some more talking, and finally even more talking. It wouldn't be bad if they were at least talking about something interesting but most of it is just explaining stuff or talking about their PSTD that Kirito and Sino are going through. While she was one of the more interesting characters this season there were times they just spent too much time having her talk and not enough having her do stuff so she felt kinda wasted until the action starts but again that is just far too brief.

I guess if you were a real fan of the first season then this would be passable but if you hated season 1 then you probably won't like season 2 much because for every problem with season 1 they fixed they replace it with problems at least twice as bad.

 

Noted. I may watch it, one day, just to say that I have. But I'm in no hurry. I feel like the two halves of SAO 1 should have been their own seasons. The pacing in that was awful. I also hated how Asuna went from being a badass to being a cry baby to being a damsel in distress over the course of 25 episodes. Also, Kirito can be a bit of a twat and I want to punch Yui in the face.

SAO, to me, really felt like it had a lot of good ideas and the potential for an interesting world and narrative and just didn't go anywhere with it.

I agree with you completely there. I watched Log Horizon first, so SAO was completely inferior to it.
And I probs can't recommend you to watch it or not; my taste within SAO seems to be backwards to everyone else. I preferred the second half of S1 over the first half; felt much more MMO-like in the second half, plus it had kittehs~

Nothing really new to report on my end, well, except that @Keiichi-Morisato they released a DxD Born special ep recently, Rias was hawt! It's only 3 mins and by the looks of the mal page, there'll be 5 more special eps, prolly release 1 ep a month since it ends airing on Dec of this year. Maybe, I'm hoping, at the end of these specials, I just got a feeling, an inkling, that they'll announce DxD S4.

Ya shoulda read my other posts, I later corrected myself and was reminded of my past self that said statistics on mal don't matter as much as some think. I won't say why I changed my mind since I already said it when I mentioned how I dropped Shiki so, if ya wanna know, find dat shiki post. Bleach is good to me, but has many probs, mainly the constant filler, more so the worse kind where they interrupt the main time line aka the Aisen Arc and one time was even showing an acr that takes place AFTER the Aizen arc, which means that arc also took place sometime after the last ep aka ep 366. >_> The cast of chars are great and so is the wackiness, but this can turn some away too. I wouldn't change this though. I believe another thing is that it just went on too long, I disagree but can see why fans would say this. and fyi, most mainstream anime aka shnen jump anime, aka the long running ones of 100+ eps are usually just good are ok are great in a unique way but not truly great. Usually it's shows that have 12-26 eps that are the greater anime. *Cough s;g*cough*
