Yeah I think Ovyda beats us all, there is just too much crap for me to even attempt watching ALL of the new releases.
So I am watching enough to keep me occupied but still have free time and hopefully they wont piss me off by turning into complete garbage.

Wow that seems longer than what I thought it was, well whatever 4 are only 5 min long eps. Well I still have to start Monogatari but want to watch Neko first, and I may pick up Genshiken 3 if I manage to watch the rest of it before this season ends [so far looking unlikely].

 

Yeah I've been thinking that I have been watching too many, believe it or not this is actually less than was it last season or the one before it, but yeah 17 actual length episode series for this season I'm watching. I feel like I should drop some because as of this point some are not impressing me, mainly ink to hasami...

Well I've still got enough free time so no point in dropping it just yet, so far I may end up dropping Watamote and makai ouji too.

Ovyda and I were talking about how fruity Makai and Gifuu seem. Those would be the only two on the chopping block if I decide to drop something this season.

 

No worries Ovyda, Watamote is kind of bland at the moment really nothing too much that is entertaining. I think my favourite part of it so far is the opening theme. Shame though, considering its premise it has quite a bit of leeway with its plot and certainly a unique character as I've never seen one this pathetic before. But oh well it just does not add up to what I was hoping to see from it maybe we should of listened to Meta's warning well too late for that now. Makai Ouji, demons fighting to be elected and boy that refuses to believe they are real despite being in the middle of it, kind of sounds like Ummineko but worse to me since the MC isn't fun like Battler and well there probably wont be murders in this show.

I agree with Bato, why would you drop Gifuu Spor? As soon as I saw the first ep I knew there was going to be an outcry of calling this yaoi too since manly men fighting one another with their special weapons, but this too doesn't warrant the criticism although I don't think I've seen anyone trash this series yet for being yaoi. I am actually enjoying Gifuu, it is refreshing to have a series with hyper masculine characters in it so that we just aren't seeing the typical moe school girls or emphasised ecchi setting.
But even without this series we would still have the hyper masculine Sakura from Danganronpa, if the eliminations are still running next year I'm nominating her for Garch seriously unless a better option appears in the coming seasons.

 

Keyword in my statement was "if" I decide to drop something. Because yes, their bromance seems too close. I'd rather save myself the time and not deal with the yaoi undertones when the only reward is small bits of action near the end of the episode. But, I digress, this is only if I decide I'm dropping it. It had enough initial appeal to warrant my 5 episode test, it just happens to be one of the shows I'm highly criticizing.

We'll just let the their overly close bromance speak for itself. Something about the serenading instrumental compositions we've been seeing while they're under the moonlight, cherry blossom petals falling around them while consuming alcohol. They're too hypnotized in each others man-love to even be conscious of the promiscuous women around them.




If you don't see the yaoi undertones you're either completely unmindful or willfully obtuse.

 

I agree with Spor, there are enough yaoi undertones in Gifuu to at least acknowledge and know that people will simply call it as such. However the level to which this affects people is critically different, to me personally I wouldn't label it even to have enough concern for people to drop it because of this however others will see the first ep and claim to know everything about how it will develop and why it is one. Everyone has their own level to which they can tolerate such settings.

But I'd like to point out that they are in the red light district, they could have any woman any time there so that is no real concern over ignoring them. One is a rumoured eccentric and the other was interested in seeing who his enemy to be was, I don't think this really counts as a reason for the yaoi, to help the point didn't the small blacksmith get hit on outside?
Also irrelevant to current discussion, but that Shamisen [it was a shamisen right?] playing was good I actually liked listening to it because how many series recently have had such a noise. Just something different for a change.

@karmadelta, you should have finished the first episode at least, not long after the halfway point 3 men are killed and it sets up a bit of the story for the next ep being women fighting each other.
