Watched Absolute Duo and it was all right. I was afraid of it being a generic ecchi and instead it's a generic harem. Not terrible and the action was okay.

I dropped Ore, twintail something something. I enjoyed it at first but then it got too stupid for me to still want to watch it. I can't handle stupid too well. I enjoy watching lots of bad movies, TV shows and anime but if it's a bad comedy or is full of stupid humor then I draw the f***ing line because all I'll want to do is kill myself if I keep watching. There is nothing, NOTHING worse then a bad comedy. The anime is not terrible and I can see why people like it, but I just can't be bothered to watch anymore of it.

 

Fair enough. Personally I though it was a good kind of stupid. The kind that is just fun to watch somehow even though you know it's stupid. But that is a VERY subjective view point so obviously the show would not be for everyone. Although I will say if you liked Power Rangers at all as a kid the similarities between this show and those kinds of shows may let you enjoy the show on pure nostalgia with everything else being a bonus if you like it.

With Absolute Duo I will say I like the female lead. She's not exactly unique but she's not a Tsundere which at least half series of this type do but sadly I'm not seeing anything special from the MC at all. He's just a "nice guy" with a tragic past and also freaks out at female lead being nearly naked. So he's pretty much the standard MC.

 

I just got tired of the humor. I liked it a lot for a while but it was the same thing over and over again. My love of Power Rangers and Super Sentai helped me like the show more, but it didn't last too long. It stopped being funny to me.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the MC at all. I just hope he's not like Ichika....

 

Ichika from I.S. right? Well I think he'll at least be better than Ichika because he seems like he's been through a bit and isn't as thick. I could be wrong though. But since shows like this spend most of their time letting the heroines develop while the MC (interesting or not) is mostly just there to recieve all the development and help out it's better for the Heroine to be interesting and the MC to be bland than the other way around. Because when the heroine is bland or annoying then all these episodes that focus on what they are doing are just agony to get through. But if it's the MC who is bland or annoying then it's somewhat easy to just ignore him and focus on everyone else. Provided of course the bland MC isn't getting in the way of the plot and development with his blandness.

Harem anime by 8-bit.
History has a tendency of repeating [IS2, Walkure] but I'm still gonna watch.

 

Oh come on Walkure was hilarious though.
The horses won in the end.

Anyway speaking of hentai, I read somewhere that an anime adaptation of Kara no Shoujo has been greenlit.
If you're wondering it's a horror/supernatural eroge that got adaptated into an OVA (of course there was sex) back in 2010.
Apparently Madhouse is animating it.

BUY THE BDs.

You know who the MC reminds me of.
The MC from Freezing (cause you know, going to a certain school cause of the loss of a loved one), except Freezing was not a harem and I'm pretty sure the mangaka hates women for something.

Excellent choice dropping that shit.
It's apparently meant just shit all over itself but I couldn't stand it, and it's false Yuri.

Expect a giant pile of steamy shit at the end as all 8-bit animated harems end up like this.
But their latest harem adaptation, The Fruits of Grisaia wasn't bad, and at least the MC of that show was a complete badass and did not give a flying fuck.

Okay all you harem watchers, there are four harem anime airing right now (5 if you count Yuri Kuma Arashi but that's a bit of a stretch considering 2 are interested in her)
Which one is your favourite at the moment?
Just remember they're all gonna end up like a big pile of steamy horse shit in the end.
And they'll all get S2's.

Oh by the way a fun fact, out of the 4 harem anime, 3 of the MCs are voiced by Kirito's VA (The MC from Seiken is voiced by Kaito Ishikawa)

 

Ruined Backstories? Which one? They seemed to follow the manga point for point for the most part. Sure some things might have been shortened or changed just a little for time reasons but I didn't notice much difference. Like With Ban's backstory that is exactly how I remember it in the manga. Plus like you said the fights are awesome and while they happened in the manga to they are just more awsome when you see them in color and moving.

Oh wait I do remember one thing actually. When Melodias and Ban meet in the prison there was a lot more to that. he broke the daughter free (and there was a scene that made it look like he was going to rape her but he was actually just stealing her hidden dagger). In the anime we barely see the Doc's daughter and she gets maybe two lines at best. Sure she wasn't a major character and we never see her again but I liked the dagger scene and was dissapointed they skipped it and the whole breaking out of the barrier thing took longer too. But that is the only thing I can think of that really got cut down a lot.

Now it has actually been a while since I read the manga so I might be forgetting a few details but I didn't notice much change. I have a feeling the critics are the guys who just complain if something is even 10% different.

Kara no Shoujo deserved so much better than the OVA it got. If this is gonna be legit, then I'm so hyped. You have no idea how much I loved the VN! I hope it finally gets the respect it deserves!

In terms of staying on topic, I just watched the first ep of Kuroko no Basket S3. The hype is real!

I'm gonna have to have a meal every time I watch Koufuku Graffiti, since I'M GETTING HUNGRY THANKS TO THE ANIME
