They were only getting by because they were sneak attacking low level Goblins. The moment they were sneak attacked themselves (and by something not level 1) they got wrecked big time.

They should have realized monsters in this world were smart and could use sneak attacks themselves.

I might check out this Erased ya'll be talkin bout. :) Although, there's plenty of anime this season (about 5 at least) that I want to see but haven't even started, in fact, I've yet to see ep 4-5 of A. Classroom S2... I need to get back to that anime. lol I guess the last ep was a bigger disappointment to me than I thought cus other anime I'm watching have taken priority over this 1 ep a week anime.

can't blame you for clannad as I'm avoiding that shit still like the plague. But more importantly did you try Boku Dake ga Inai Machi? I'm curious as to what you'd think about that show.

@Vladnyx that Shouwa Genroku Rakugo, this is turning out to be surprisingly entertaining. Who'd have though really, when the flashback started I didn't think it would form most of the show but this is a great relaxing peace with Ishida Akira playing the suave main character. Also that mistress, I can't wait to see how that develops.

@Metazoxan I wasn't interested in that RPG show at all until I read your spoiler, now I'm slightly more tempted. Doubt I will but would you say it is worth my time?

I wish I had started it, but the Superbowl took my whole afternoon and evening yesterday.

I didn't know you liked sports, but I agree that you still should have started it. Oh well platy of time tomorrow for it, right? Say yes.
If you like sports, have you checked out any sports anime? Some can be insanely good and they have been releasing more recently throughout the last few years. Maybe you could watch some of those and discuss them with us, the limited few that watch sports anime.

I don't like to watch sports, but my father and uncle do, I was trying to stay awake.

I don't remember the last sports anime I finished, but I like them (because there's a plot). I watched about half of eyeshield 21, it was good, but pretty long.
Watched the entirety of Shokugeki no Soma, was awesome, looking forward to the next season.

The only bad sports anime I watched was Bleach, effing soccer.

Haikyuu looked good from what I saw.

Maybe. The animation style is a bit unique which I know you like. It's nothing ground breaking mind you but some scenes have this almost painted like feel to them I guess you could say?

Also after the last episode it's clear this is NOT a happy go lucky "trapped in an RPG like world" anime where the MC is OP and is a badass. It's also not very action packed with talking and atmosphere dominating the series instead.

So for me I wish the pace was a little faster and scenes weren't so slow but I guess the pacing suits the kind of series they are going for.

Shouwa Genroku has indeed turned out to be shockingly entertaining. Gotta thank Ovyda for being so insistent that I try to watch it even though I was planing on doing so anyway. At first glance you wouldn't get the impression it would be any good at all. The flashbacks make sense and all but I would like the pacing to pick up just slightly. Like you i'm also very curious to see what develops with the mistress. I'm even more curious to learn what caused Konatsu's father's death because I don't believe we ever got a clear reasoning or indication as to how. For what ever reason I just want to see more of her character. Her personality is just entertaining and you can tell she's her fathers daughter. Also I like sports anime myself. My personal favorites that iv'e watched have been Kuroko no Basket, Hajime no Ippo, Prince of Tennis, Suzaka, Initial D (if you can call drifting a sport), Grappler Baki, Wangan Midnight (again if you can call racing a sport), and lastly Princess Nine. I'm sure I could name more but that's what comes to mind for right now.

I'm not a fan of sports anime either, it's one of my least fav genre for anime and I don't watch sports at all irl. However, there are a few good sports anime, most notably, Air Gear. :) Don't let it fool u though, it's far better than your typical sports anime and has a lot of themes in it including being free.

Sorry I do like sports anime, I didn't express myself properly.

Anywho, I've seen Air Gear it was good, it's biggest downside is that it requires to read the manga because it only covers the first half of the series.

So would you say it's worth watching? I saw a clip of a goblin ambush, and it looked pretty sweet when they hit bone~ :3

Good memory about my like of unusual animation. This further intrigues me, but not quite enough to get me to watch it.
I like the sound of a darker RPG but we all know how SAO quickly was degraded. I think I'd also prefer plenty of action, especially if it meant that the MCs would be getting injured. I may still hold off and wait for others opinions before I give it the chance.

See, I'm fine with this show being slow and flashback heavy since this is the kind of flashback I like [unseen footage rather than recap]. I never had the thought that it'd be a fast paced show, being fully prepared for a boatload of talking worked in my favour. I was familiar with the idea of Rakugo so I had a rough idea what a rakugo heavy time peace would be like. If nothing else, this show is a must watch for the period drama. Enjoying the performances are just a bonus for me.
I liked Konatsu as well, I'd like to see more of her eventually but I can wait. For now I'm just enjoying the ride.

I find this acceptable, I am the same. Hate sports but plot filled sports anime can be greatly enjoyable and somewhat influential series. Eyeshield is one I haven't got to yet, but I am watching almost every new release sports series that comes out [minus the ecchi nothing ones of course]. And yes Haikyuu is a very good sports anime.

I don't read manga, I have in the past and plan to in the future but, point is, most (or at least half, no joke) anime don't cover all of the manga/novel. For the anime that don't get an ending, I plan to read only a very select few of them in manga/novel form if no further anime coverage exists but, even then usually anime even if it covers only a part of it, is still good and you usually don't end up confused. Air Gear's sub only 3 OVA eps are a different story. :(

I have mixed feelings about series that end before the manga.

Just watched the first episode of Erased.
At first I thought it would be a fun police series.

Then I expected a 3-hour revival, but what the crap, this is not what I expected.

Well, I'm hooked, gonna watch that series.

Well it depends. Do you want a fast to moderately paced action series or a feels trip that focuses more on the character's struggles to adapt to and survive in this world? If it's the former then no but if it's the later then maybe. Mind you the first few episodes have them basically getting settled into this world and nothing of note happens until episode 4. Everything up to that is pure character and world building.
SAO degraded because from the very start it was about Kirito being a badass and the dark and dangerous world was just there to make him even more awesome when he beat it.

But again this series has not been very action oriented so far. There is action at times but the focus is more of the characters and their emotions than showing off cool action scenes. Besides that currently they all suck at fighting. Their Theif is slow, their dark knight can only swing his sword like a normal knight, their hunter can't shoot a god damn bow, and their tank doesn't seem to get what being a tank means. But at the same time their lack of skill seems to be on purpose and is something they are going to need to struggle to overcome if they want to survive.

But if you play a lot of RPG or MMO games then be ready to cring a bit at their horrible battle formations. Again it seems their bad choices were made bad on purpose but still it can be a bit frustrating watching them do literally everything you can do when it comes to RPGs/MMOs wrong.

    I'm almost caught up on A. Classroom, after putting it off for 3 weeks. haha ^_^;

Perhaps you're just burnt out and need a break? Perhaps you just need something different from the same old same old? Either way, rest up, take some time away from it and remember to come back to it even if you have to force yourself! X) Because always remember, "A world without Anime is too cruel."
