    Name: Levi Gander
    Gender: Male
    Race: Cyron
    Age: 24
Appearance: Has grey scales that vaguely resemble human skin, green slitted eyes, stands at 6' 4" tall with a bulky build (at least compared to other races), has a forked tongue, is usually seen wearing a black trenchcoat and black-rim glasses.
Back Story: A prodigy from a young age who was well on his way towards becoming one of the finest scientific minds in the galaxy. Unfortunately, his skill with machines is matched only by his lack of restraint which has led to many unfortunate "incidents" which in turn has led to him being reassigned quite a few times. Eventually, he was deemed a liability and assigned to the Jolly Roger, partly as punishment and partly to keep him from doing any more damage to the Federation's research facilities. He is always accompanied by his flying robotic companion Viper.
    Job on Ship: Cybernetics Specialist

    Name: Viper
    Gender: N/A
    Race: None/Machine
Age: Was built about 3 years ago
Appearance: A small mechanical drone that was constructed by Levi to assist him in his research. It can carry and operate various pieces of equipment and can "communicate" in a way by displaying messages and images on its front side. It flies around on four small, pivoting thrusters and can be upgraded in different ways to perform whatever task is necessary at the time.
    Job on Ship: Assistant

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Levi casually strolled down the halls, completely lost in his thoughts as he stared down at his datapad. He would occasionally mutter something to himself as he jotted down a few notes, only looking up often enough to make sure he didn't bump into anything or anyone. When he reached his destination, he saw what appeared to be a Tile mercenary standing in the captain's open doorway. As he walked up to her, he gave the mercenary a curious look.

"So, you're here to talk to the captain, too? I see. Alright then, just pretend like I'm not even here."
He stared down at his datapad once again, waving his hand dismissively.
"Just let me know when you're finished. Hmm, if I modify the phase variance and re-align the power converters..."
He trailed off, tapping his datapad and talking under his breath as ideas for future projects came to him.

( ooc: aaaa i'm sorry for the late reply. i've been focused on an assignment for my english comp class )
    ---------

Andraste hadn't noticed the man next to her until he said something. Feeling it'd be rude to just ignore his request, she turned and smiled at him. "Ah, no. It's okay. You seem to be here first. I have no problems with waiting."

Studying his appearance she gently clapped her hands together, grinning. "A Cyron, eh? I haven't had the pleasure to meet one in such a long time. I'm Andraste, it's a pleasure to meet you." Her usual tough exterior and atmosphere has immediately softened in the presence of Levi for he had reminded her of her older sibling that took her under their wing back in the commune she grew up in.
He seemed to not notice that she had said something to him since he was muttering to himself about something mechanical while his face was directed to his datapad. Unsure of whether or not she should attempt to continue the conversation, Andraste decided to walk around the room they were in and explore until Shingen came around from whatever he was doing.

All right, let's see if I can piece together a coherent reply to this.

    Name: Kanaya Verneye
    Age: 587
    Sex: Female
Race: Daernie (Dare-nee-eh) or horned ones
    Background: [REDACTED]
    Job: Head Physician.
Physical Description: The runt of her litter, Kanaya stands at just under six feet tall. (5' 11") She was an enlistee of the universal forces for five years before becoming a physician and assigned to the Jolly Roger. Her horns extend from just above her ears and are 3.5" in length. her skin is toned a dark maroon with neon orange eyes and jet black hair that falls to just above her shoulders. Her glowing eyes are offset by the dark bags under her eyes. Her personality is rather gruff and no nonsense although she does like to joke. She is very strict and no nonsense when it comes to her practice, easily cutting through the BS offered by those reluctant to admit to how they ended up in her care. Enforcing rules are second to healing the injured in her mind.

Kanaya looked around her clinic, taking in the staff under her command and trying to figure out the capabilities of each one. The medical files could wait for now, as she thought about how to address those under her immediate command.
"We are the lifeblood of this ship," she said to the assembled physicians, nurses and corpsmen. "The engineering department may keep us going, but we keep them going. The soldiers and marines defend this ship but we keep them fighting! The Captain leads us but we keep him and his bridge staff functioning. This ship is run by organics, not machines. It is our duty to keep as many of them alive as possible with as little as possible. We have a finite supply of drugs and equipment."
Kanaya stared into the eyes of as many of her personnel as she could before continuing.
"We must make sacrifices! We must let some die so that the many survive. I don't ask that these choices come easily to you. But I do ask... No, I implore... that you make them for the benefit of our crew. For our mission, and for the United Alliance." And then in a softer voice, "Don't lose who you are. I don't want you to be robots, to be cold hearted scum. We must be as kind hearted as possible to our fellow ship mates. They are keeping us alive, and we keep them alive. Our resources are finite, but our compassion is not. Do all that you can within reason. Take risks when they will pay off. Do not waste what we have. Take nothing for granted."

It was a poor speech she felt as her medical staff milled about in mild confusion to her speech. The mixed messages weighed on her mind as well. Do everything possible, but use only what is necessary.
The medical supply room had been generously stocked, but just because supplies were plentiful didn't mean that those under her command could grow complacent with waste. They'd all, with some exceptions, all served aboard space bound vessels before. What she'd said was nothing new, but reiteration was always valuable. A ship close to the front lines never went unsupplied; but a ship setting out for uncharted waters had to be stocked in the event that it never made it past its first fight.

It didn't help that the Captain was as nervous as the greenest of newbies. He wouldn't have been placed here if he wasn't capable. But with the kind of crew he'd have to supervise, it was a daunting task for a newly minted Captain. A crew of loners and misfits wouldn't help matters unless he had some experienced counseling. And while she wasn't exactly a fount of knowledge, Captain Shingen could use an experienced voice even if it was only heeded in the direst of straits. With that in mind, Kanaya made her way to the Captain's quarters, only mildly surprised to find that she wasn't the only one wishing to express their doubts about this mission. A Tile female and a Cyron male stood in the corridor by the Captains quarters. A medium sized drone hummed on tiny gravitic stabilizers as it patrolled a small section of the corridor.

"It appears that I'm not the only one with some concerns for our new Captain." Kayana said with a small chuckle as she took a drag from a smokeless tobacco stick.

Captain shingen finished what he was doing in the shopping district and decided to head back to his quarters. He was surprised if see Andraste, Levi, and Kanyana all waiting outside to talk to him. For obvious reasons he addressed kanyana first as she was medical staff.

"What is it Kanyana? Do we need more medical supplies, are there sick or wounded that you need to consult me with?"

After he would finish with Kanyana he acknowledged andraste and then Levi.

After staying silent for sometime, still typing away at his datapad, Levi looked up and saw Andraste walking away.
"Hmm? Oh, sorry about that. My name's Levi, I specialize in the field of cybernetics. It's a pleasure to meet you, miss..."

With hardly a moment's hesitation, Viper flew around Levi and hovered in front of him, its front-facing screen now displaying a detailed crew profile on Andraste.

Levi took a quick look at the screen, nodded and continued.
"Andraste, if my information here is correct, and it usually is."
He adjusted his glasses slightly and looked up at Andraste.
"It looked to me like you were here first, so by all means, feel free to finish your business first."

Just as he said this, he noticed yet another guest walking towards them and turned to face her.
"Well, well...the thought occurs to me that I may have picked a bad time to talk to the captain. I suppose that's to be expected right before the ship's maiden voyage."

Levi muttered under his breath as Viper flew in front of him once again, this time displaying information relating to Dr. Kanaya Verneye.

Levi glanced at the screen, then looked to Kanaya.
"Doctor Verneye, it's a pleasure to meet you. Please don't take this the wrong way but I hope I do not require your services often on this mission."

As the captain exited his quarters and immediately addressed Kanaya, Levi went back to typing on his datapad as if nothing happened.

"Ah, yes Captain." She walked towards him. "Seeing that there are other people needing your time at the moment, I guess I should give you the condensed version and we can meet up at a later time to discuss everything in full." Looking at the floor she counted to two, gaining her composure to apologize for what she did earlier. Acknowledging she made a wrong move was always difficult for her. "I apologize for denting the wall and making it seem as if I was threatening your life. That is far from what I was trying to do and it's the furthest thing from my assignment." She looked up at him and bowed before turning to walk away.

Stopping in the doorway, she looked over her shoulder to remind the captain to get in contact with her to set up a meeting.

"Again, it was nice to meet you, Levi. Doctor."

With that being said she left to go walk around the ship a bit to calm her nerves.

Kayana chuckled, "It's my hope to not see you on my table if it can be helped. Though I may need your skills on this journey. Your talents will be invaluable to our overall success."
With a warm smile she placed a clawed hand on Levi's shoulder. "I look forward to working with you."

She turned as the Captain approached her. "Ah, Captain Shingen. I'm Doctor Kayana Verneye, it's nice to meet you. I fear we may be talking a lot on this mission, whatever the end goal may be. May we continue our discussion in your quarters?"

She waited a few moments for Shingen to open the door and usher her inside.

"You're right, I do need supplies. But then again, it's not like we can be well stocked for where we're going. Which leads me to my real concern." Her expression which had been that of a somewhat bored officious type suddenly turned deadly serious. "Where exactly are we going?"

"Well Doc.... If I knew it wouldn't be called uncharted space now would it? The only Intel I got was it is a few light years away from the andromeda system. It is a severely unknown location we have no idea the threats that will be ahead of us. But we will persevere. My crew may not have faith in me but I have faith in my crew. If you wish to discuss more. We can in my quarters for now I must speak to Levi."

Before addressing Levi He attempted to accept Andraste apology but it was cut short because she seemed to have walked away. Turning to levi, Shingen addressed him.

"How may I help you, Sir?"

Iggin was drifting along the shop walking around seemingly aimlessly but he was memorizing the layout in case of an unexpected threat inside or outside. That was when he didn't realize Andraste was in front of him his shoulder bumped into her. He gave his shoulder a shove to move whoever was in front of him away. Iggin more concentrated on the ship didn't seem to care who it was that he just pushed out of the way.

"Watch where you're going next time."

Was all that he said before continuing to walk

Levi stopped typing immediately when Kayana placed her hand on his shoulder. Although he didn't say anything, the sudden physical contact was surprising and quite unwelcome to him. He knew it was a rather common greeting that most would have considered friendly, but because of his rather introverted personality and lack of social graces, it simply made him uncomfortable. He waited it out, wearing a dull expression and hardly moving a muscle until the doctor left to speak with Captain Shingen, after which he passed the time by working on his datapad once again.

When Kayana and Shingen stepped out of the captain's quarters and he was addressed by the latter, Levi looked up and matched his gaze.
"Hmm, that was fast. Thank you for taking the time to speak with me."
He briefly looked at his datapad and brought up some pertinent information to the topic he wished to bring up.
"I wanted to ask if I could..."borrow" a certain room on this vessel. You see, I did some poking around in the Jolly Roger's mainframe and after a quick peek at the ship's security cameras, I found that there is a cargo bay that is currently not in use. Cargo bay 5, to be exact. While I can appreciate wanting to have more space for storage in case we find something interesting like an alien artifact, I believe we can put the space to better use. More specifically, I can put it to better use."
He pulled up a few notes on his datapad and continued.
"This space would be perfect for a few experiments I would like to conduct while aboard this vessel. I'm sure my research will have a variety of benefits for the ship and crew, as well. Although the first upgrade I would like to make would be to our mainframe's security; the ease with which I was able to gain access to it is a little...troublesome, to be quite honest."

He brought up a menu showing all of the ship's systems such as shields, weapons, life support, the entire database including classified files and more, all readily available at his fingertips. He turned the datapad around and showed it to Shingen.
"Quite the concern, as you can see."
He quickly exited the menu and turned off the datapad.
"If it's all the same to you, I would like to get started right away-- with your permission, of course, sir."

Kayana stood in the hallway outside Shingen's quarters with her back to the wall. Staring up into the corner where the wall and ceiling met her gaze turned inward, seeing nothing. Flashes of the past rushed through her mind. Memories of a ship not too unlike this very one they were all on. Forcing her mind back on track she began to mentally run down the checklist of everything she had to get done. Shifts still needed to be sorted out and a proper supply ration placed on drugs and disposable equipment. There were a few "Problem" crew members under her command who would most likely need special measures.

Not very daunting, but still worthy of a slight headache.

With an annoyed sigh she took a few steps forward, her hearing just picking up the faint rumblings coming from within the Captain's quarters. "Good," she muttered softly, "Ships don't need paper thin walls."
Her expression soured for a moment and she took a long drag on the pipe before her self assured grin returned. Setting off for the galley she wondered just what they'd come up against this time.

Her head was down and it took a minute to register that she had bumped into someone whilst wandering around the ship. Turning around to apologize to who she ran into, she saw it was Iggin. She also happened to see he was almost all the way on the other end of the walk way. Trying to avoid being rude, she still made a point to apologize even if it ran the risk of him not hearing it.
"I'm sorry sir! I didn't mean to shove into you. I wasn't paying attention." She paused and added a message in their native tongue "My mind is cloudy after attempting to speak with Shingen."
She had hoped he heard it before he turned the corner.

Waiting until he was out of her sight, she turned back around and continued walking, passing the area where she kicked in the wall. A small group had formed making small talk over the dent. Bored, she stood a little bit away from the group, but focused on their conversations to see who or what they were guessing that was already wrecking the ship. Some were trying to take the credit themselves, while others pushed the blame onto the captain. Quickly getting annoyed, she cleared her throat and watched everyone turn to stare at her. This is where the fun was going to begin.

    OOT: sorry busy with work.

Shingen looked at Levi for a moment after his request. He processed what he was saying and thought for a few moments. There was no way he could "borrow it" however he could appoint him a new title.

"Levi, I will allow you to work in Cargo Bay 5 under normal procedure hours. You will work an 8 hour shift and go to the barracks like the rest of the members unless advised otherwise. You may also wander around the ship. You are the new head of maintenance in Cargo Bay 5. You are allowed to do whatever you want. I also grant you higher security privledges and clearance."

Shingen reached his hand out to shake it "Hope you enjoy your new promotion... Though I will have to have proper and formal notice of any and all experiments and you will need to have a crew to work with you."

As Iggin continued walking he heard Andraste apology and memorized each step he made. While he was doing such he got lost in thought...

The familiar feeling of being alone overcame Iggin. The stench of rusted metal and mildew filled his memory, Blood was also in the mix of smells. He had a bandana covering his eyes. And it was slowly taken off. The bright lights slowly calming down. He still has his vision. Across from him Sat a tile man. He was straddled to the chair. He gazed with a rather reprehensible glare.

"Ex-mayor Iggin." he said. "Finally nice to meet you." Iggin remained sitting back pressed to a wall. He couldnt move as he was shackled to the floor and in handcuffs.

"You may not know me. I am Seren, My codename was the serpent. I am the best archer in the known universe and I am a Tile. I live on the opposite end of this world and We're on the same side. You see, I've always agreed we were a land of opportunity. And you may ask, Why are you shackled by your own Militia. Well, Simply put I fight for no nation any more. And you were the first person of importance that I could grab. You see people look to you as an immortal. I don't. I think you're a coward and a crook. I'll make a deal with you Iggin, You have 2 days to decide which you treasure most. Your eyes, Arms, or Legs, I trust you will be willing to talk in 2 days. So I will return and keep you fed until you make your decision."

Iggin just remained stating at Seren returning a glare. Iggins glare contained disdain and hate, if he broke free he would kill the man where he stands. He knew he was locked tight so he just remained.

"Don't look at me like that." Seren kicked over a tray of food to Iggin. "Once I leave you will have your handcuffs removed so you can eat. Once you've finished we will handcuff you again and wrap your eyes."

Seren got up and left the room. And as so 4 guards came in and did as he told Iggin.

"That was some time ago." Iggin thought to himself. "He must be dead by now."

OOT: No problem, I've been kinda busy too.

Levi pondered the offer for a little while, then shrugged his shoulders.
"Eight hours a day...far from ideal, but I suppose it will have to do. And I wasn't even planning on having the crew's assistance, so that could be helpful."
He gave a slight nod and shook Shingen's hand.
"I accept. Thank you for your understanding, captain."
Then, without missing a beat, he turned and made his way out the door while talking to his robotic companion.
"Viper, take a note down for me. I need to develop a program for you that will automatically log and track our current experiments so that we can keep the captain informed. Also, I tend to lose track of time, so we'll have to set up a strict schedule..."
His voice trailed off as he left the room and made his way to the galley.

As Levi was walking down the halls, he stopped when he noticed a small crowd had gathered around and were silently staring in the same direction. He noticed the dent in the wall that they seemed to be huddled around and followed their gazes to a familiar face. Completely ignoring the tense atmosphere, he spoke up in his usual calm, dry tone.
"Oh, imagine running into you here. Andraste, wasn't it?"
He glanced at the dented wall with a raised eyebrow.
"Somebody really should fix that. Viper, fill out a maintenance request form and send it out."

The drone beeped in response, flew around the crowd to get closer to the wall and hovered in front of it for a few seconds before returning to Levi's side.

When that was finished, Levi looked out at the crowd with a deadpan expression.
"So...since that's been taken care of, don't you all have something better to do?"
He hadn't intended to come off as condescending, but his choice of words and lack of social finesse probably made it sound that way to them.
