Star Wars Resistance: Anime-Inspired TV Series Announced
    [IMG]

Just over a month since Star Wars Rebels drew to a close, Dave Filoni has a new animated Star Wars series in the works. The Disney Channel has just ordered a series of Star Wars Resistance, set prior to the events of The Force Awakens and exploring the rise of the First Order. The animation style will be anime-inspired, and the show will follow Kazudo Xiono, a young Resistance recruit on a top-secret mission to spy on the growing evil regime.

The likes of Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie are confirmed to be voicing their roles of Poe Dameron and Captain Phasma, and going by the press image BB-8 will be in it too. Also joining the voice cast are the likes of Jim Rash, Donald Faison, Bobby Moynihan, and Suzie McGrath.

“The idea for Star Wars Resistance came out of my interest in World War II aircraft and fighter pilots,” Filoni says. “My grandfather was a pilot and my uncle flew and restored planes, so that’s been a big influence on me. There’s a long history of high-speed racing in Star Wars, and I think we’ve captured that sense of excitement in an anime-inspired style, which is something the entire team has been wanting to do for a long time.”

The show is set to his the US in the Autumn — stay tuned for more info on a UK home and air date.
