"No. If you leave here now I promise not to hunt you down in the future."
Shula swung at Decoda, her blades the ensuing inferno bouncing off harmlessly. She swung again. And again, her anger blinding her to reason as much as the light had to her vision.
Gabriel knelt on the ground the was by now soaked in his own blood, clutching his wound in a vain attempt to stem the flow. Even if he succeeded, he'd likely have either drowned or suffocated from his inability to breath regularly.
He turned his gaze slowly to Sauriel, his colourless features like those of one awaiting a visit from the pale rider, of which he was most likely to become.
"Doubt e-either of us are in a state t...o do that..."
The magus slumped fowards onto a single shaking arm, his head down. Oddly, however, in his current state, he smirked.
"Luckily...our r-ride is here..."
As if on cue, oily shadows latched on to Gabe's and Shula's bodies, enveloping them completely, before dropping flatly to the ground, both of them disappearing.
Victoria looked up at Maraud then back at Laz
"How do I know you will keep your word?"
She crossed her arms
"You could be telling me this to get me to leave and once you are done with my master you will come hunt me. Why should I believe you?"
"What you don't trust me? Laz smiled a creepy looking grin.
"I will do what I want. If that means I decide to come after you later then I will. However I don't feel the need to kill you yet so go now my patience is wearing thin."
The holy light engulfing Decoda suddenly dissipated, revealing her clad in silver armor.
"Coward!" Decoda hissed under her breath.
She looked up at Maraud
"then maybe I should stay and help my master fight you....master? what would you rather me do?"
Maraud simply smiled a fanged smile.
"Should you wish to stay and fight at my side, I will reward your loyalty. Should you wish to leave and preserve your own unlife, I shall think no less of you. Be warned though, should I lose there may be no-one else willing to train you. Your decision, apprentice - Victoria."
Victoria nodded at Maraud
"I shall stay and fight with you. After all who will teach me how to control...it"
Maraud smiled wryly.
He looked back at Laz.
"Well then." Laz jumped down from the tree. "I can smell your fear you know Victoria you cant hide it from me."
Laz started to creep closer to them both but didn't look away from Victoria "OK lets do this."
Laz then jumped straight up into the air and landed behind Victoria gabbing a big handful her hair and tearing it off her head in one big pull. He then threw the hair in the air at Maraud's face with one hand while proceeding to punch his face with the other knocking him to the ground. Laz jumped on Maraud pinning him down and bit a piece of his ear off swallowing it "Yummy" he said staring into the eyes of his new soon to be prey.
Maraud looked into Laz's eyes and for a moment it was as if two feral beasts were glaring at each other.
Then Laz felt a sharp searing pain, like a line of fire drawn across his stomach, and his gut opened up with a clear view of his intestines threatening to spill out.
Maraud got up, throwing Laz off, and there was no trace of humanity on his face now. Fangs fully extended, eyes glowing red, nails hooked like claws, looking every inch the ancient predator he was, he licked the new blood on his claws. His ear started to slowly regenerate as did Victoria's hair, but very slowly - the pair of them were exhausted from their battle with the Revenant, but by no means did that make them easy prey.
"How many people have you eaten?" Maraud asked very softly. "How many lives have you ended? How many screaming voices have you silenced? How many dreams have you ripped from the living?"
He spread his arms wide, looking like a living nightmare.
"Because I have slain thousands and thousands. You are nothing more than an insect. And I do LOVE squashing insects..."
Laz gabbed his now hanging intestines and pushed them back inside. "Ouch."
Laz charged Maraud stopping an inch or two in front of the now in-raged beast and gabbed his hand crushing every bone in it like twigs. He then threw Maraud in the air at Victora knocking both of them to the ground. Laz began to charge again jumping down like a missile down on Marauds right leg snapping it.
"Your bones are soft to me like paper." Laz said smiling an evil grin. "Tell me do you care about Victoria more than just a student?"
Laz picked up Victoria by the head with one hand like a ball holding her in the air and sunk his teeth in her neck ripping part of her flesh off and swallowing it.
Then dropping her Laz looked into her angry glaring eyes "Nothing personal." He said licking his lips.
As Victoria glared up at him, her eyes began to change from blue to black. The flesh he bit off started to slowly grow back. She hissed at him, her eyes searching a way to attack. She started backing away from him, picking up speed as she does until she suddenly vanished. A few seconds later she leapt from a low tree branch landing one his back, wrapping her arms around and digging her nails into his flesh to secure herself in order to prevent him from throwing her off. She bit deep into his neck and started draining him of his blood
Laz hit the ground on his knees as he felt the blood draining from his body. "Um that's mine." Laz regained his footing and slammed Victoria into a tree but to no avail as her claws were deeply logged into his flesh. "Damn leach get off me." Laz stopped moving and reached his claws behind his head grabbing her arms and pulling her claws out. Then again ran into the tree this time with success as she fell to the ground. He then turned around swiftly and kicked her in the face.
Suddenly he hit the ground again as he had after all lost quite a bit of blood. "I'm going to need some of that back now.." He started marching towards Victoria..
Something very visceral happened to Laz's eye before his next pace hit the ground, and it was split along the middle spraying gore everywhere.
Maraud licked the blood from his claws and fixed Laz's remaining eye with a hungry look.
"That's us playing nice. Sure you don't want to call it quits now?"
Laz stubbled backwards holding his hands over his eye "I usually won't give up until my prey is in my stomach." Then looked at Maurad with his good eye "I'm not stupid however and continuing this fight in my current condition would mean my defeat so I'm outta hear for now but sleep with one eye open I'll be back." With that being said Laz jumped off into the trees in complete silence and was gone before earthier one could even realize what had just happened.
Maraud waited until the creature's scent had completely left the area.
Then he felt his muscles slacken as his body protested the stress he'd been unremittingly putting it through for hours.
He walked over to Victoria, ignoring the pain that every movement spiked through his slowly healing nerves.
"You did well, my apprentice. Now rise."
Having just fed, Victoria wounds healed rather quickly. She stood up and looked up at her master, her eyes now back to their blue color.
"Do you think he will come back?"
she looked up into the trees wondering if he was nearby stalking them. After a moment of searching the trees she looked back at Maraud noticing his body was slowly healing compared to hers
"Are you going to be alright?"
Maraud gave a low chuckle.
"If you please... it would take a lot more than a glorified zombie and hungry monkey to put me down. This holy zone isn't doing me any favors... come, we must be off."
He turned, to the forest ahead, past the temple. "And he wouldn't dare pursue us further, injured as he is. Had he found you alone, I would have feared you unable to hold your own, but you exceeded my expectations. For that, I am greatly pleased with you." He gave her a smile that, for him, exuded warmth and praise. "You are not too injured, I trust?"
Victoria looked down at her already healed body and shook her head
"I feel fine, I think feeding helped a lot"
She looked up at him
"Was it wrong for me to feed master? He was trying to hurt us and I didn't know what else to do. Plus I was starting to feel weak after being thrown around and bitten like that."
She moved her hand in the area where he tore a chunk of skin off her neck, it was as if nothing had happened. She wished she would have fed more, she didn't satisfy her hunger with that feeding.
"I need more master"
she blurted out feeling the urge to feed more
