Pushing the boundaries of science is no easy task – and when you're a woman in a male-dominated field, that makes everything harder. But Marie Curie held firm to her convictions, her theories and her results, even if what she discovered led to great hope and even greater destruction. From the 1870s to the modern era, the is a journey through Curie’s enduring legacies – her passionate relationships, scientific breakthroughs, and the consequences that followed for her and for the world. After meeting fellow scientist Pierre Curie (Sam Riley), the pair go on to marry and change the face of science forever by their discovery of radioactivity. The genius of the Curies’ world-changing discoveries and the ensuing Nobel Prize propels the devoted couple into the international limelight. But it wasn't always such an easy path for Marie, and she was haunted by what her work would lead to.

Directed by Persepolis and The Voices' Marjane Satrapi, Radioactive also features Aneurin Barnard, Anya Taylor-Joy and Simon Russell Beale. It'll be out in UK cinemas on 20 March.
