@Doomguy Well in 3 years from loli to mature beauty looked weird. It was like from 10 years to 18 she aged like wtf :D

Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge 6/10
I am not into loli's, so it was already a negative thing about this anime.
The only entertaining character I saw was Witch and not because of her boobs, but because of her personality. Smooth move in the end with Kiri lol
The ending totally not my taste... I wasn't satisfied at all.

I mostly agree with you ovyda, Dansai Bunri went absolute crap. I was enjoying it until that party episode, and was ready to rate it a 7 depending on how events turned out. But that final ep, what the hell? He finally awakened the serial killer inside himself and he only gropes her, screw this series.
So I ended up rating it a 6 too although for all that loli fanservice in the final I wanted to give it a 5, I can't stand the sexual exploitation of minor's like that and find it to be the most regrettable theme in the anime industry [yes worse than the rape theme]. Some reason the Japanese like their loli's though and as the nature of so many shows go there had to be bloody fanservice included. I didn't like the witch either, she did nothing and was all powerful[?] but did absolutely nothing at all, and they basically used her to go from the one extreme to the other for the fanservice. Also the credits, umm were they setting it up for a 2nd season? God I hope not now since that was quite a way to ruin a decent enough series that I actually enjoyed in the beginning.

    Shiki (Dubbed): 9/10
Without trying to sound like i'm overly enthusiastic or anything, i bloody loved this anime! At first i really wasn't sure if i was going to get into it but that fear vanished after episode four and i was driven forward by both the compelling storyline and the interesting question about the nature of monsters that lies very much at the core of this series.

I loved the whole aspect that made the line between which side is right or wrong, just or unjust, humane and monstrous not just blurry but sometimes completely obscured. Yes the vampires have been attacking people thruout but it says a lot that the true goriness of the series does not kick in until the humans start fighting back and then you see some truly unsettling scenes of what can only be called brutal murders and torture. You get to see into the deepest darkest part of human nature as they're not just perfectly fine with butchering these vampires, for essentially being different to them, but also toy with them as they throw them about, watch them burn in the sunlight, run them over with tractors and they even turn on and kill other humans cause they think they're helping the vamps! All the while they're shouting out how this is justice and not murder. Tho i was very much routed in the vampire's camp from quite early on i defy anyone to stand by and justify what the humans had done by the end of the anime.

If i have any problems with this anime it essentially boils down to two plot decisions:
    1. The doctor makes a tremendous leap of logic to come to the conclusion that vampires exist and are responsible for all the deaths in the village, having previously thought that they were caused by an epidemic of some kind. That and he is somewhat incompetent as a doctor having on several occasions completely dismissing "insect bites" as something worth investigating in deaths with unknown cause.

    2. The orange haired kid. This kind of character shows up a lot in these sorts of animes, headstrong and fearless and despite being a 5 year old (or whatever) perfectly happy to go storm the castle full of monsters. I'm sorry i never buy it. Kids are preprogrammed to immediately go to the parents they trust most whenever they're in trouble, be it when they've got a graze or when they're terrified they're going to be hurt by someone, so the idea that a kid that age is not just talking big (which, btw, if that had turned out to have been what he was doing and then ended up shaking and pissing himself in his bed, i could more than accept) but is willing to go so far as to run into a house where he KNOWS there are vampires completely alone to try and kill them is absolute bollocks in my eyes! He'd have to be completely and utterly insane with no self-preservation instinct what-so-ever, and yet as i say we come across characters like this a lot.
These, however, do not impact the story or the anime as a whole sufficiently enough to ruin one episode let alone your enjoyment of this anime as a whole.

So all in all an excellent anime well worth the watch, particularly if you're looking for something dark and different.

EDIT: @Supernatural-Knight: Just to quickly defend the loli thing (tho i'm not really a fan either, tho there are one or two that i like (Konata Izumi springs to mind). First off, not all loli's are underage (there are many many examples of loli's who're adults). Secondly the legal limit in Japan is much lower than even in my own nation (well by two whole years). Thirdly i think it's probably pretty popular over there because that's basically the Japanese body type, i'm not trying to stereotype but they are a much much smaller people than us with much smaller frames and much less body fat.

@Supernatural-Knight Exactly. They made him at last some maniac killer and how much we saw of him? Almost nothing... scared two loli's and violated Iwai's hair... oh wow! How scary... And then whole last episode is just pure talking and fanservice. Felt so out of place... And yes unfortunately I believe they will make 2nd season since there were so many unanswered questions...

@Ovyda, yeah it went from "hmm maybe they'll revive what little hope I had left for this series" to "screw this I'm out". That serial killers instincts began to shine wonderfully but... but....
Why must they do that? Fanservice and large doses of dialogue doesn't really work in most shows as it needs to have a balance between all the overall themes, this just ugh...
Such a waste of not too bad of a watch, I knew it would only go downhill once that party happened which was too bad since I enjoyed the episodes at the camp with the tool of whipping.
The thing I don't get is he basically shown her a vision of losing her arm to leave it at that just scaring the shit out of her. I don't get it, how was this the direction this show should have gone? Now 2nd season, shows generally get worse as time goes on, so this could either go further into the fanservice route or it could go more serial killer moments as that clip contained 1 I think.

@blurredexistence, from the little not in spoiler tags it sounds like I would like this series, so once more it has gained my attention, I should really make a list of priorities and not allow anything else to intervene.

Now about defending the loli's, it wasn't that they were petite for their age it was that they were young girls and are naturally loli's because of this. MAL has one listed as 14 but she looks much younger, 10 or less esp with some of the hairstyles they give her while the other one is even younger and doesn't have an age listed I'll provide picks so you can understand why I am severely disappointed by this outcome

    Hataraku Maou-sama! 9/10
The biggest surprise of the season to me. Lots of comedy before action, during the action and after the action. There's comedy integrated in every scene whether it's serious or not. However, it was done rather well. An anime that will be missed... my weekly laugh dose has ended :(

    Kakumeiki Valvrave 8/10
Well this mindfucking anime...At one moment I was thinking of dropping but then those nasty things started to happen. Doesn't make sense in most of the times this anime, but if you don't take it too seriously, it's quite good actually. Will say more after seeing 2nd season as right now they were introducing all those Valvrave pilots and antagonists.

    Bakuman season 1 - 9/10

This anime is really brilliant. Good characters, good story, good music, interesting plot, good suprises evry once in a while. The whole idea of an anime about people who make manga and aim to get an anime themselves is really brilliant if it's done right, and this is. Shows how much of a genius this author is. Making a manga for his own story and making mangas for the MC's, which is another story. And when they reach something and get a step closer to their dream, it gives such a good feeling. I still missed something which kept me from giving it a 10, but i can already say that this is a masterpiece and i will probably get to a 10 in season 2 or 3.

    Cyclops Soujo Saipuu - 6/10

2-3 minute anime, which was never meant to be serious. Sometimes the jokes were funny, sometimes not. It was a show about ecchi, including a minor girl who has the body of a 18-19 year old girl. I just couldn't get it higher than a 6.

    Edit:

    Hataraku Maou-sama - 9/10

Great comedy. The humour was great and it was always at the right time. The story was fun aswell and i just loved evry episode. The ending was kinda weird tho. Didn't feel like an ending. So i am now hoping for a season 2.

from the little not in spoiler tags it sounds like I would like this series, so once more it has gained my attention, I should really make a list of priorities and not allow anything else to intervene. Now about defending the loli’s, it wasn’t that they were petite for their age it was that they were young girls and are naturally loli’s because of this. @Supernatural-Knight: That's fair enough dude but after your original post i felt that it needed a little defending after a line like "I can’t stand the sexual exploitation of minor’s like that and find it to be the most regrettable theme in the anime industry" could be seen as indicative of the entire loli genre. It's fine to say that it's not to your personal taste but to slate and entire genre for something that only crops up in a small section of it, i feel, is unfair. Most loli's are, at least, of the legal age (in Japan that is 14).

I'll tell you the trope that creeps me out: All the animes with incestuous relationships between brother and sister. More times than not it turns out that they're not blood related but i still find it incredibly odd (and a bit unsettling) that such a genre is as popular in Japan as it is.

@blurredexistence, I see your point but yeah I was targeting loli's that are minors if they saw they are older so be it [even though I do still find it weird because lets face it a made up character can be whatever the hell age you want them to be], but when it comes to a minor it is unacceptable to me 100% of the time. That was my reason for condemning the entire genre of minor's ecchi, not ecchi as a whole since lets face it there is always some just added for the hell of it most times. Also I failed to mention it, but the 2nd half of the last ep was mostly censored by light because of the large amount of unneeded minor fanservice, I mean thanks for the censors but if they are needed then don't make the scene in the first place.

Brother sister relations aren't illegal everywhere and were once common place so perhaps this accounts for some of it. I think it has to do with the forbidden relationship which apparently makes things "hotter" or maybe it is just a theme the Japanese like to roleplay so seeing a situation like it gives them inspiration, who knows.

I guess to try and tie in with the thread, Uchuu Kyoudai though I am still catching up is an easy 9, brilliant show it really is, and the first ep I began with yesterday made me realise exactly who I enjoyed it so much. Can't believe I left it there for 3-4 weeks.

    Karneval - 5/10

I hoped this would be something good but i was wrong. I liked only 1 character, Gareki, and he got totally ruined by Nai and Yogi. Yogi was okay, but in the final ep he was annoying. Nai has always been annoying. The story was weird, confusing and too short to be totally explained and turned into something good. It wasn't as bad that i would drop it, but it was certainly a bad anime.

    edit:

    Darker than Black Season 2 - 8/10

First of all, i must say this is a great anime. Both seasons combined are a 9/10 for me. Special ep was so hilarious i rated it a 10/10. Still have to watch the OVA's.

This season wasn't as good as first season. Less interesting characters,

(don't read spoiler if you haven't seen it all)
Hei grew his hair and started to drink heavily, it started in Russia and not in Japan, which is the better setting for this anime.

Anyway, this is a must watch for action anime lovers. Maybe even for all anime lovers.

    Minor spoilers.

    Oregairu 9/10
Was nice to have a different type of romcom anime. Hikki's and Yukino's interaction + Hiki's monologues were the most amusing moments in the series. Well Saiko's moments were also great, especially the last episode when Hikki fell in love with him :D Glad to see that they didn't screw up with the ending.

Devil Survivor 2: The Animation 4/10
After giving us such great series as Persona 4, they screwed up with DS2 big time. The lack of information about everything, the lack of character development and even the story was such a letdown... At least the OST and animation itself was good.

Darker Than Black 2nd Season 9/10
If 1st season didn't get a 10 because there was too many little arcs into one season, than this time they made one big arc but failed with the ending. It's very unsatisfying and feels rushed/unfinished. I loved the OST tho, really, the opening song especially is one of my favorites.

    Karneval 6/10
The 1st episode was awesome, then there were many stupid/weird/annoying episodes. Around 9-12 episodes the fun finally started, but the last episode was a failure... After setting up everything so long they don't reach a conclusion. Nothing is learned about the Varuga, nobody is captured... yes they fulfilled Nai's wish, but that's not nearly enough for me to give more than a 6. Moreover, I was frustrated how Yogi and Nai always acted so girly with Gareki. They totally ruined such great char... OST wasn't bad, but nothing incredible as well.

@Supernatural-Knight haha! I told you that you'll love it! ^^ So far I am doing great with my recommendations to you, ain't I? Now it's time for you to start watching Bakuman and Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom. Well I wish you'd watch Prince of Tennis and Kuroko no Basket too, but I am not too confident on those that you'll like it.

I must second that motion on Phantom. I also remember that Gungrave is a similar choice as well.

I think I'm going to either drop or put it into deep freeze "Fafnar". I don't really like the characters too much. That and the fact I compare it too much to other mecha shows and find it lacking.

    Suisei no Gargantia 10/10
I'll be honest. I was loving this anime the most of this season. Yes, even more than Oregairu, Maou-sama and Shingeki no Kyojin. However, I never rated it higher than 9/10. It seemed like it was lacking something and that final episode showed what I was looking for to see - the real friendship can exist between anyone.

Gen Urobuchi has once again created a masterpiece. I have already totally loved Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom, Psycho-Pass and Fate/Zero done by him. I have currently also started watching Madoka Magica series (probably the only one so far looking average show out of his collection). This single person has created so many outstanding anime's. How can he do this, I have no clue, but he earned my respect just like Death Note and Bakuman authors. Almost anything they create, I love it ^^

Due to slow start it seems like SnG is a slice of life anime instead of action, mecha and sci-fi. Ledo the MC who came from the past where the technology level is far more greater, has totally different understanding about humanity and how people should live it than the local humans. It was fun watching him adjusting to the new world and how his perspective has changed during the series. All those "slice of life" moments actually had a deep meaning to the future events that happened later in the series. And the best part was those shocking events and twists that were done as great as always Gen does it.

To put it simply, a masterpiece ^^

    Arata Kangatari 7/10
A rather disappointing show. 7 is a good mark, but I was expecting more. The story was interesting, char design was appealing too, seems like a long running show, so it's a plus too, but... the fights were done so bad... basically just clashing swords few times and then only talking all the time until someone uses some kind of super strong power and that's it, on to the next scene and usually chars aren't even injured after this. There is more than enough room to improve.

I'm taking over this thread again :D

    Aku no Hana 7/10
Whoever dropped this due to animation, has missed a lot. Such good series for a change to watch. There were some moments when I had pokerface, some when I was laughing, some when I was simply WTF or facepalm. However, I enjoyed it thoroughly. Dark theme, great OST (very fitting the mood of the anime), weird dialogues, even the silent moments were somehow nicely done. I can't wait for the 2nd season after watching such preview. Simply wow... it's going to be epic!

    I was saving them up.

    Suisei no Gargantia - 10/10

I first ignored this anime when it started, thinking it's just another mecha like all the others which i don't like at all. Turns out it's a masterpiece. While catching up to it i was already thinking this is the best anime this season, better than Attack on Titan. They are right now pretty close imo, but Susei no Gargantia still tops it.

Spoilers alert, don't read if you haven't seen latest ep.

Chamber's last moment, awesome! ''Go to hell, tin can''. That made me lol so hard Throughout this whole anime, Ledo has been growing more and more into Gargantia and he would even have gone against his former commander for them. In the end, he works for them, lives with them, and is with Amy. The perfect ending for this anime. Chamber sadly was destroyed, but also that was done perfectly.

The revealings this anime had were amazing, with those humans who became Hideauze/squids, amazing. How they showed them in the end of the final ep, amazing.

The emotional part was done well too. That first leader of Gargantia dying, it was really a sad moment. He grew alot on me throughout the anime and then he died. The whole time with his funeral i was sad about it and the things they did during his funeral were beautiful. I was less of a fan of Ridget, probably because at first she didn't even attend the leaders funeral, which i didn't like at all. But after that she did okay.

Furthermore, i have to agree with Ovyda on this author. Fate/Zero was less for me, but still a very enjoyable anime. Phantom: Reqiuem of the Phantom is already amazing even though i'm not too far into it yet and Gargantia is a masterpiece. Still have to watch Psycho Pass to the end.

Anyways, this anime was a masterpiece. Number 9 of all time for me.

    Aku no Hana - 8/10

When it just started, i became curious about things i heard from people that were in the manga, so i decided to take a peek in the manga and i kept reading it up untill one point. That point still hasn't been reached. Even though i knew what would happen, i still enjoyed it. That's enough for me to give it such a high mark. I didn't read evrything, it was more like skipping through and reading major events, so i still got suprised sometimes. I laughed, was shocked at the many wtf moments and sat through the boring moments. I think the theme of this anime is great and intrugues alot. Which i like. I think this is a very good anime and i agree that people who dropped this due to the animation truly missed out.

    Arata Kangatari - 7/10

I enjoyed this anime, but there were alot of negative points in it. Arata's classmate was annoying and evrytime he showed up, it got less enjoyable. He carried a bad aura :p This anime felt very rushed to me, especially the last ep. And they showed too less of long haired Arata. Other than that, i liked evrything. The plot was good, the story was nice, the characters were likeable. I liked some events that happened, overall an enjoyable anime. And it has a good set up for season 2.

Ok so thanks to some personal stuff i've got a backlog of three animes to put up here now and i'm just going to do some quick summaries of my thoughts rather than go too into it as well.

    Yuyushiki (Subbed): 9/10
When it comes to my rating of this series understand that it's all personal opinion, i love animes like this and so i've rated it very highly. On the technical side of things tho i can see the possibility of some people not getting on with the humour, the art style or pace of this anime. Having said that tho i found it incredibly funny and i really loved the train of thought these girls would often wonder off into.

    Hataraku Maou-sama! (Subbed): 9/10
This anime was just awesome! Characters, story, comedy, action it got it all right. The premise is also incredibly interesting and works really really well. There are a couple of plot holes here and there but when you're having this much fun you can dismiss them really easily.

    07-Ghost (Subbed): 8/10
This anime is very good when it comes to the story and the action, and the characters are likeable as well (for the most part), however, this is the gayest anime i've ever watched! Speaking as someone who doesn't watch Yaoi that is. It's all male bonds of friendship stuff but it's also seriously suggestive of a lvl beyond sometimes and it's hard to ignore it... in fact my patience with it was waning by the end of the series. Also there isn't a single female character in the main cast either side, heroes or villians, there are 4 women who could be called secondary characters, i suppose, but they don't really contribute anything much to the story. I find this whole state of affairs quite ridiclous cause in my view if you just replaced 3 of the main cast with women then this story would make a lot more sense, be a HECK of a lot less gay and overall it would feel like a more solid 8/10 and i definitely would not have been tempted to reduce my final score to a 7 (which i obviously didn't cause i felt that would have been unfair to the anime that it is at it's core). All in all tho if you can put up with the male bonding then this is a very good series and i would recommend it.

Now i don't know what to go for next... is Attack on Titan done yet? If not suggestions are welcome tho i tend to choose animes by mood these days so i can't promise i'll take em on. = p

I must second that motion on Phantom. I also remember that Gungrave is a similar choice as well. I think I’m going to either drop or put it into deep freeze “Fafnar”. I don’t really like the characters too much. That and the fact I compare it too much to other mecha shows and find it lacking.

I remember rating Fafnar very highly... tho i can't quite recall why. How far along with it are you? I think it's one of those animes that one struggles with initially but picks up a lot somewhere in the second half of the series.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai Next 8/10
Completed whole season in one sitting. I have to say that it was far more better and interesting than 1st season (which was a huge disappointment to me). Finally some character development I was able to see in this one, and the comedy level got better too. Even Yozora wasn't as annoying as before and Sena stopped crying all the time and running off whenever something doesn't go the way she wants to.

    Things I liked and disliked
I was glad that Yozora's almighty role was finally crushed. She even did the same as Sena used to in the 1st season quite often - cry and leave the room.

Moreover, I liked the progress Sena was making with her feelings and how her father announced to everyone about their marriage. I was really hoping something will happen between them and my hopes aren't crushed yet... My next pick would definitely be Rika. She was the most amusing character to me although her perverted thoughts sometimes were a bit too much... However, she was really cute...trying so much to receive attention from Kodaka was touching :) Going even further, Kate-chan aka Maria's onee-sama was really a great addition to the series. Same applies with Student Council President (wish she joined the harem earlier). However, they didn't get enough scene as I wished :(

Leaving the last for the worst... that ending... I mean whole 14th episode was TERRIBLE. Ruined everything totally for me. It had 9/10 rating before it...but that "brain controlling magnets" thing was seriously out of place no matter how you look at it... What's more frustrating that Kodaka is a wimp and can't face his true feelings... just jeez make a move already on someone -.- Or at least give an answer to Sena's confession. You can't leave a girl just like that for weeks after she confessed to you -.- And then boom... ending 2nd season at such cliffhanger... ragequit.

^Do i have to explain Kodaka's social anxiety disorder again? = p Lol Seriously tho that ending was a bit of a hammer blow to the series even for me (i also totally agree with what you said about the magnets, fine she's a scientist genius but that's going way way way too far!), and if we don't get a third series to clear it all up then i'll probably demote my overall rating for the anime because of it. I can not imagine a worse kind of cliffhanger with which to end a series (good for keeping you gripped but too much for the kind of wait we have to sit thru).

Apparently there was no more material... writer was ill and didn't write new volumes until recent which aren't translated yet :(
