The July issue of Kodansha's Hatsu Kiss magazine is revealed on Tuesday that manga creator Akiko Higashimura is producing and planning a new manga series titled Bingle Bingle Bassan. Jong Gu Zee, the manga's writer and artist, posted an illustration to commemorate the manga's launch on Tuesday.

The manga centers on a South Korean girl named Sena who becomes the new roommate of Wakaba. As they share their mealtime habits, their friendship deepens.

Higashimura is resuming her Princess Jellyfish (Kuragehime) manga after keeping it on hiatus since January 2016. Higashimura launched the series in Kiss in 2008, and Kodansha published the manga's 16th compiled book volume in May 2016. Crunchyroll publishes the manga in English on its online platform, and Kodansha Comics debuted the series in English in print in February 2016. The manga inspired a 2010 television anime series that Funimation released in North America and a 2014 live-action film. The manga is nominated for an Eisner Award.

Higashimura also published the final chapter of Higashimura's Tokyo Tarareba Girls (Tokyo Tarareba Musume) manga on April 25. The series inspired a live-action series that premiered on January 18.
