The official website for Overlord III, the third television anime season based on Kugane Maruyama's Overlord novel series, began streaming a commercial and two episode one previews on Friday.

The anime will premiere on July 10 on AT-X, Tokyo MX, and MBS, and it will debut for the AbemaTV streaming service on the same day. The show will also premiere on BS11 on July 11, and on TV Aichi on July 12. Crunchyroll will stream the anime, and Funimation will stream an English dub. The anime is listed with 13 episodes.

Madhouse is returning from the first two seasons to animate the new season. OxT is returning to perform the opening theme song "VORACITY," while MYTH&ROID is also returning to perform the ending theme song "Silent Solitude."

The anime's new cast members include:

The second series premiered in January and ended on April 3. Crunchyroll streamed the second series as it aired, and Funimation streamed an English dub.

The first 13-episode Overlord television anime series premiered in Japan in July 2015. Funimation streamed the anime series as it aired in Japan, and the company released the series with an English dub on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in November 2016.

The novels and anime's story takes place in the year 2138 when virtual reality gaming is booming. Yggdrasil, a popular online game, is quietly shut down one day. However, the protagonist Momonga decides to not log out. Momonga is then transformed into the image of a skeleton as "the most powerful wizard." The world continues to change, with non-player characters (NPCs) beginning to feel emotion. Having no parents, friends, or place in society, this ordinary young man Momonga then strives to take over the new world the game has become.
