    Nobunaga the Fool

The Western Planet and the Eastern Planet.
Once upon a time, the two sides were bound by the "Dragon Pulse" spanning the heavens.

The civilization that once had prospered has now turned to a tale of dreams, as the inextinguishable flames of war tear the realm asunder. The two planets remain engulfed in endless battles.

The return of the super technology known as "sacred treasures" could revolutionize the world order, but no one knows of them but one person—a "heretical girl."

A girl from the Western Planet, Jeanne Kaguya d'Arc, saw heavenly visions of the birth of a "Star Messiah" who will save the world. She embarks on a journey to the Eastern Planet with Leonardo da Vinci, "the one who observes the world." They come across the heretic of the Eastern Planet and "the greatest fool of the day," Oda Nobunaga.

This will be online soon enough, whats everyone think about historical figures being thrown into a mecha battle show like this?

Frankly to me I don't really care two things sold me on watching this show, firstly nobunaga being called 'the greatest fool of the day' as well as him being voiced by Miyano Mamoru [steins gate Okarin, death notes light], secondly Tomokazu Sugita playing Da Vinci [gintama's Gintoki, daily lives of high school boys Hidenori] even if he is only a support character I don't care.

Saw first episode. This seems like it could be interesting. They have a world that is like earth yet not earth and seems to have an interesting history as well as unique creatures like this replacements for horses. not much happened in this first episode so I can't judge it yet but it has plenty of potential. The characters don't seem half bad so far and the world is colorful and unique enough to make an interesting story with. So how well it turns out is going to depend on how well the writers work with what they have.

    I saw the first episode.
I felt a little bored watching it, but it does have potential.
It's all up the Staff now to see where this goes.
But since it's Satelight, I'll give it a 50/50 chance of being something really good.

I liked the first episode. I don't have much to say yet, but the characters are interesting and i liked the way the first ep was heading.

    My thoughts on ep 1:
By stars, are meaning separate solar systems?
The interior of those first mecha remind me of Lagann.
    DaVinci?! Wot?
And just overall, I think I'm a bit bored by this anime already...

From the first episode it isn't the greatest but then again you never expect a masterpiece from the first episode now do you. I am very interested in this show and think it could have a lot of potential but it all depends on how the writers go about it. I think starting with the burning of Joan of Arc, then shifting to the fall of Honnou-ji temple [Nobunaga's death] was a very interesting way to go about very beginning. After a while I lost a bit of interest since Nobunaga seemed too childish for my liking. And I'm not sure but Jeanne seemed more like the damsel in distress type which I'm not too fond of. Hopefully these two will grow as characters and fast otherwise my interest may fall especially since this is mecha.

On the plus side, Da Vinci was intriguing and definitely knew more than what he let on. As expected I enjoyed hearing Tomokazu Sugita playing that role, now I want him to keep returning.

I think the most interesting part is the two stars being kind of like different planets yet existing on the same earth[?]. It is true that Japan was closed off in these times and for a long time afterwards as well, maybe the separate stars are to show this metaphorically, who knows?

I saw the first episode and im not going to lie i got lost and was very weirded out how the japanese people from history i know are in this anime but it shows their character other than their outward appearances for the character design

EDIT: I now finished up to episode 3 of this show on the midnight channel and like nobunagun it got really good after episode

i especially like how they mess up and rip off history makes me laugh when i actually know the history

also episode 3 he wen kaioken X4 and used the spirit bomb

This is basically how I feel right now. I'm going to watch the second episode tonight and will watch the third at some point. If it can't keep my interest after that, I may have to move on.

seen the first three eps. they peeked my interest in the way they played it out compared to the historic figures the characters are based off. separating the western civilization and eastern civ into two separate planets or "stars" i think they refereed to them as was also interesting. I look forward to seeing how the story plays out and if they can keep my interest.

well so far so good. i got introduced to a kamina like character. a busty female main character (which i just ignored for the sake of my enjoyment) and hideyoshi. xD well i expected this much that there would be a character who would erase the trap meaning of that name.

well anyways, east and west plot really reminds me of the movie 'the last samurai' with all this opening to the western countries for trade and military power.

thats just what i could share for now as i only watched the first 2 eps.

This was what I first thought of as well, see my earlier post, I think it is the only way to view it considering Japan's history

Hideyoshi was a warlord from Japan's history long before baka to test and has made several appearances in anime over the years, frankly I'm surprised that this is the first Hideyoshi you've seen based from history. Also I hope you've seen ep 3 now, but Jeanne is taping herself to conceal her female identity. I personally found that great since she is meant to be Ranmaru, and from history he was a feminine male so it makes enough sense there, although most portrayals have him with black hair so I am curious if they'll dye her hair to hide the fact that she is from the west.

After watching 3 episodes it is good enough to keep watching but still isn't anything I'd particularly brag about [apart from Nobunaga and Da Vinci being in the same show]. I'm still waiting for the section of this show that is meant to hook us into watching the rest of the show, although this thunder regalia definitely is overpowered.

Yeah so far Nodunagun seems like the better Nobunaga show because it's just having a lot more fun even if it's not really doing anything new. Plus at least this one has Nobunaga using a gun. Wasn't he known for using guns rather effectively for his time period?

Nobunaga seems like an interesting character but I feel like I've seen his character in too many other series. He's the hot shot eccentric character who inspires loyalty and always manages to come out on top with a smile. It's a nice type of character to use but something about him just isn't really drawing me in much. So far the thing that interests me the most is the world itself. The two stars, their cultures, and their environments look very interesting.

All the period inaccuracies are making the show a lot more fun than it would be if they were sticking to his general history.

eh.... maybe. It feels like they should use at least a little more of him though. If you don't use anything of the person or history you are basing a character off of then it feels more like someone's name was just slapped onto the character. Even more so when it's a character type I feel like I've seem before. I'm not trying to be overly critical of the show it's just I feel they could have done better with this and it's because of stuff like this I'm having a hard time getting invested in the show.

I'll wait until I see more before I truly judge the show though.

I'm speaking mainly about the era and not Nobunaga himself. I'm tired of seeing shows portray the period correctly (or attempt to at least). It's actually more fun to me throwing in the mecha and adding some variation to an otherwise set in stone story.

I agree with that. Period pieces are fun and all but if they all go by the book then they are all basically the same thing. It's like if you made a movie and then a dozen remakes. Even if each remake is just as good if not better than the last they are still remakes and it's just the same thing again.

That is part of why I think "The ambition of Oda Nobuna" was surprisingly good. Sure the idea of replacing historical figures with young girls seems like a cheap harem set up but at least it puts a new spin on things especially when show events start to diverge from history. Plus they actually treat the show and characters with a lot of dignity and hold back on a lot of the fan service and only one character seem truly attracted to the MC so it's not really much of a harem.

Like I said earlier the thing I like most about this show is the world this is all set in. The creatures, environment and just east and west becoming two planets is all very good. But it's just Nobunaga himself and the rest that feel like they are trying to be eccentric and interesting but are really acting the same as every eccentric character does. Even his two friends are pretty standard because you have the smiling character who loves machines and you have the straight faced guy who appears to have undying loyalty. They aren't bad characters but I just don't feel all that interested in them so far partly because it feel like I've seen them before.

Three episodes in and I'm still on the fence about this anime. I may give it a bit more and see if things pick up. More mecha fights would do the trick for me.
