NIS America president and CEO Takuro Yamashita issued a statementregarding the localization of the Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita game on Tuesday. In the statement, he apologized for quality that "has not reached an acceptable level," and announced that a new translator and editor are going over the entire localization to create a free patch that will be out by the end of November for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. The patch will be included with the PC version when it launches.

According to Yamashita, the patch will include re-translated and re-edited dialogue when necessary, including updated voice overs.

Yamashita also noted that the company is investigating the causes of the issues with the initial localization so that "a similar situation does not occur again."

Nihon Falcom released the game in Japan on May 25 and NIS America released the game for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on September 12 in North America and September 15 in Europe. A PC release was slated for September 12 but it has been delayed and no new release date has been announced.
