That is hardly fair. I mean sure it could just be a half baked copy but SAO was not the first one to use that set up especially if you look at manga. Yureka and 1/2 prince are both manga set in a game like world. Granted the gaming populace aren't trapped inside the game but that alone isn't enough to judge a series. So just call it a similar anime not a carbon copy. At least wait until the anime comes out.

The virtual MMORPG theme and being trapped in the game was new at the time when .Hack introduced it. Yet hardly anyone complained when SAO came out. Now Log Horizon is premiering and I've noticed people on other forums as well are starting to complain. If you had seen .Hack// Sign when it aired would you have said the same thing when SAO was released? .Hack runs over multiple series and there was less complaining when SAO attempted to make its run (SAO of course gained its own criticism from aspects which were not related to it being compared to SAO). So what I'm getting at is, I tried keeping an open mind when watching SAO. I rarely compared it to .Hack even though SAO obviously took a lot of its inspiration from there. So I'm going to do the same with Log Horizon.

The theme isn't even one which has been done very much. If you wanna start talking about carbon copies let's discuss all these slice of life, high school girl anime which has been monotonously reproduced season after tedious season.

Kill La Kill is made by the same studio, director, and writer and Gurren Lagann

I think it's just the writer and director. From what I've seen, it looks like Trigger is the studio behind it, and they've been behind Little Witch Academia and Inferno Cop.

I'm going with Kill la Kill and Kyoukai.

@Keiichi-Morisato, exactly what Spor and Meta said about that it's wrong to judge an anime on ''copying'' other series, while this is hardly even copying. Also the fact that SAO was a ''copy'' aswell. And pretty much all ideas have been used already, so it's hard to avoid ''copying''.

Also, SAO wasn't made the way it was suppose to be made. I loved it, but when they finished the SAO world and went to the fairy world, it was partly ruined. I was hoping that SAO would be as great as i expected it to be, but it wasn't, now i'm hoping Log Horizon will be.

Also 1 thing i noticed, the writer of Kill la Kill is the same as TTGL, but he has a different person for the art this time.

Exactly the thing I loved most about SAO was that it took the setting I had only seen one other time, in .Hack, and did it's own thing with it. The whole "Trapped in an MMORPG" Has the potential for a lot of different spins on it so it's really about time we had an anime or two take a crack at it. So many other settings have been done to death and while I'm a little afraid the same might happen with the MMORPG setting at least we can have fun with it before we get just as sick of it as every other setting.

I looked at the PV for Log Horizon and honestly the only difference I see is the use of magic which is why i called it a SAO rip.
    SAO with magic basically.

@Keiichi Morisato I feel it has more differences than just that. Just looking at the previews I feel it has a different sense of humor about it and the main character doesn't seem like a "Beater" which is refreshing because Kirito did feel a bit over powered especially in the second half. Now I might be wrong. maybe it will feel like a SAO clone but just looking at the preview it doesn't feel like that to me. I guess we'll find out who was right when the anime airs.

BTW when does the voting end exactly? I didn't see an end date in the first post and I don't remember how it was done in the past.

Because from looking at a preview you know how a complete anime is like... I think this anime might just be better than SAO. SAO wasn't done perfectly and so that leaves it open for new animes to do it perfectly instead. I am hoping Log Horizon will be like that because i like the idea of being stuck in a game.

@Meta, Kirito was a hacker in the 2nd part of SAO. That's why he was overpowered :D

@metazoxan, the end date was left vague for a reason, I haven't yet checked out the air dates for these series. I know they begin this season but the exact dates are beyond what I've researched yet. Best date I can give for now is the last of the month, however one of the options may begin before then and the date will be bumped forward to comply with the possibility of it winning. So nothing concrete yet, will provide an actual date when I know but for now leave it as the end of the month.

Okay so I'm voting and adding Hatless's which he had posted on Skype so I'll quote that part of the chat, my votes currently are for Kill la Kill and Kyoukai no Kanata

Actually previews can be a bit Biased. They show all the best stuff they can in the best way they can. For good reason obviously but this can create a false impression that an anime is fulled with these moments when in fact the few scenes in the preview are practically all they had. I've seen that happen so a preview can give you an idea of what's in store but it can't tell you everything.

Also I know he was a hacker but it doesn't change the fact that he was a bit over powered. With anime characters you normally now the MC is going to win but the exciting part is how will he win. With Kirito you knew how, he would just deus ex machina his way through whatever problem or some other over powered trick. Like turning into a giant monster and wasting a bunch of guys or dual weilding the enemy captain into submission. It kinda took the excitement away. There are ways to write an over powered MC and still make it an exciting watch but SAO didn't really do that.

But enough about SAO it's in the past and Log Horizon is our hopeful future. Lets see if they can succeed where SAO failed.

The animation looks a little weird to me. But I'll get used to it so that isn't a real issue. BUt at about 2:35 did I just spy a giga drill break? Damn this trailer made me even more excited for this anime. I mean it just looks so absurd but in a good way. The same kinda absurd that made Gurren Lagann fun. I'm going to enjoy discussing this.

I'm afraid Kill la Kill will be like Gurren Lagann in more ways than just that crazy feeling. Great characters but a very weak story. I hope i'm wrong.

    @Supernatural-Knight,

Thanks Bato I was going to do that when I had the time so you made things a whole lot easier, okay so despite Kill la Kill's start date being the 28th this vote thread will still be open until the first when exactly still not sure but thats the cut off date. Why its start date is being ignored is simple "Episode 1 will be previewed at a screening in Tokyo on September 28, 2013. Regular broadcasting begins on October 4, 2013." Special advanced screenings of anime very rarely make it onto the internet so we will be watching it onward from the true date being October 4th, should it win.

Haha yeah I know, kyoani's reputation of "moe" does seem like an odd thing for me to vote for. This can still change but I was voting from the 2nd trailer I saw since making this thread. The beginning of it makes it look quite interesting, despite there seeming to be a character design copy of some of their previous series
