Melee March Elimination Game

Just because Ichigo is a quincy by birth doesn't mean that his style of combat is different than what we've known throughout the entire series.Also a lot of quincies apparently have melee forms of combat, even Uryu has the Seele Schneider or whatever its called.

Though I think he does use Getsugas about as often as Inuyasha used the wind scar, which means a lot.

Stupid asshat throwing in genuinely wonderful ideas with the most lame crap I've ever seen. He throws some nice touches in there and gives the audience what it wants sometimes (like development for smaller characters) with genuinely unique art, but Ichigo's "character arc" is a mess with no motivations, rhythm, or reason. I can only assume that he gave him the quincy background so that in the end, Juha can stare up at him and accuse him of fighting to destroy the quincies despite never understanding them, and then Ichigo can say he can, because he is every type of being in that goddamn show as if Human/Soul Reaper by action/Hollow/Soul Reaper by birth/Ultra Jesus (by way of his final Getsuga Tensho)/Fullbringer/Quincy. Hell if Kubo released a character book that said he was 1/16th Bount and he never fucking got around to telling us, even though the Bounts were primarily an anime thing, I wouldn't be surprised. Or hell, maybe his father will explain that he only knew about the final Getsuga Tensho because he's not a soul reaper, but a zanpatuko given human form, so he's really part sword and he'll defeat Juha by becoming a sword and cutting him (oh god Soul Eater why?).
So in summation, if Kubo became an illustrator ala Obata I would love it so much. His art is genuinely good, it's just his plots suffer from so many neuroses I feel like he needs a therapist.

Man, I haven't had one of those posts in a while. You guys can probably ignore the second spoiler. I haven't watched the other, so I'm not comfortable about the other guys fighting style. I mean I know he cancels things, but does he punch things in addition to that?

It's more a kind of magic/esper power than a melee weapon. Strictly speaking, if we're talking about his "weapon", we should be talking about his fists.

WUUUUUUTTTTTT???? Well, I feel silly now. =P Granted I'm still a little over 100 episodes off from finishing Bleach, that just tossed everything I thought I knew out the window.

Still, I'd maintain that he's a melee fighter, his primary weapon (for as far as I've watched, which is 200+ episodes) is a sword. A sword that can shoot stuff, granted, but still a sword. And from what I can recall, even though he likes to fire off a lot of Getsuga Tenshos, he seems to use it as a melee weapon just as much.

And I guess it's true that he does use it as a melee weapon a lot more than the other shinigami at least...
