Because Zoro is one of the less dislikeable characters in OP, and because I haven’t figured out why I don’t like Kenshin yet. XD

Voted for Zoro because I find him easily more skilled. Kenshin is possibly faster but like I said before he puts too much focus on speed. Also Zoro can wield three swords instead of one which more than makes up for any speed disadvantage. But Zoro is certainly not slow so the difference is speed wouldn't be too great and and he puts a lot of emphasis in strong strikes. Even if you power him down a bit, since the level of people in One Piece vs the level of people in Kenshin is really big, Zoro would still have some powerful attacks. When everyone is relaxing on the ship he's training his body which is something we never really saw from Kenshin. Plus just the fact he can use three swords and make that work speak a lot for his skill. Good old Kenshin is classic but you could say part of his problem is lack of ambition. After he learned his style he never really tried to get stronger until before his fight with Shishio and even then he stopped after his foe was defeated. Zoro doesn't train to beat someone he trains to be the best swordsman in the world.

So because of that Zoro continues to get stronger and more skilled while Kenshin only has small periods of growth. Kenshin is still an amazing swordsman but at some point Zoro surpassed him because of his lack of training.

Erza is easily the better Melee user here. The fact Maka can use a scythe as a weapon is pretty good but Erza could almost certainly do the same and more. Erza's strength is variety. She has armor and weapons for almost every occasion and can use them all perfectly and that is what makes her such a good Melee character. Because Erza's power isn't as easy as it might seem. Sure she has all kinda of magic weapons and armor but you need to know how to control each one and use it to it's fullest which is what Erza does. Plus her Basic Swordsmanship is top notch and she can even use the one or two sword style easily.

Also according to her Wikia page Erza owns over 100 different types of armor and over 200 different types of weapons.


One thing I'd like to point out with this armor in particular is although it's the Armor giving her flight it's her skill that allows her to fight in aerial combat which can actually be rather hard.

But she doesn't use that magic for long range she's still Melee and the magic is in the armor and weapons but she is still extremely skilled. She can weild dual swords with ease and there have been times where she left behind her fancy armor and just summoned normal swords and she still kicked but.

Plus that argument doesn't really work here since Maka basically uses a magical weapon herself. If you take Soul away from Maka and take Erza's armors then Erza is still able to use a vast array of weapons, is very strong and agile, and is especially skilled with the sword. The fact that she can also use magic doesn't make her any less of a swordswoman.
