It has been quite the journey for writer Joe Hill and artist Gabriel Rodriguez' graphic novel Locke & Key. Bouncing between screens big and small, it has seen scripts, casts and behind-the-scenes talent come and go. Now, finally, it'll arrive on Netflix next month and the first trailer has landed.

Locke & Key, which debuted via IDW Publishing in 2008 written by Hill and illustrated by Rodriguez, is a complex, sprawling tale that has a history going back to the American Revolution. But the focus is on Nina Locke (Darby Stanchfield) and her children Tyler (Connor Jessup), Kinsey (Emilia Jones) and Bode (Jackson Robert Scott), who are trying to start a new life after surviving an unspeakable horror. Looking to rebuild, they move to the family home known as Keyhouse in Lovecraft, Massachusetts. There, they discover magical keys that can open portals that are also being sought by a terrifying, hate-filled creature who has his own designs on the portals.

Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill are the executive producers, with Vincenzo Natali, Tim Southam and Dawn Wilkinson among the directing roster. Locke & Key will launch its 10-episode first season on 7 February.
