Video game news website IGN began streaming the first 12 minutes of Square Enix's feature-length CG film Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV on Monday.

The film will open in select theaters in North America on August 19, followed by a digital release on August 30 through various streaming and digital download outlets. The film will be available on PlayStation Video.

The film will then ship on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on October 4.

The film opened in Japan on July 9. The Blu-ray Disc in Japan was slated to ship on September 30, the same day Final Fantasy XV was scheduled to ship worldwide, but since the game has been delayed to November 29, the Blu-ray Disc release has also been delayed to an as-yet-unspecified date.

The story of Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV takes place during the storyline of the Final Fantasy XV game, and follows what happens to King Regis after Noctis leaves on his trip with his friends. The film stars Aaron Paul as Nyx, Lena Headey as Lunafreya, and Sean Bean as King Regis.

Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata produced the film. Takeshi Nozue (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children co-director, co-producer) directed the film, and Takashi Hasegawa (1999 GTO film, Crows Explode) wrote the script. John Graham composed the music, and Yoko Shimomura (who is composing the music for the game) composed the main theme.
