Kill la Kill discussion

Well ep 8 was a fun way to lead up to the Sudden Death Matchups. The Discipline Committee leader diving that pick convertible was fun.


I am curious as to where this will go, so far its kind of been episodic with fights only taking a small amount of time to complete, and considering how easy some of them have been….
I don't know I guess I'm just hoping it won't stay in this set up for much longer, and that it will get better character development wise.



I agree here. I'm hoping that these next fights take a lot longer, maybe even two episodes to get all the way through for each, then three to four for the final fight with the Class Pres.

Now saying that I did enjoy the backstory of Kiryuin and what little there was of Ryouko's

So finished ep 9 this morning. It was an interesting fight and we got to see a new technique from Ryouko. My only concern is if the anime keeps this pace, Ryouko will be fighting the Class Pres by ep 13 and MAL has it set for 24. Not sure how this will span out. Maybe my making the next few fights span longer than a single ep?

It was still funny though, seeing some of the images.

 

Well another good episode. Was surpirsed the computer guy's fight was so short. But the new Jet form was awesome! I like how each of the Elite four are members for unique and good reasons. Most other anime just have the big boss and his various generals or whatever. Maybe a couple will stick out for having reasons for working for the antagonist but most of them are rather cliche or not realistic reasons. But all four of them have good reasons. The big guy was inspired by Satsuki and chose to support her ambition. The kendo guy joined.... I thik because she beat him? I think he had a reason but I kinda forget it because the whole "I'm going to blind myself" thing kinda overshadowed it. The tech guy came because he likes a challange and the band girl is basically just a childhood friend who also got inspired but since they've known eachother since childhood she is more casual than the big guy. None of their reasons are unnecessarily complicated or full of trama and angst or any of that. here are a few cliche reasons they could have gone with
1. She ruined one of their lives in a tramatic way and they joined to target her themselves.
2. Their loves ones are taken hostange.
3. They opposed her and were forcibly enlisted upon defeat. She kinda did this with the Kendo guy but she didn't force him to join after crushing him and it was a fight both sides took part in it wasn't just her destroying them.

Plus she asks them all to join so they are all hand picked by her to follow her. It gives them more of a team feel than a "Supreme leader and her generals" kinda feel. She is the clear leader but she seems to acknowledge their ability and resolve enough to not cast them aside after a defeat. It just makes them all much more interesting characters because they aren't just cartoon villains with cheesey speaches and such.

 

Latest episode, I was already getting tired of the classical music, & I think this is gonna get a little more violent in the next episode

 

Holy crap, I'm on the hype train for the next episode.
That ending.
That voice acting.
Give that person an award.

 

You know what....

Noone has said how incredibly ecchi this is, even compared to GL.

Badass it is, still hella ecchi.

 

Because I'm still sitting here being shocked that the new girl is being voiced by Yukari Tamura.
Which means Ryuuko is done for.

Okay I swear to God, if this new guy turns out to be a love interest for Ryuuko.
I will be so pissed and sad.
Kill la Kill is insane and awesome, and if romance is added into it.
I feel as though it'll make the show look cheap.
You know:
"You know this show is awesome and all, but we need romance to make it sell even more."
I'll be blunt, romance has ruined shows for me in the past (See Shakugan no Shana).
Kill la Kill is running high, and a romance sub-plot will ruin it.

More Ryuuko x Mako scenes are appreciated though.
I'm contradicting myself yes but they'd be cute together.

So this was an interesting episode with Ryuuko loosing it and all. Gave us a good insight into what can happen. I'm still a bit concerned how they will make this last all 25 episodes and still keep up the intense pace.

Yeah this episode was insane. Kinda surprised they went through the WHOLE reveal about her father's death just like that. But still if it wasn't for the fact that the "Blood" looked more like water than anything this episode would have needed a mature rating.... just.... so much blood. Really good episode though. Also I don't think you need to worry about pacing issues. It looks like the plot is moving from the school to a "Field trip" to conqure the other schools. Since she needed ultimate uniforms for her 4 elites before going on this conquest I'm guessing they also use life fibers in some way or have the means to properly fight back. Whatever the case may be we still don't know much about that Satsuki's mother or "Nudist beach" so there is still plenty to fill about 12 or 13 episodes. In fact this could be even longer if they have the budget because there is plenty for them to be able to do without getting boring.I also still wonder if Satsuki and Matoi will team up. It would seem that while Satsuki is technically apart of the same group as eye patch girl she really doesn't like that girl and has her own ambitions.

 

To those that might not know Kill la Kill episode 13 will not air until 1-09-14.
