The official YouTube channel of Fuji TV's Noitamina programming block began streaming a teaser trailer for the compilation films of the Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress anime on Monday. The video previews various scenes from the television anime, including scenes from the final battle.

The compilation films will have two parts. The first part will debut in theaters on December 31 and the second half will debut on January 7. Both will run for two weeks in theaters.

The anime premiered on April 7 and ended on July 1. The second episode was delayed due to special news coverage of the Kumamoto earthquake on April 15. The series' broadcast resumed one week later with the second episode.

The "steampunk survival action" story takes place on the island country Hinomoto, where humans hide themselves in fortresses called stations against the threat of zombie-like beings with steel hearts known as "Kabane." Only armored locomotives known as "Hayajiro" go between the stations.

The anime reunited director Tetsuro Araki and Wit Studio, the team responsible for Attack on Titan. Code Geass creator Ichiro Okouchi wrote the scripts. Haruhiko Mikimoto (Macross 7, Gunbuster) designed the original characters, and Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan, Aldnoah.Zero) composed the music.

The first episode of the original anime Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress aired on April 8 and the series ended with 12 episodes on June 30. It is another product of a collaboration between Wit Studio and director Araki, both responsible for the Attack on Titan anime. Crunchyroll recently announced their plans to dub the anime and release it on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in North America and the series streamed worldwide on Amazon Prime Instant Video.

In addition to the two compilation films a life-size prototype figure of Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress' Mumei was unveiled in color at the "Kabaneri & Battery Exhibition ~ Sanshin Mokuhyō de Rokkon Seijō ~" event in the first floor atrium of Odaiba Aqua City's Cinema Mediage on Sunday. The character's voice actress Sayaka Senbongi presented the figure to the audience.

The Noitamina Shop opened a page for the figure where interested fans can submit an application to purchase one of 10 life-size Mumei figures. The figures will be sold based on a lottery system of submitted applications. Each figure will cost 2,500,000 yen (US$24,887).

The figure's design is based off illustrations by original character designer Haruhiko Mikimoto, stands poised in full gear with guns ready. The figure commemorates the upcoming release of the two Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress compilation films.

In regards to the creation of the figure, the creators worked to follow the reference material closely. Chief animation director and character designer Yasuyuki Ebara and overall setting supervisor Junpei Kasaoka supervised the creation. Director Tetsuro Araki checked the gun modeling and some of the anime's production staff also looked over the project in great detail.
