Well here's something iv'e been enjoying. Boy I miss my D&D days.

It would be great, people trapped in a game of money and if they go bankrupt their very life is sold away. Friends disappear, family and children cease to exists, and ultimately your very existence becomes null.

I'm not saying it's true that he said that. But, this was in the time when saying things against Christianity would get you publicly ridiculed and possibly punished/out of a job. Darwin himself was very tentative in his statements not only because of this, but because he was among the first to discover the process of natural selection, and was undergoing cognitive disequilibrium, the state in which two conflicting ideas are in the brain at the same time.

 

Or, perhaps he said this as something honest? A true belief? Not as something just for people to hear?
I think that he would have already written his book by the time he said this.

 

Oh, I admit I was wrong. A quick google of this quote reveals not any obvious pressure, but that PEOPLE ARE TAKING IT OUT OF CONTEXT.
