    Well ++++.... As Ovyda explained, i had a big feeling Kite would die since watching the OP last week. The king (the guy who is probably the king) resembles Kite and i noticed that back then and thought he might die. He lost an arm, got into a fight and i was more sure about it. Then Gon said Kite won't die and i thought maybe i'm wrong, but then this. Fuck this. Kite was about to enter my top 10 list of favorite characters of all time and then he dies :( He was certainly my favorite character in HxH. I do hope they handle this situation right and the emotional part finally gets added in HxH.

    I'll copy my conversation with Ovyda on skype hours before i watched the episode:

    Yeah, from what I heard discussing the other week with Bato I've guessed a few things already for this arc. Let's see if all my other predictions will come true.

    Well, in my experience it either goes comepletely in line with what I expect, or on a complete tangent out of seemingly nowhere, but so far this show has surprised me one or two times. Which is partly what I like about it.

    Okay I"ve decided to start this anime and I"m going to start with the original but I just want to know. How different is the original to the 2011 version? I hear 2011 follows the manga more faithfully but how far was the 1999 version from the original in the first place?

    Its been a while since ive read the manga and watched the old anime, but i don't remember it really being different than the manga in terms of the story. you could practically pick up the new anime where the old one left off and not miss anything really.

    Old show:
    Slower paced (at least it seems that way for some reason)
    older animations

    New show:
    shortened beginning
    continues after the old show ends
    newer looking animations
    conveys the comedic moments more visually like the manga (personal opinion)

    I would advice you to watch the 2011 version first. If you're still interested and have time for it, you could watch the 1999 version after that. Well you can do what you want ofcourse, but i suggest watching the 2011 version. Some characters look different with different color.s For example, Hisoka:

    2011:


    1999:


    The other things the 2011 version has over the 1999 version is that:
    It (apperently) follows the manga more acurate.
    It has newer animation.
    It continues where the 1999 version left off.
    Might have different voice actors (not sure about this one)
