Higurashi - Anime Discussion

Yeah lets discuss Higurashi again!

 

kinda wish they would say more about when this new stuff is coming out, been in the dark about it for quite a bit now

 

I'm not going to lie. i never seen/heard of Higurashi. But it was under Psychological... so here I'm.

So what is this anime? is it any good? how long? anything like Death Note?

 

(mal copy paste) "After moving into the quiet town of Hinamizawa, Maebara Keiichi spends his days blissfully in school often playing games with his local friends. However, appearances can be deceiving. One fateful day, Keiichi stumbles upon news of a murder that had occurred in Hinamizawa. From this point on, horrific events unfold in front of Keiichi, as he soon learns his close friends may not be all that they seem."

(answers In order)Without going into any spoilers for any individual arcs just take it as the town is not what it seems and it gets a bit creepy when some things are found out. I liked it, i know some others have some problems with the dub in particular but i thought it was fine. 1st season 26 eps, second season (not dubbed) 24 eps, ova like seasons with i believe 5 eps and a few shorts. Not really like death note except for the fact that people arent always who they seem and some two faced like characters. thats my meager answers to the questions if you would like better ones maddy is the resident higurashi expert and i am sure she will correct me on something i have said

This anime is called Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.

It's freaking amazing.

How long?
If you want the correct order, here it is.
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (26 episodes)
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai (24 episodes)
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Special: Nekogoroshi-hen (1 episode)
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei (5 episodes)
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kira (4 episodes)
Plus the new project Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kaku ~Outbreak~ but we don't know what it's going to be yet.
So there are 60 episodes all up.
If you're in the mood for the same stuff, then try out it's other story Umineko no Naku Koro ni (26 episodes)

Anything like Death Note?
Horror, Crime & Detective, original ideas, but still different from each other

 

Well I don't really care for Horror over all, but as a whole this sounds like to could be worth my time.
I'll see if I can't fit in a Episode or two... or just marathon the whole thing in one night. What ever works

I loved this anime. I wonder if they will make the artwork similar to the manga? It will definitely be worth watching the re-make!

If they made it like the manga's artwork it would be a different art style every arc.
Little said that the rest of the anime won't be getting dubbed. I didn't really think the dub was that bad. Anyone here read the VN?

So, what did everyone think of Episode 17 of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni? Pretty gruesome, huh?

 

yeah that was really gruesome, it kinda made my hands hurt... but honestly, i would totally do that for someone i loved to be forgiven. the worst part is the healing process, because she wouldnt have any nails for probably weeks, and whenever she touched something it would hurt lol.

 

I was surprised I could even sit through it. I had to pause the episode every now and then. It is one of the most gruesome scenes I have ever seen in an anime.

Ha ha! I think I would run away and wait for the events of the summer to reset itself.

 

Really liked it, Could have done without some of the derpy faces at time but other than that really good series

I'm still waiting for the new anime.

For a thread that is supposed to be discussing this anime, there sure isn't very much discussion going on.

 

I assume the new one will only be subbed?  :/

 

DVDs for Kaku are now being pre-ordered.
The OVA will be 52 minutes long, which is pretty good for an OVA.
The ending theme is another version of You, it's called You -Visionen im Spiegel- which sounds bloody amazing, it'll give me an excuse to listen to the ending of it.
