General discussion

and I try to but sometimes not even that really works or it only works for a couple posts responding to mine and them that's it. Also sometimes I get busy with classes for a bit and when I get around to checking back up on it no ones touched it for weeks. Although I will admit I can be forgetful sometimes and simply forget to check in on the club for a few days. Maybe what I need is a sub leader to help keep things moving so

1. I'm not keeping an event going all by myself
2. When I'm not around because of classes or some other such nonsense someone can help keep things from completely falling apart.

I might even be able to make that person a group admin if a group is allowed to have more than the founder and a staff member as group admins.

 

Well I am lately into manga... I could help you out or at least try it. Not sure how many manga readers we have here.

Okay if I can get a little help then maybe we can make things run a little more smoothly. Do you want to try restarting the previous discussions, start where conversation left off, reset the event entirely, or maybe try to make up a different event that people might enjoy more?

 

I’d be willing to help out too if you need extra group mods.


Wow thanks. part of the problem with trying to keep things going myself is it often ended up me being every other post. So this will help keep things interesting.


So like I said before does anyone think it would be a good idea to start where the last events left off, start them over, or just scrap them and start new events? For now I think I'll send a group email regarding the previous two discussion events and seeing if there is enough of a response to warant a restart. If not we can either try anyway and see if the extra help will get it moving or we can plan something new. or at least that is the plan for now.

 

I haven't been reading manga lately :/ need more hours in the day. It seems my list just grows on 'plan to read' or 'reading' but my 'completed' list stays the same >.

 

just joined the group, and i say you scrap any previous events and start new. since it seems that they die down after a week or so, why not try to keep events short and within a certain date? something along the lines of "choose a manga, have everyone read one chapter of that manga, discuss read chapter" and leave it at that. even though it might not be a sparking discussion, its a start from a dead group to an active one.

One chapter seems a little TOO brief but the basic idea sounds interesting what about assigning the first 3 to 5 chapters as required reading then leaving the thread open for free discussion afterwards.or maybe assign one chapter a week from maybe 3 different manga for a month and then doing the same thing?..... Eh the idea is a work in progress but something along these lines might be interesting.

also regarding the long list thing I do as well. There are tons of manga I haven't read in months because they only release chapters on a month basis at best and I'm just letting them get a few chapters out before trying to continue. Others I read whenever a new chapter comes out. The thing is though even if I try to read an already completed manga I sometimes get carried away and read through it way too fast.

Moreover, it would be nice to keep reading manga that have from 10 to 40 chapters and no more. Otherwise it might become to tiresome to some people. Agree/Disagree?

 

Glad to see the group isn't dead. I vote we keep going with Superior. It's not a long manga by any means, and we never really made it far into the story so any new folk can catch up in no time.

 

I think we should start over, though maybe do it as a one shot meaning only allow nominating of one shot manga's allowing for it to get done fast so the discussion could be done all at once not waiting for anyone who has not yet done a new chapter of a longer one to catch up. I just think it would be an easy and fast way to try and jump start the group back up.

If we start from scratch we'd need a nomination and voting round. that would take up two weeks so if we plan to make discussions a month long we'd have maybe a week left. So should we just prepare now and start discussion for September? Also I feel we should make the nomination and voting rounds shorter. 2 weeks is fine for the new release club but they have an entire season. So since we are going to have to go shorter how should we set that up?

That is kinda pointless. If it's just a one shot then feel free to post the discussion for it yourself. People who see the thread can check it out and say what they think of it. A one shot is too short to warrent the time and effort of setting up a formal vote and discussion.

The point is that we should concentrate on the active members instead of everyone in general. If we wait for the slowpokes, then we will be stuck again... Members should come with the intent to participate and I am sure that 3 days to decide what to vote is sufficient. Actually 15 minutes are enough already, but not everyone can come online every day, thus 3 days should work out well for those who are interested to take part.
