FUNimation Entertainment confirmed with ANN that its home video release of Tsugumomo uses "a combination of uncensored and TV broadcast materials based on what was available from the licensor." Funimation's stream of the series, while labelled "uncut," also uses some broadcast episodes.

Television anime use various methods to censor images that cannot appear on television, but typically remove these for the home video releases. The Japanese Blu-ray Disc release reportedly has uncut versions for all the episodes — fans have posted screenshots online but ANN has not independently confirmed the images.

For example, Funimation's uncut version of first episode removes a soap bottle that was covering Kiriha's nipple. However, the eighth episode on Funimation's release still obscures Kokuyou's nipples in a bath scene. Both Kiriha and Kokuyou appear as adults, though Kiriha also has a child form that appears in some scenes (including the bath scene in episode eight).

    Funimation's full comment is below:

Funimation's normal process is to utilize uncensored materials when available to produce a home video release. If uncensored materials are not available, we utilize the TV broadcast version. This was the case with the “Tsugumomo The Complete Series” BD/DVD Combo which utilizes a combination of uncensored and TV broadcast materials based on what was available from the licensor during home video production.

The Tsugumomo Blu-ray Disc and DVD combo pack shipped on May 22.
