FUNimation Entertainment announced in a blog post on Friday that its streaming and home video license for the Birdy the Mighty: Decode television anime series will expire on October 14. After that time, Funimation will remove the anime from streaming, and will not reprint the DVDs after they have sold out.

    Funimation describes the series:
Birdy is a jaw-dropping, pin-up sensation with a secret. Under cover of darkness, this dream girl becomes a bad guy's worst nightmare. Birdy dons her crime-fighting costume and hits the street as a lethal, interstellar federation agent charged with nailing the most dangerous criminals in the galaxy. Her latest case involves a gang of extraterrestrial terrorists and a stolen space weapon that could nuke every living thing on Earth. Birdy's got the moves to stop them dead in their tracks, but there's one big problem: she's got a nasty habit of going berserk, and somebody always gets hurt. Yeah, Birdy may be dreamy, but she's also the only thing more dangerous than the bad guys.

The first 13-episode season aired in 2008, and the second 12-episode season, titled Birdy the Mighty Decode:02, aired in 2009. The anime series is the second anime adaptation of the Birdy the Mighty manga from Masami Yuuki, the manga artist of Mobile Police Patlabor. Funimation released separate sets of both seasons on DVD in 2010, before releasing a set featuring both seasons on DVD in 2011.

Funimation then released both seasons again in a set as part of its S.A.V.E. collection in 2013. The second season set and the 2011 and 2013 sets also included the 2009 Birdy the Mighty Decode: The Cipher video anime episode.
