Funimation Dubs One Piece: Heart of Gold Anime Special

    The NBC Dallas-Fort Worth station aired a segment on Texas-based FUNimation Entertainment on Wednesday that reveals that Funimation is dubbing the One Piece: Heart of Gold anime special (the clip showing the dub of the special starts at 2:05 in the linked video).

    Funimation has not yet officially announced a release format or date for the dub.

    Funimation and Crunchyroll both streamed the special with English subtitles in July after it aired.

    The two-hour special aired in Japan on July 16. The special ties in to One Piece Film Gold, which opened in Japan on July 23 and will screen in 33 countries worldwide.

    The One Piece: Heart of Gold special's story centers around a mysterious treasure called "Pure Gold" that even Gild Tesoro desires. The Straw Hat Pirates meet a girl named Olga who knows the treasure's location, and together they sail to the legendary island Alchemi. Original manga creator Eiichiro Oda drew the designs for the new characters as well as new costume designs for the Straw Hat Pirates for the special.​
