The last time Sandra Bullock collaborated with George Clooney, they were up in space for Gravity. For Our Brand Is Crisis, Clooney’s staying behind the camera as a producer, and Bullock starring as a political strategist brought in to help a flailing South American campaign. Check out the first trailer below.

Bullock stars as “Calamity” Jane Bodine, a smart, savvy strategist who is nevertheless reeling from a scandal that gave her the nickname and shook her confidence. She’s offered the chance at a comeback by working on the campaign for Bolivian presidential candidate Pedro Gallo (Joaquim de Almeida), who is flagging in the polls, seen as out of touch and elitist.

But when Jane arrives in the country, she discovers that her professional nemesis, Pat Candy (Billy Bob Thornton) is coaching the opposition. That, though, just gives her the fire to keep going and try to beat him at last. Which will not be an easy proposition...

Loosely inspired by Rachel Boynton’s 2005 documentary of the same name, the satirical drama features a script by Peter Straughan, David Gordon Green directing and Anthony Mackie, Zoe Kazan, Scoot McNairy and Ann Dowd also in the cast, the film will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this week ahead of an October 30 US release. There’s no assigned UK date yet, but expect it in 2016.
