First Trailer For Neil Marshall's Hellboy Arrives
We were told this was due tomorrow, but Christmas, or at least Hellboy, has arrived early. Check out the first full trailer for Neil Marshall's new incarnation of Mike Mignola's comics below, with David Harbour stepping into the crimson hooves of the title role.

The new Hellboy sees Big Red called to the English countryside to battle a trio of rampaging giants. There he discovers The Blood Queen, Nimue (Milla Jovovich), a resurrected ancient sorceress thirsting to avenge a past betrayal. Suddenly caught in a clash between the supernatural and the human, Hellboy is now hell-bent on stopping Nimue without triggering the end of the world.

Marshall has talked up the darker, "more violent and more bloody" horror aspects in interviews to date, but the tone of the trailer leans heavily towards comedic-action-adventure territory. It'll be intriguing to see which aspect the full movie hews closest to when it hits cinemas in the spring. Comic-book superhero with a dark edge, or black-metal badass with an occasional lighter moment? This one could go either way...

Ian McShane, Daniel Dae Kim, Sophie Okonedo, Brian Gleeson and Thomas Haden Church co-star, and 2 Guns' Andrew Cosby wrote the script. Hellboy is out on 11 April, 2019.
