Final Fantasy XV's September 30 Release Confirmed; Trailers, Demo Revealed

Square Enix confirmed during its "Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV" presentation on Wednesday the September 30 release date of its Final Fantasy XV PlayStation 4 and Xbox One game. The game's official Japanese Twitter account confirmed that the game will be released worldwide on that date. Video game news source GameSpot had previously uploaded a video revealing the September 30 release date, before setting the video to private.

Square Enix also revealed two trailers for the game, as well as a gameplay video previewing the game's environment. Both trailers for the game preview its newly revealed theme song, a cover of "Stand By Me" performed by Florence and the Machine.

The game will get a "Platinum Demo" for the PS4 and Xbox One that is already available for free. In the demo, players control Noctis as a child. Using special panels in the game, players can change the weather and time of day in the demo, demonstrating the game's graphical capabilities. Players will also be able to play as monsters, and finishing the demo allows players to summon Carbuncle in the main game, and rename the summon. The Platinum Demo features content that will not be in the final game itself.

A new smartphone game titled Justice Monsters Five will launch on iOS, Android, and Windows 10 in September. It is a pinball game that features iconic monsters from the series' history, and will be a mini-game also present in the main Final Fantasy XV game. Pre-registration for the game is already available.

Square Enix is also producing a five-episode anime titled Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV, and a feature-length 3D CG film titled Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV. The first episode of Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV is already available, while Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV will be available for streaming and download before the game's September 30 launch. A-1 Pictures is animating Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV. Square Enix's Visual Works company (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children) is working on Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, and it will star Aaron Paul, Lena Headey, and Sean Bean.

Finally, Square Enix revealed a Deluxe Edition and Collector's Edition release for Final Fantasy XV. The Deluxe Edition will come with a steelbook case, a copy of the Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV film, and three DLC items, including: a Royal Raiment outfit, a Masamune weapon, and a Platinum Leviathan recoloring of the Regalia vehicle. It is available for pre-order for US$89.99.

The Collector's Edition will include all the items in the Deluxe Edition, but also adds a 192-page art book, an Play Arts Kai figure of Noctis, a soundtrack that includes music from the game as well as Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV and Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, a copy of the Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV anime, and four additional items, including: a Travel Pack, Camera Kit, Angler Set, and Gourmand Set. It is available for pre-order for US$269.99, and is limited to 30,000 sets.

A Day One edition retails for US$59.99 and will feature the Masamune weapon DLC. All pre-orders for the game will include five postcards.
