Final Fantasy 7 Remake

I was actually surprised to see that there is going to be a remake of FF7.
This is the trailer showed at Sony's E3 2015 conference.

 

What is this? I'm about to go to sleep then thought
"Oh hey someone commented on my FF7 play trough thread"

Then I read the title and thought
"Oh look someone got trolled again"

Then I see the video and think
"Wha~~~~~~"

And now I"m here posting random thoughts because I don't know what to do anymore

Looks like a timed exclusive for PS4. This may not come out for a year or two. Looking forward to it none the less.

 

So I had more time to think on this and my own hype settled down.

I think they're doing this to boost PS4 sales and we won't likely see a remake anytime soon. Let's not forget how long it took to release FF13 and that somehow turned into 15 over the course of a long time.

So I'm calm now.

While I don't like (J)RPGs and have never actually played FF7, I do understand how highly a lot of people rate the original and how much hype there is around this remake. I also worry about the remake an awful lot. I mean, in recent years, Square Enix hasn't had the best track record with making their games all that great, and honestly, if they don't get this right, fans of the original are likely going to flip their ****.

Also, as a side note, they might as well as remake Crisis Core too...

After Square Enix's PS3 remake stunt, I'm going to go with my state's slogan "Show Me." Show me proof that they're really creating a remake, Square Enix. I want a playable demo, not a CGI trailer. I'm also waiting to see if rabid fans will travel to Square Enix's headquarters and riot if Square decides to create another hype train and then decide not to follow through.

 

I'm very warily excited. I will probably play it and have a massive nostalgia trip. But I think it's worth noting that the Square Enix making this remake is not the Square Enix that made FF VII. Looking at their recent track record, I'm not terribly confident in their ability to remake this beloved game without fucking it up somehow.
