Well of course the concept was good, it was Japanese :p. I kid, though not really (I mean that's one of the things that attracted me to anime in the first place, the ability to make great sci-fi premise and work it).

Well I was referring to stuff like gundams and other giant robots, the various space opera anime, the speculative stuff like psychopass.

Did you enjoy Pacific Rim? Not sure if it was the most awesome dumb movie or the dumbest awesome movie of 2013.

It seems that Legendary Pictures is reportedly reconsidering their stance on keeping the Pacific Rim and Godzilla franchise separate and that Pacific Rim 2 could be the set up for the Godzilla and Pacific Rim crossover.

I love Pacific Rim. I'd put it in the former, but on the dumb movie scale I'd say it's barely dumb.
If they did that and delivered the action of Pacific Rim and the last 15 mins of Godzilla, they might just break some records. Lord knows I'd take my friends to see it, my family, strangers off the street....

Yeah, Pacific Rim really was good. The only problem I had was with the Drift Compatibility / system.
I was kinda pissed that Godzilla was only in the film a total of 18 mins or something. Honest Trailers said everything about that film perfectly. Well, both movies for that matter.

I would have been alright with Godzilla holding back the creature to focus on the humans, but they get rid of the best character in the first act.
For Pacific Rim, I kinda look at it how Shogun sees Edge of Tomorrow; a cool concept. I would rather look at the Pacific Rim art book than watch the film again, but that's just me.

I still have yet to see all of Pacific Rim. I have seen bits of it on TV. It looks like they destroy more than they actually save! Plus, EXPLOSIONS AND CGI EVERYWHERE!!!

Man of Steel set the bar for destroying more than actually saving. I thought Pacific Rim was great but I worry whether a sequel would be as good without Idris Elba. Personally I would go straight to the PR/Godzilla crossover movie.

I'm super excited for Godzilla 2. Can't wait to see some actual notable monsters instead of the two unknown ones in the first movie. Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah are set to appear in the film. Just sucks we have to wait until 2018 before it comes out. And who knows, maybe Godzilla will be in more than 18 mins of the film lol.
