Extraordinary Regularity

Jessic grinned widely. "I know, I'm offended that we never got taught something like that but!" He handed over the flip phone, smirking at Riley. "It's really useful, we should get you one too, only bad thing is it isn't entirely free."

 

"Crikey," Rid whistled when he saw the girl and the bird approaching, "we've got a regular party going on here."
He strolled over to the girl. "Here, let me help you with that, luv." He beckoned, and Nom placed the paralyzed Hema over his shoulder, P.R doing the same with the seemingly catatonic State. "Now, lead the way into Wonderland, Alice my lovely."

 

Riley put their hand on their face. "I know what a cellphone is. I have one with me right now!" They reached into their pocket and pulled out one of the latest phones. "See? Jeez... I didn't suspect you two to be so.... "not with the times" I guess."

 

She grumbled. "Well, if they're cheap enough. I dinnae' get funded very much anymore. I suppose I'll have to do some huntin' of ma' own." She looked at both of the phones. "Hrmmph..." How did this even work? She knew it wasn't magic. Technology was way better than it used to be. A lot of the stuff it could do really was quite amazing. "Wait a minute, did ya' even exchange names yet?..." She looked between the two.

 

"Wow. That's swanky." Jessic said, smirking as he looked at Maisie. "I think your bodyguard is compensating for something." He added in a whisper. "I never said my name I don't think, but I'm not saying it. Make him guess. It's fun!"

 

Maisie was a little confused. "Okay... Uhm... Guess his name, Riley?" They had to get to know each other... "Pfft. Bodyguard. I told you, I dinnae' need one. We're just friends." Compensating... That was a very strange thing to say. Anyhow. She stretched. "So, what have you been up to?"

 

"Hmmm..." Riley stared at Jessic for a bit. "Your name is..... Jonathan." They nodded, very sure of themselves.

 

"And what has become of my family and I, are you suggesting we've all perished, Bravado, that is impossible, for I exist in the current day. Even if It is 2015 as you say, I find it certainly hard to believe such a ludicrous thing, it is absolutely impossible." Even though Bravado was being truthful, Eldrich refused to believe such a thing.

"Young master Gabriel, come on, let us leave. They dare speak nonsense to me they deserve no further answers." He paused and looked back at Bravado. "When you wish to speak honestly with me, I will answer your questions."

 

Jessic gave a laugh. "Ohehehe... I like this one. So close, you only got my first letter right!" He stated wiping away tears. "Two more tries, and then something horrible will happen!" He continued chuckling to himself.

 

Maisie roughly nudged Jessic. "Naw, it winny. You'll be fine." She nodded to Riley. She didn't want them fighting. She'd just got out of a stupid situation alright. She was enjoying her time relaxing. She was always relaxing, though... Ah well. Her life. She could do whatever the hell she wanted with it.

 

Logan turned his head as he heard Matthew calling out to him. When he heard that it was time to go, he smirked though he also looked a little disappointed. He turned back to Penton.
"How about that, it looks like our fun is over. We'll have to pick this up later."
He stretched out his hand to the side.
"Let's do lunch sometime. Don't call me, I'll call you."
Just then, an invisible, powerful blast of force launched him sideways towards Matt's direction. He turned in midair and got back to his feet, running towards Matt. He stopped right next to him.
"Grab Fluffy and get out of here. I'll meet you outside; I'll be taking the shortcut."

Logan placed his right hand on the ground and the floor behind him started to move, curving upwards until it made a makeshift barrier that blocked off the rest of the hallway.
"So, that should hold him for about...two seconds. At the most."
He looked around the room for the nearest window. The closest one that he could see was at the end of the hall, so he ran for it. When he made it, he leaped right towards the window, using his power to blast it out of the way. He smiled widely as he fell towards the earth, arms stretched wide like he was skydiving.
"It's been a while since I've done this! I should really try it more often!"
After quite a long fall, he did a front flip and landed gently on the ground...or at least, it was gentle for him. There was a large blast of pure force around where he landed which made a small crater where he was now standing and shattered the asphalt around him in about a 20-foot radius. He also set off quite a few car alarms, to his slight annoyance.


Gabriel nodded, smiling brightly.
"Okay! I'm not really sure what's going on, but if you wanna come home with me then let's go!"

Gabriel's father stepped in, clearly not satisfied with how things were turning out.
"Hold on a minute, Gabriel. If this man can tell us anything about your knight friend, we should listen to him.
He turned to Bravado.
"Hello, Mr. Bravado. My name is Jonathan Silverlight and I'm Gabriel's father. Even if he doesn't want to hear it, I'd like to know more about this Eldrich...what I mean is, is it really possible that he came back from the dead?"

Gabriel's mother also walked up to them, looking quite concerned.
"I'm Marie Silverlight, Gabriel's mother, and I'd like to know as well, Mr. Bravado. We know that there are things in this world that seem impossible, but are true. We know because...our little boy has some kind of special, amazing powers that we don't even fully understand. But is what you're saying really possible? Could this man have come back to life somehow?"
She looked hesitant to say what was on her mind.
"And...how do we know that he won't try to hurt Gabriel?"

Gabriel had a sad look on his face. In his mind, Eldrich was already his friend and they were saying mean things about him. He just wanted Eldrich and his parents to get along more than anything else.
"Mom...it's like I told you, he's got a really good aura. We can believe him. I believe him..."
He trusted his powers, and with good reason. But his parents will still unsure as they simply couldn't take the word of their child over every single fiber of their common sense.

 

OOT: Mama Luigi, why is it I end up with so many characters? It's really a terrible habit.

Matthew twisted, grabbed Kitty, and pulled her by the hand down the hallway. Behind them, sparking and giggling in a slightly deranged manner, the possessed robot lurched after them, dancing a little with glee. "Kids! Playtime! Capture the princess!"
The robot took Kitty rather gently in its arms, and then leaped straight through a window. This left Matthew, trapped, on the floor with no obvious way out.
"Ah... crap, forgot the part where I live too," he chuckled. There was a terrible crashing sound behind him, and he braced for the worst when suddenly a voice sounded in his head.
"I would have expected better from you..."
"Who's there?" Matthew whirled, momentarily caught off guard, and a woman was standing by the window. She smiled gently at him, clad in red fur. Her heels were knife points, and her eyes were a beautiful white speckled pair of irises, looking him up and down with clear amusement.
"I am here," she teased. "Now come on, it is not you to be so absent-minded." She stepped sideways and revealed a portal behind her, a glowing hole in time-space. "There is still much to do... master," and with that, she was gone. "WAIT!" Matthew shouted, and as the crashing noise sounded again he hurled himself through the portal after her -
Things went a strange shade of nothing, and images that he could never imagine yet knew instinctively as something he recognized blazed through his mind like firecrackers in a volcano. By the time his mind cleared itself, though not without some headache, he was kneeling in the middle of the pavement on the street outside, passerby looking at him curiously, though most were staring at the huge hole in the side of Penton Tower.

The robot placed Kitty down in an alleyway a few blocks away from Penton Tower, and then keeled over, lifeless. The faint whispers could be heard in her ears again.
"Is she OK?"
"Don't be scared, we're here..."
"Where's Daddy? Let's go find Daddy!"

She watched him stagger to his feet, and after a confused look around run off to find Logan. She sighed.
"It's almost pitiable, seeing him like this..."
"I know not what you mean," the knight muttered behind her, a faint clanking audible as he adjusted his chestplate. "This time doth be very odd. Tis a perplexing age, to be sure."

She turned, sighing again. "Grave Knight, for you to speak of oddities truly is ironic considering your nature." The knight bristled. "Hold your tongue, witch! That title doth not reflect my noble heart and valiant nature. I am a knight of the realm!"
"You are more than that, more than you know. But I cannot reveal too much to you yet." The warrior looked at her quizzically. "Then... to where do we venture?"
She turned, walking towards the park. "I believe a friend of yours has recently rejoined the living. I feel like we should recruit him to our cause, it will ease pains in the times to come."
Although he didn't really have a choice, the knight hesitated in following his new unwanted mistress, and he sensed she knew more than she was letting on. "What cause do we have?"
Her reply was blunt. "Saving the universe."

Theraploferous very gently floated down and into Eldrich's path. Although Eldrich was a veritable hulk of a man, Theraploferous towered over him. "I would advise against leaving ill-informed of your situation, my friend," he said kindly, though his hand strayed to his sword hilt.
Bravado spoke again. "You were killed in the year you remember it being, and you have been returned to life through most likely some supernatural meddling in the present day. I understand this might be a terrible shock to you, and I'm sorry. This must be a lot to take in. Rest assured, we will not rest until we find a way to return you to your own time and to your family."
He turned to Gabriel's parents.
"Returning from the grave is very possible, particularly with olden magic. Most modern magic doesn't mess with death, we know better. But if he hails from centuries ago, then it stands to reason magic could have brought him back. Either that, or biologically he's primed to return after being killed, perhaps an extraordinarily delayed healing factor. Either way, yes is the answer to your question."
He looked back at Eldrich. "I understand that ultimately you're a good person, otherwise you wouldn't be so eager to serve as a vassal to this boy. But I also understand that maybe you would not wish to cause him grief. So if you're patient, I'm certain we can work something out."

 

Kitty bowed. "Thank you so much!" She looked around with concern. "Let's quickly go find the others!"

 

Eldrich, wasn't even remotely afeared by the beast in front of him, he grabbed onto his hilt and unsheathed his sword. Bravado started to speak, and he heart what he said about Gabriel, and causing him grief, he was mid swing by that time, he looked over and saw the boys demeanor was changing to sadness. Before the sword swung into Theraploferous he switched its path and it landed to the side of the beast. It cracked the pavement about 2 feet deep. And the sword followed being stuck inside of it.

"I've no malicious intent. Towards any of you or the boy and the silverlights. Please forgive my impulsive behavior." Eldrich bowed, and repositioned himself. "Say I did die, how would I have died? And if it really is 2015. Then that means, my family died over 300 years ago..." turning around he left his massive sword in the ground considering no one would be capable of lifting it. And walked towards Bravado. "I will not join your allegiance, as I refuse to serve under any Banner, Emblem, or insignia. But I will Ally myself with you if you are to need me. I am afraid..."

Eldrich paused for a few moments, he needed to gather his words. "I am afraid, I cannot speak any further as I've just learned of my families demise. Allow me my grievance, Bravado, Jonathan, Marie... I'm uncertain if you've been through it, but I've lost my betrothed, and child. I do not wish to speak right now. I just wish to guard your child, for the moment. I need to collect myself before I speak again."

Roy got up from his safe spot and began to make his way back down to the steets. He knew where Matthew went, and he knew Logan was with him, though he owed them money he was eager to see them again, hopefully they were too. Once he made his way to the street Vincent was already back inside of him. He walked over to where Matthew was kneeling and reached his arm out.

"Need a hand, friend?" He smiled warmly towards Matthew. It was welcoming and he knew it wouldn't buy him anything but he saw the opportunity to see an old friend. "We need to have a conversation. I am sure you saw Michael inside of there. Which probably made me a dead giveaway, but we need to go somewhere a little less public. It's actually pretty important. And you'll need to give me every detail, such as that intercom announcement, it was loud but I wasn't sure how clearly everyone heard it... anyway, See ya. Meet me at the park shortly, I've gotten some pretty good Intel that there is a knight there. I don't know what's going on recently, but this town has gotten some crazy energy again."

Roy began to walk away and towards the park where Eldrich was. He only heard of a 6'5 knight with a sword as big as its weilder once, and that was in old books of lore from England. He wanted to see if it was the same man who could turn dragon scales and bones into weapons, and could destroy dragons as if they were common house flies, but less evasive.

 

Hema returned to consciousness after some time. She had been propped up against a tree while the others took a short break. Letting out a groan she struggled to her feet through the drumming in her head. Taking the first step filled her with anxiety as her body swayed like she was drunk. Her gait evened out somewhat as she walked, but the swaying didn't disappear. The next hour or so would be a real pain, as all of her senses were lowered by the crash.
"How long..." She said through a mouthful of cotton. Her sounding like she was talking underwater to her ears. "How long was I down?"

 

Neptunus simply sat and watched as everyone dispersed out, simply sighing, "Well, the fun was short-lived although by the seems of it it'll be fun to continue watching this." His skin bubbled as it scattered into a flock of pigeons and left through the shattered window Logan had left and watched him from above, knowing he'd lead him to the entire group.



Irene had initially fled at the sound of more people, she had simply thought of helping this lady out and fleeing before she awoke but it seemed now that it would not be as planned. She had slowly crept back towards the group, Fluff made sure to stay close behind Irene, close enough to protect her with its aura of corrosive poison if they were to attack her but far enough to not directly harm anyone. Upon seeing that they weren't there to harm her, she pointed towards the forest and led them to a clear circle surrounded by thick redwood trees which would obstruct vision in and out, Fluff moving to the middle of the area which caused the circle of grass around it to peel away.

Once the girl woke up, Irene moved towards her, getting all up in her face and blocking her view of anything else with her own head, "GOOOOOOOOD MORNING!" She then turned around and skipped away, humming idly to herself.

 

Without breaking his stride, Seth veered from his initial course and headed to where the crashing had come from. He stopped in the doorway of one of the many kitchens, his gaze locking on the young woman currently frozen in the middle of the carnage she appeared to have created.
"Steward?" he asked the man that had stopped beside him, "Who is this girl, and why is she destroying my property?"
Steward remained stoic. "A new girl we took on only yesterday, name of Melena. Regrettably, she appears to lack any coordination or sense of direction."
Seth stared at Melena for a few moments before speaking again. "Send for someone to clear up this mess. And you, girl, will come with me."
He didn't give either time to react before returning to his original path.

 

Seth didn't respond to her, instead walking her in silence to his quarters.
He room itself was rather large, the sparseness of the furnishing making it almost cavernous. One side of the room was home to a king sized bed that was so well kept that it looked like it rarely saw use. In contrast, the desk that rested on the other side was covered in old books and manuscripts, and had pages of notes stuck to the wall.
Seth took his seat, and turned it to face Melena. "So, what made you want to take a job here?" he probed, his gaze boring a hole into her.
"Surely the job market isn't so bad as to force you to take up work this far away from civilisation?"
