He woke up to Jet punching the wall.
"Dude, I was sleeping."
He looked around as he stretched.
"Wheres Pete?"
"Gone, hes freaking gone. Want to know what else is gone? Every scrap of food we had and all our cash."
"This is your fault Locks, you tortured him and forced him into our group."
"Maybe I didn't torture him enough."
"What does that mean?"
"Well did he kill us when he had the chance?"
"A he chickened out. B he wasn't that mad at us. Or C he has a reason to keep us alive. C is my personal favorite."
"So what do we do?"
"We find him."
"What if your right and its a trap."
"Why do you think were going?"

 

The man gently laid his deformed hand on Zac's shoulder. Instantly, all the strength drained out of the limb, the iron coating the hand sliding off as his arm slumped uselessly, temporarily numbed and feeling like it had come down with the worst case of pins and needles imaginable, to Zac's side.
"How rude..."

He leapt, teeth bared, only to land one hit before yelping in shocked pain and rolling off to the side, whimpering a little as the horrible feeling tore through his hands.

The man looked impressed.
"That felt good. Do that again, freakshow. As for you, Iron Man..."
He lifted the iron Zac had molded, and the iron flowed to form a gauntlet around his fist exactly as Zac had done.
"As the book says, do unto others as they do -"
WHACK!
"-Unto you!"
The punch took Zac off his feet and sent him tumbling back.
The man turned to Leah and smiled that sickly smile.
"Shake? Or how about a hug instead..?" He started moving towards her...

 

Zach’s arm went numb from all the pain, he clutched at it, and glared right at the man.

“I see, so you have an ability to use our abilities against us. If the lab sent you, then know this. I will kill you and all who are coming against us.” Zach charged against the man, and managed to stagger him, but was knocked back down in the process. Damn, at this rate I can’t do shit against him. Zach then felt around in his back pocket, and remembered that he had retrieved the gun from the house and loaded it with a couple of rounds. He then looked at the wolfman, and noticed that the other guy was still staring at Leah and moving towards her.

“Let’s see how you like the tables turned against you.” Zach said as he fired off the rounds in the gun. He hoped that these would work against the guy. Zach then looked at the wolfman, and saw Leah was still scared. “Take Leah and get out of here. I’ll deal with this guy, and I’ll meet you back at the warehouse. Leah, tell Atlas and the others we have some hunters after us, and to be on alert. I’ll get back if I can”

 

Bullets were bad.
He took to his heels, heading back towards the warehouse as it was the only place on earth he could currently still remember... other than that bullets were bad.

He rolled backwards, bullets pinging off the alley walls.
One caught him in the shoulder and he rolled, cursing as blood trickled - only to stare in amazement, then amusement as the wound healed.
"So, one of you has healing powers..."
Then he looked down to find a few more in his leg and waist, and hissed in pain. The injuries started to repair, but seemed to slow down then stop, the stolen healing running out of power.
He glared daggers at Zac, one hand on his leg, scrabbling at the bullets within.
"Why don't you throw away your toy? It's not going to kill me, but at the rate you're annoying me at, I might kill you..."

 

I'll like to get in the action. First off some basic info and maybe later a proper intro.

Name: Leonard Batista

Age:28
Experimental change: Not yet determined
Backstory: Son of the president of PlasmiumTech Corporation and likely heir. Was making great progress in a special project for the corporation when he was betrayed by his secretary and R&D team when they brought multiple criminal charges before his father. Standing in a room full of private security personal, his last memories were the cold words of his father "Do what you want with him, he's no son of mine"
Special abilities: Not yet determined
Strength/ weaknesses: PROS- Incredibly smart, was the former head of the R&D team of PlasmiumTech. Rich upbringing has groomed him to the daily affairs of the rich and powerful.
CONS- Inconsiderate to those who are in need. His elite and wealthy background has earned him the ire of peers. His arrogant and over inflated view of himself has worsened over the years and only served to make enemies. Has a very poor choice of friends and is generally an unhappy person.

 

(OOC- You guys are obviously ahead of me so I'm just going to stay put in my starting point until I get a feel for where everyone's at. It's not like poor Leo has a choice at the moment. Inner voice is in gray.)

Ringing

The constant ringing in Leonard's head would not go away. It's been like this for what seems like hours now. It was total darkness and he has lost all feelings to his limbs. The sense of floating can be vaguely felt and that constant ringing... yes that ringing was what haunted Leonard now.

If this is hell then color me unimpressed

The ringing stopped

"Brain activity detected doctor, the subject is regaining consciousness." The voice of the man can be heard quite clearly.

Well at least my hearing is okay

"Very good, I'll notify our guest that his friend is ready to see him now. Prepare our subject for the main testing while I'm out. I want no more screw ups like with the other subjects"

The faint sound of a locking mechanism can be heard on a door ahead. That second man presumably just left the room.

Where am I? In a hospital? What friend is he talking about?

Leonard tried to open his eyes but closed them immediately when he felt a huge stab of pain in his brain

"ARGH!" That light! Like waking up from a severe hangover.

"Easy there, you suffered from quite a head injury. You'll be fine though, I suggest opening them a little slower this time."

Leonard was still recoiling from the pain he did not realize the door opening and closing again. This time he opened his eyes a little more slowly and instantly regretted doing so. Lying across this low light lab room stood Steven Blight, lead development leader of the R&D department of PlasmiumTech and one of the men who accused him of crimes he didn't commit.

"YOU!" Leonard bellowed.

"Ah good to see you still intact Leo. I was worried your father's goons were a little too rough with you. I had no idea he hated you so. You and I should have spoken of this all those days at the bar. I must apologize, If I have known he would have treated you so I would have had the guards simply tranquilize you"
The sarcasm from Steven's voice was unusual coming from the serious man

"What's going on here Steven? What is the meaning of this? What is this place? This is no hospital, I can certainly tell that much and..."
It was now when Leonard noticed the contraption that was holding him a few feet off the ground.

"What the hell is this?" Leonard exclaims

"I can answer your some of your questions"
The voice came from a bespectacled man behind a computer terminal. It was the same voice from the man who was ordered to arrange testing.
"Subject 0574, birth name, Leonard Batista, status...missing person. Police reports state that his last known whereabouts were at Elisa's bar. Several witnesses including bar owner herself claimed subject was intoxicated and in a fit of rage when he stormed out the rear exit. Hooded men were reported in the area. Possessions seized at mansion home range from several pounds of cocaine to stashes of various hard drugs. Hand written notes, verified by police to be from notorious local drug lord kingpin Armand "Brutalia" Dominguez point to victim owing extreme amounts of money. As subject was also accused of siphoning from PlasmiumTech, police believe victim attempted to pay off debt with stolen money. Armand was killed in a gunfight by local police forces so victims fate remains unknown. Likely was kidnapped. Presumed dead."

"What!?" Injects Leonard "I'm no crackhead junkie! What is this nonsense about siphoning money? This is a setup!"

The man continues...
"Subject 0574 is to be placed on the CryField Engine bed until further notice. Testing approved for the inclusion of the CryField Engine bed as it's been determined that it would not interfere with testing operations. The added restraint will protect subject from accidental bone tearing and possible limb dismemberment."

He looked down at the girl who had just run into him. All he could see was the fear in her eyes. Then it clicked. With her new outfit it took him a little while to realize but it was that girl Leah.
"Hey Locks did you find something?"
"More like someone?"
"What."
"Its Leah."
"Locks shes in trouble. Someone attacked her and Zach defended shes running back the others."
"Shit."
"What?"
"Shes lost."
He looked down at Leah. He owed her, I mean he almost forced her back to the labs.
"You want help?"

 

"Oh shit that's right you didn't meet us. Don't freak out but were a pair of hunters that came after you a few days ago."
Leahs face showed a mix of shock and fear.
"Locks shes freaking out a bit."
"Oh don't worry we left the labs, Atlas made it pretty clear that he would kill us if we tried to go back. Plus we have our own reasons for leaving. Look we almost dragged you back to the labs and we feel terrible for that do you want some help getting back to your base?"
"Locks theirs two minds that are fighting each other, it must be Zach and that... GAHHHH!. HES IN MY HEAD GET HIM OUT!"
Jess fell to the ground unconscious. The noise she caused alerted Jet. There was a huge gust of wind and it kicked up a bunch of dust, when it settled Jet was standing there.
"Hey how did ya like my entrance pretty cool right. Whats wrong with Jess and who's the chick?
"Just a girl we found that needs help."
He still hadn't told Jet about their past with the labs he couldn't risk him freaking out at a time like this.
"Jet you grab Jess, I got Leah. Lets move. Its too dangerous to stay here."
He looked at Leah.
"Ill bring you to the ports where I fought Blaze its the closest place to your base I know. And on the way your going to tell me exactly what the hell Zach is fighting back there because it just took out Jess with what seemed to be her power."
He grabbed Leah and began to run toward the ports with Jet close behind.

 

After dropping of Locks and Jess in an alley way in another part of the slums, the day was only half over.
"Well that was an eventful morning don't you think?"
"Yes, but we still need to head out on the boat. Not going out when the weather is fine will look suspicious"
"Aye Echo's right. Well, i guess than means the house is left to you two until we or the others get back"
After Echo and Atlas head out i notice they are right, Leah and the others are still out so Myself and Frost are the only two here. Frost goes and sits in the main room while i grab the project files and pour over them. There is something i want to find out, what exactly is this 'second' power of mine. It happened when fighting that wolfman, and only then. Was it a near death trigger or can i use it at will, and more importantly what did it do? Thinking back i remember that it was pulling a second version of the wolfman from his own body while his normal one remain still hmmmmm..... no i couldn't be.....
"Hey.... Frost, i have a question"
"What is it?"
"Do.. do you think we have souls?"
".....I'm not very religious, besides after all the 'science' done to us do you really think something like that exists"
".......so it was like i thought"
"?"

There then came a period of awkward silence as neither of us talked, after having enough of it and finishing my reading for today i ask Frost a few questions
"So, what's your favorite color?"
She just looks at me like i've lost my mind
"Okay... Erm what music do you like"
"....."
"Do you like anything?"
"...."
".... Fine, here's an easy one what don't you like"
"People who continually ask me stupid questions"
Seems i've annoyed her in my attempts to make small talk
"Look, I'm just trying to talk with you here. Aside from the short interactions we have had up till now we haven't really talked. Figured i would try some small talk to pass the time seeing as it's just you and me here"
"Classical...."
"Huh?"
"You asked what music i liked..... Classical"
It wasn't much but a start, Frost and i continued talking for a bit.

It had started to get dark and no one was back yet, while eating dinner i asked Frost if we should go out searching, she agreed and we headed out after we finished eating. Once we walked outside we saw the wolfman running as fast as he could to us, somethings wrong.... he's never ran away from anything, in fact they only time he had was onto the ship to leave the labs with Leah. Speaking of: Leah, Zach, or Logann weren't with him, somethings very wrong here....

 

(OOC- Continuing exactly where I left off...)

The bewildered look on Leonard's face must have set off something in Steven because Leonard has never seen his subordinate in such a state of glee.

"Don't you see Leonard? It was so easy! Everyone at the office knew how you would frequent Elisa's bar after work. Convincing her and the regulars to tell the police what happened to you was a cinch. And since Elisa was your secretary and lover, the cops were more then willing to believe the cover story. You were right friend, the pigs are fools and were more then willing to believe the women's side of the story. I'm just surprise your father was so willing to go along with the plan. I suppose he knows who the real masters of PlasmiumTech are."

Leonard's head was spinning.
Elisa betrayed me too? But why? I gave her anything a women would want, money, cars, diamond jewelery, rare furs of exotic animals, a goddamn parrot! What the hell!? What is she a damn peasant? Children would only destroy her beautiful features. Marriage is completely out of the question, she is nothing but a struggling bar owner and I the rising star of a business empire. She should be in awe that I would even employ her as my secretary in the first place. She wouldn't even have that stupid bar if it wasn't for me!

"And the drug note? How did you acquire it?" Leonard asked

"Didn't you know? Armand used to be an employee at PlasmiumTech. That writing test we all had to take on the first day of the job?"
Of course a large corporation like PlasmiumTech would keep a large record and tab on it's employees. To mimic a person's handwriting though, there's only one person I know who could do such a forgery...

"Elisa"

"That's right Leo. They always say love and hate are two sides of the same coin"

Leonard felt very cold. To lose so much... so fast...

"What do you want from me Steven?"

"Oh don't worry Leo, you have already given me the things I want. You are at the mercy of these fine gentlemen now. I finally have the chance to prove to your father that it is I and not you who is the most capable of leading the corporation into the new age. Before you even arrived with your fancy degree and family ties I was the one considered to be the successor of PlasmiumTech. And then you come along and take everything away from me! All because your stupid father thought is was so great to have his genius son take over the company. Your fancy clothes, your immense wealth, your handsome physic, and your big fat ego were all the things you taken from me!"

Leonard has heard enough and cuts in
"You!? Heir to the corporation!? Don't make me laugh, father would have sooner appointed the office janitor then a worm like you"

"Then why did you appoint me as development team leader?" Steven asks "Obviously you saw me as highly valuable, otherwise you wouldn't have appointed me to such a prestigious position."

"Fool! The only thing I wanted was your brain. Development team needed someone who could tell left from right and you fit the bill. Your delusional if you think I had more in plan for you. Your only strength was in calculations, you are a total failure in every other aspect. Truth be told I been hoping to replace you but father didn't want me holding two positions. Need I remind you of the HR department fiasco that you used to head?"

Steven's face darkened when reminded of the incident. His expression was very fitting in this ominously lit room.

The contraption digging into Leonard's skin suddenly felt very heavy
"What are you doing to me? If you really wanted to take my place then you know better then to keep me alive so why? Why am I still alive?"

Silence. Leonard thought he saw a brief flash of pity in Steven's eyes.

The man behind the computer terminal spoke up once again.
"Hm. That's enough now you two. Preparations for the testing is now complete. The doctor wants you ready for the main testing. Mr. Blight, you may want to return to the waiting room outside, the subject's screams are mostly confined to this room and they may be unpleasant."

"Oh no that won't be necessary, I want to see that arrogant asshole's face in agony and despair for a change."

"As you wish, beginning preliminary tests"

(Still going through the rather lengthy intro...)

 

"Yeah all three of us."
"Wait that guy absorbed Zachs ability? That's what it is. Jess read his mind and that guy stole her ability and used it on Jess, that's why she passed out."
"Locks where are we going?"
"The ports. I fill you in later but for now trust me."
"Got it."
"We need to move faster!"
Jets legs were surrounded in furious gusts of wind creating a small tornado that lifted him up and carried him through the air extremely fast. At the same time Locks threw Leah onto his back and grabbed two metal pipes. They formed extremely long chains that shot from object to object pulling Locks and Leah through the air at a tremendous speed. They were at the ports in a matter of minutes
"This is where I fought Blaze and Echo after Jess tripped into..... a boat."
He put Leah down and then started to kick every boat in sight creating a loud amount of alarms. He just prayed that they would hear it.

 

He looked back when Leah began to scream about the alarms. She was covered in lightning and he did the first thing that came to mind. all the boats materialized into chains causing the alarms to stop because there was no longer anything to play them. The metal chains from the bats shrunk forming a tight set of chain mail armor that covered Locks.
He ran toward Leah. He grabbed her and told her to calm down. The chain armor redirected the electric current keeping locks from being shocked at all.
"Leah calm down the alarms are off. It was the only way i could get Your friends attention. They're coming soon so just calm down, I already have 1 girl passed out I don't need another."
"Shit dude I knew your power was strong but damn."
"Jet tell me if you see anyone coming. Leah calm down please."

 

(OOC-Still going solo...)

Not even the sound proof walls could contain the inhuman screams coming from subject 0574.
Death. Give me death
Death would not come. If Leonard's mind was able to focus he would realize the trace amounts of drugs working to keep him conscious. Every fiber of his body felt like it was being ripped away from him. There was a severe throbbing on his right hand.

"Phase 1 complete. Drug is keeping subject conscious. Moving on to phase 2."
Please make it stop...
The pain did not go away. Now the pain shot up his spine, straight into his mind.

"AAAAGHHH!"
It was surreal, a loud banging noise could be heard, the room which was so dark before lit up as bright as the sun but Leonard couldn't close his eyes. No wait, his eyes were closed but that bright flash of light and the thunderous blast of noise overtook all his senses.

When the light and noise threatened to consume Leonard, the pain...stopped.

"Phase 2 complete. Subject pushed to limit and back successfully. Now moving to Phase 3"
Leonard braced himself, but felt nothing.
Maybe I'm finally dead.
Images of Leonard's life start to flash before his eyes. The life he lived and the life he didn't want. He saw himself win full honors on his science team.
For what? A high end job that sought to get me killed?
He saw himself attending the balls and parties of the rich and famous.
Nothing but sycophants. They are the scum of society and I...become like them
He saw Elisa on their first night together. She was as radiant as the sun.
Elisa...
And then he saw that night when Elisa told him of the son that never came to be
I...should have went to her. I should have never been so nonchalant and uncaring.
Why?
I was...afraid. I didn't know what to do. I wanted to cry but couldn't do it. I thought I was a wretched human being
So you wanted to kill yourself?
He saw himself on that mountain pass not so long ago, driving his car in the dead of night.
I know this place. This corner was well known for it's fatal accidents over the cliff. I could make it look like an accident, no one has to know. It would be easier that way for Elisa. They know I've been drinking. Yes...Elisa...I'm sorry.
Leonard hit the accelerator.

Leonard woke up

"Phase 3 complete."

"Get the hell out of my mind you freaks!" Leonard felt a deep sense of pain. Not like the pain brought to him by this machine but a pain of the heart. No one but Leonard could know what happened that night. They can take his his body, they can take his pride, but they will never take his memories!

The man behind the computer ignores him.
"Subject shows normal brain wave frequencies. There is a zero percent chance of brain damge or memory loss. Now we wait for Doctor-"

"Good work, I'll take over here"

A man enters the room.

(Almost there...One more I think and then open season)

 

"RRROOWRR!"
One alarm was torn out of its housing and stomped to bits.
He howled, irritated. So much noise had HURT.
Then, having quite departed his senses, he attempted to eat another boat. When this failed, he attempted to jump on Leah to eat her, only to get fried to a crisp. One freshly cooked lobotomized experiment crumpled on the dock, smoking a little.

 

“Who says I was trying to kill you with the bullets? See, these bullets can counter our abilities, and it looks like you are no different in that sense.” Zach still had no use of his arm, so he wouldn’t be able to do much. Then he heard a bunch of alarms going off, so he hoped Leah was able to find the others. As much as he hated to run from a battle, he stood no chance without his arm. “As much as I would love to continue this, I believe that my friends are after me. You even think about trying to attack them, I can guarantee that you may not live through it.”

Zach bolted for it, and ran in the direction he heard the alarm. Once in there, he saw a bunch of boats, and Leah was there with what looked like a shield, and the wolfman was a crisp. There were also two others here as well.

“So, it seems Leah did manage to find some help, although not exactly what I was expecting.”
