Experimentals

The door to the refugee center was repaired. Leonard decided this time it would be better to knock, he had Slasher hold back.
"Hey open up in there! We're the investigators from the other day, we got more questions."
There wasn't much noise coming from inside
"Open up or I'll blast this door open again!"
Well that got someone's attention as the door slowly creeps open. As luck would have it it was that brown shirt man who was leading the group of refugees here. He must be the pastor.

Screw formalities, let's just grab him and be done with this
"There he is! Grab him!"

Both Leonard and Slasher pinned the man to the ground.
"Argh! What are you doing! Get your hands off me!"
"Hold still, I'm looking for answers"
Leonard dove into the memories of the pastor

When dealing with Shapeshifter, Leonard learned that he could control the flow of thoughts a person had if he made him think of the questions he was asking.
"You been helping Shapeshifter feed on the homeless in this section of the city haven't you?"
The man's thoughts shifted to Shapeshifter, they were making some kind of agreement
"No...no. I don't know what your talking about."
"You can't hide from me, I can read your memory of him! What did he give you? Where is the treasure that he gave you?"
The man then thought of a small box, he was putting it away behind the cross that hung in the back of the room
A sign that God is trying to hide the secrets of the underground lab? That's an amusing thought

Leonard left the man pinned down by Slasher and made his way to the cross. Sure enough a small metal box was hidden behind the cross. Unfortunately he mishandled the heavy wooden cross and he caused it to crash to the floor, it sent a loud echo in the room.

Inside the metal box was a keycard. It was the one to the underground lab.
The man who was on the ground groaned.
"Please...please don't!"

 

Zach limped into the room, and sat down. He still had the blade attacked to his arm, so he let it go back to normal, and the blade fell off. Zach would need more practice with sword fighting, so that was his next goal. Apparently Leah had locked herself in the bathroom, but he didn’t worry, she would come out when she wanted to.

“Hey Atlas, are there any places in the city that store a lot of information? If I can hack into those places, I figure it can give us the upper hand against the labs, as well as help us to get more things here in the city.”

 

"Please...please don't! Don't open that door!"
The man was squirming underneath the boot of Slasher

"After what you did do these people you have no right to tell me what to do!"
Leonard walked up to the man in kicked him in the stomach
"Your lucky I don't kill you right on this spot!"
Doctor Zenma never told Leonard what to do with the apparent runaway subject. His powers must have been so weak that the hunters weren't putting a lot of resources into finding him. No one would care if he were to...disappear

"NO! NO! Don't kill me! I had no choice! He made me do it! He threaten to tell the hunters where I live if I didn't feed him the useless people that live here! I don't want to die! Just leave me alone! No one cares for these junkies anyway, they are useless here, better for them to sacrifice themselves for people like us to live, right? Your one of us, you'll understand."

Now Leonard really kicked the man
"You sick bastard!"

"Boss, the doctor wants us to return the key as soon as possible" Slasher still had his boot on the man's back. He was looking out the door apparently ready to go.

"Let's get out of here then."
Leonard took a look at the crying man on the floor. Whether it was joy of being left alive or pain of the vicious kicking he delivered to him it mattered not.
"This place reeks of garbage"

After the two men left, the plants in the room started to grow abnormally large. The vines protruding from them grew at a rapid pace. They reached out to grab the man and pulled him into their embrace.
"Project Amazon will consume you!"

With that they snapped his neck

"This is perfect! Now we can enter the abandoned lab without alerting anyone. First we need to prepare though. I don't really know what kind of wild experiment got loose in there but it was enough to destroy them. We must proceed cautiously"

Leonard watched Zenma store the keycard in a safe. It appeared it was not yet time to open the underground door. For all his eagerness to get the key, Zenma didn't seem willing to use it right away. He already ran a scan of it, it was the real deal and the only way into the underground lab without having to resort to blasting open the door.

"So doctor, what kind of preparations?"
"First off the the lab underground used to run off the power from the powerplant near here. We need to find a way to divert the power back to the lab without tipping off anyone. Secondly I don't have the manpower to clear out whatever it is that infests those labs. If you count myself and Slasher, that leaves 12 armed guards to assault the underground lab. If I move too many men down there, the lab from the island will notice that this hotel security has been moved around without their knowledge."

That would be a problem. If the lab notices that the Lucky Seven Hotel is not under their control then their cover would be blown.
"We can always risk it doctor. Maybe it's not so bad down there that we need an army"
"No, this needs to be done right the first time. Failure won't just mean our deaths, that project down there was designed to grow at an infinite pace. If we unseal the door and find that the infestation is growing out again, we MUST destroy it at it's root. Who knows what could happen to this area, no to this entire city if it's let out."

Okay I'm starting to doubt we should even open that door
"Doctor... I don't think this is worth it. I mean I'm sure there are other places we can set up a base"
"No, I must get access to that lab. There is knowledge in those computer databanks that hasn't been touched in years. That lab was years ahead of it's time. It unlocked secrets that even the island of today couldn't even dream of. The chance to discover something groundbreaking is too great a reward to pass off. Sure the risk is potentially catastrophic but..."

The sound of cheering could be heard in the blackjack table nearby.

"I say this gamble is worth the ride"

 

"His name is Zach, right...?"
Claus had noticed something interesting about the young man named Zach. He saw an ability somewhat similar to his own; specifically, it seemed that Zach could manipulate metal and turn it into a weapon. He had no idea how much Zach could do with this power, but he was quite curious as to how similar this power was and what it was capable of. For that reason, he followed Zach after training was over.

“Hey Atlas, are there any places in the city that store a lot of information? If I can hack into those places, I figure it can give us the upper hand against the labs, as well as help us to get more things here in the city.”

This question caught his attention immediately. With a smile, Claus approached the two and looked at Zach.
"Ah, a fellow hacker, I see. That should make acquiring new information even easier. That's good to know."
He then looked over to Atlas.
"I'd like to know as well, if you wouldn't mind. I had planned to return to the laboratory on my own to see if I could gain any more insight into their operations, but I am open-minded to other ideas. I'll admit, the thought of going back there is...unpleasant."

 

"Now that he's out, wanna talk?"
Mr. Red looks at Half with a disgusted look, he takes more of his drugs thats in the box.
"What you want?"
"Well, i just want to see if Zed wants to donate something."
Mr. Red looks at Zed, who is current unconscious, he looks back at Half with a disgusted look.
"Why should he donate?"
"I just need it."
Half's face showing a wicked smile, the words I just need it, went through Mr. Reds head. He just needs it? For what? Zed rolls on his side.
"Ashley. . . ."
Mr. Red widens his eyes, the name Ashley rang a bell. Mr. Red looks at Half, who is still smiling.
"You can take his left index finger."
Half tilts his head
"Can i really?"
"Yes you can, but in return, you do not come after us for a while."
"O don't worry about that."
Half turns around and goes up to Zed, he starts laughing. He grabs his left hand and starts feeling his index finger.
"Its just perfect."
Half grabs the index finger and bites it off Zeds hand. Zed wakes up from the pain, screaming and shouting. Half goes to the door and looks at Mr. Red and Zed with the index finger hanging from his mouth
"Thanks for the donation."
Half leaves the room and Zed looking at Mr. Red, passes out.

"I would like that, when would you like to start? I can teach you how to make dinner for tonight if you like"
Leah had opened the door just enough to look around
"are the others out there, or did they leave? I heard what they said, I hadn't known that you guys were back and well.."
she looked down
"I hope Zach isn't upset with me"
"I'm sure he isn't, besides if you think about it, its just as much his fault as it is yours....as for that, i'll just watch and learn for a bit. I don't want them seeing me cooking just yet. And we can start now, we had just gotten done but we can't really due too much right now as far as movement with the way the district is. Come on Blaze and I can teach you what we know about our powers"

"Hmmm well lads each district keeps it's own records and they are usually stored in the police building. There is a main hub in what would be city hall however as I'm sure you gathered both these locations are rather guarded. To be honest the majority of our own info comes from the old fashion way: snooping around, knowing the labs movements and habits, best i can tell you is keep an ear out and an eye open. We have a few among our numbers who act as interceptors of their info, Echo is one of them. If you wanted you could try tapping into one of receivers, help pick up on what they are sending out."

 

OOT: Well I havent seen the other refferences. Unless I have and then forgot which I do a lot. But the one I was talking about was The mikasa and kokoro from a ceartain blah blah blah franchise. At first I was like well this is a little familier then you added the sis part and it clicked.

 

The owl continued flying and landed on the shoulder of Felix.
"So hes alone perfect."
Felix grabbed his snake vex and threw him into the water. The snake mutated turning into what seemed to be a legless version of the lock Ness monster
Felix and his wolf dirge jumped onto the snake and it took off speeding through the water. When they got closer Felix touched his bird hied and its legs stretched out around him, the wing span grew, and his muscles strengthened. Vex returned to normal and jumped onto Felix's staff. Felix touched dirge and he began to change dramatically. His bone structure shrunk and he became lighter. Felix grabbed dirge and was able to pick him up easily. They took off and landed just out of Locks site. He could over hear their conversation. They had switched from complaining about food to complaining about the fact they hadn't played video games in so long. He snuck up to them slowly. He needed to take out the man next to him. He changed Vex's venom to paralyzing and had him bite the man.
"SHIT THAT HURTS!"
Jet fell over onto the ground.
"Jet!"
Locks looked around frantically and quickly found the shadowy figure. Locks fired chains at him.
"Attacking your own cousin, that's pretty rude."
"What?"
"Oh that's right my face and voice have changed a little now. Cousin Felix at your service."
Locks was horrified at his new form.
"What the hell happened to you?"
"Same thing that happened to you. Experiments."

Zach decided to follow Frost and Blaze for training. He could do some hacking later, he really wanted to do some sword fighting, even with his foot hurting a bit. He also wanted to see what Leah could do with her abilities. He grabbed the blade he dropped before, and let his arm absorb the metal. Zach then attached the blade to his arm.

“This should be interesting to see. Even with my foot hurting a bit, I’d like to train as well. I also want to see what you are all capable of.” Zach then went and grabbed scrap iron, and shaped it into a blade. “Plus, I want to see how well my double sword technique works.”

 

"I'll let you lead the way to practice"
"All right let's go then"
We make it back into the main room, where everyone is doing their own thing. I see blaze hasn't left so i call over to him
"Blaze come on, need you help showing leah the basics of power control"
"Alright then, on my way"
I get up and start walking with Frost and leah when Zach also chimes in.
“This should be interesting to see. Even with my foot hurting a bit, I’d like to train as well. I also want to see what you are all capable of.”
"Fine, just don't fall asleep on us"

The four of us head to the warehouse. Once inside Frost starts to speak
"The very first step in use of your power is control, if you can't have control over it then there are many dangers that could arise from it. To get you started i should example what we have found. Seems our powers require our focus to work, more so with mental it seems but it's another story. For now focus your mind, think about what it is you want to do and do it, your power will act in accordance to your thoughts and will. Blaze can you demonstrate?"
I nod my head yes and hold out my hand, near instantly a fireball forms in it.
"Blaze wanted to create a fireball so he did. However given the instant speed, there seems to be a rather large gap between the two of you. The possible reasons are endless, More use of power, the type, genes, etc... But that doesn't mean much as even someone with little skill can best a master in certain circumstances. Not all powers are designed for wide range use. Even more still there are plenty I can do that he can't, Blaze try making claws"
I but one a confused face, I've never tried making fire claws. They seem impractical as the fire had no solid form to it, but i try anyway with no sucess
"See?" Frost say while making ice claw after ice claw. "But I'm getting ahead of my self here, we will get into utiliy and uses later one. For now let's see if we can't get you to draw out your power. Focus on what it is you want to do, then once you have that solidly in your mind I want to you think back on the times you showed use of the power. What as going on, how did you feel, what was your mind like, let these thoughts remind you what it 'felt' like to use your power, and re-create it now for the purpose you are focusing on"
Frost looked at leah then looked back over at me, from the look she gave me she wasn't me to do that if she doesn't seem to get what we are saying. Geeez Frost, I just barely know what happens how the hell am i suppose to show her it when i haven't been able to test it fully

 

"What did you do to Jet?"
"He's only paralyzed he will stand back up some time soon."
Felix took a serious stance.
"I don't mean any harm and I'm not here to attack you. Your friend would of attacked me instantly so I just took some percautions."
"You went a little far."
"I did what was necessary."
Locks picked jet up off the ground and leaned him against a wall.
"So why you here."
"First to apologize."
"For what."
"Getting you sent here, I'm the one who found that your genes were a match for the experiments."
Locks clenched his fist and punched Felix to the ground. He slowly stood up.
"I deserved that. Second I was here to see if you could help me out."
"Not really my decision but ill see what I can do."
Locks looked at his wrinkled green skin.
"Is there anyway to fix that?"
"It should fade in a few days, everything will return to normal except for my left arm."
"How do you know that."
"Isn't it obvious I designed this experiment. Same way I helped design yours."

 

Zach decided to follow Frost and Blaze for training.

Claus had a somewhat indignant look on his face as he watched Zach leave and looked back at Atlas.
"Am I being ignored?"
He let out a sigh.
"I suppose I might as well see what they're up to. Thank you for the information...Atlas, wasn't it? I'll see you around."
Not waiting for a response, Claus followed Zach back to the training grounds, muttering to himself.
"I still need to find out more about those blades he can make. To be frank, I am somewhat...lacking in options when it comes to close-quarters combat. If I could just touch one of those blades once, I think I might be able to create something similar to it."
As he approached the training grounds, he saw a girl giving an explanation on powers to the rest of the group. He vaguely remembered the name "Frost" and assumed that it was her.

Focus on what it is you want to do, then once you have that solidly in your mind I want to you think back on the times you showed use of the power. Leah then opened her eyes and was surprised to see that she had created a black hole. She lifted her hand and the ball moved with her
"I-I did it"
she said excitedly

Observing this from a short distance, Claus casually approached the group with a broad smile on his face. He clapped a few times as he looked at Leah.
"Impressive! I gather that this is your first time exercising your power of your own free will. Not bad at all for your first time."
He was genuinely pleased, but not so much because he was happy for Leah.
"Finally...we're one step closer to bringing down the laboratory. Once we win our freedom, that's when things will get interesting."
He kept these sentiments to himself as he congratulated her on a job well done.

 

Zach saw that Leah had formed the black hole just by concentrating, he was really impressed by it. It was probably just his bias, but damn, she was both sexy and dangerous, a combo he really liked.

“Wow Leah, that is incredible. But also make sure you limit the size, or cut it off when it gets too big, otherwise it will suck us in. Now I’m going to try something.” Zach said, and he absorbed metal lying around to his arm.

Zach placed his metal arm on the ground, and used the property of iron’s magnetic field to search for other pieces of metal nearby. He felt them, and used some of the energy to call the metal to him. He could feel the metal underground, and using some of his will, dragged the metal through the ground. Then something weird happened. Everything around him looked like it was being filtered through a blue screen. He could see everyone, but it was like they were being filtered through a white noise. He could also see the metal moving through the ground, and when it came up, he saw what looked like blue lines attached to the metal, all leading to his arm. He willed the metal into blades, and brought them to him. He grabbed one, and it looked like the rest of the blades were hovering on his back. He could feel the energy coursing through him, and into the blades.

Amazing, I can actually control the metal, and use multiple blades. Zach allowed the blades to spin around him, and that is when things went very wrong. He started to feel different, like a rage deep inside him was forcing its way to the top. His mind became clouded with anger and hatred, and it was focused on one person, Leah. Kill her, beat her, rape her, rip her to shreds. Those were the only thoughts going through his mind. He grabbed one of the blades off his back, and charged right at Leah. Deep in his subconscious, an abnormal thought emerged, triggered by a single nanomachine, and it took over Zach.

 

"I-I did it"
Leah said excitedly.
"Nice"
"We have progress"
Frost and I gave our thoughts on Leah making the black hole . hen Claus casually approached the group with a broad smile on his face. He clapped a few times as he looked at Leah.
"Impressive! I gather that this is your first time exercising your power of your own free will. Not bad at all for your first time."
I look over to Claus then back at Frost, seems she is looking at me as well. Something is wrong, that smile, it seems to hide something. Maybe Atlas's and Echo's paranoia is rubbing off on me but I'm don't like this.....

"Right, now stop your power. And make it reform again, two reasons: to test how much it actually takes out of you to use it, and to make sure we didn't just have beginners luck"
"Frost......"
She just tilted her head when i called her, Ahhhh~ she really doesn't know how to be genuinely nice does she?
It was about that time I noticed something, no more accurately i had just noticed, Frost had already seen and was starting to form a stance. Zach had pulled one of his newly formed blades out and charged toward leah
""LEAH MOVE!"" Frost and I yell at the same time
