A man in a white cloak and black gloves stood before Leonard.
"What a wonderful specimen. We truly are blessed to have the brillent Leonard Batista join our ranks."

"Who, who are you people?" Leonard croaked
The doctor ignored him and turned to his assistant "Have you determined what abilities this subject has acquired?"
"Subject 0547 has not shown any outward appearance of mutation Dr. Zenma. However the subject regained his complete memories during the third phase. I believe his power revealed itself during that phase."

Dr. Zenma clasped his hands in apparent delight "Wonderful! A brilliant mind to go with a mental power! I believe we have struck a goldmine!" The doctor grabbed Steven who was still standing in the corner of the room by the arm. "Come with me Mr.Blight, I'll show you first hand this jewel you have just given me"

"Hey get your hands off me!" Steven exclaimed as he is dragged before Leonard. The doctor is much stronger then he looks. "Now, now, there is no need to be afraid Mr.Blight, I'm only going to use you for a little science experiment..."

Steven's eyes open wide with shock as he is shoved towards Leonard and the machine.

"Release the restraints"

Leonard lands on the ground on his own two feet. There was only one thing Leonard knew what to do in this situation. He grabbed Steven with his right arm and immediately felt a rush of feeling from the man.

Steven...no. That was not his real name. The man known as Steven was a war orphan. He never knew his parents, he was picked up by a local missionary when he was 9. At the age of 14 he stole money from the church's tithe in order buy himself a ticket to the big city. The boy was unassuming. Never really staying in one place for to long. One day he stole from a very pretty red haired women. The women was too fast though. Almost...inhumanly fast. "My, what have we here? Young men like you should be touching girls like me, not stealing purses" The boy was scared. If she told the police he would never see the light of day. "Please miss, I'm sorry I'll do anything but please, don't tell the police!" "Oh I believe you young man. I'm new to the city and I need more eyes and ears. I think an urchin like you would do perfectly"

"ARGH!!! GET OUT OF MY MIND!!!" Steven pulls himself out of Leonard's grasp
"What...what did I just do?" Leonard asks
"That is your ability subject 0574. I'm curious as to know what it is you saw."
"I...I saw a memory. I saw him, I saw him when he was a young boy" Leonard felt sick. What the hell just happened?

Zenma clasped his hands together again. "Wonderful! Simply wonderful! If my assumptions are correct you may be able to pick the threads of one's memory! We must learn everything about this ability! You would be a huge boon to our mind altering drugs."

Leonard took a threatening step forward. There was no way in hell he was going to be experimented on again.
"If you think I'll go along with this doctor then your wrong"
Dr. Zenma pulled his black gloves tight around his hands. "Yes I'm afraid they always say that in the beggining"

SLAM

A huge force knocked Leonard back to the metal bed.
I don't think this guy is playing around

(OOC- Okay ridiculously long intro is out of the way. From now on I'll try to make small posts to get outside influence kicking in.)

 

He looked around, a lot had happened in the matter a few seconds. Leah had freaked out the wolf man was zapped and that guy Zach was back.
"Why we didn't join your group? Well, there's some stuff we wanted to do."
He double checked the area. The wolf man was smoking crumpled up on the side. Zach was walking towards him slowly.
"Jet be on guard make sure nothing happens to Jess I don't know what these guys will do."
"Got it."
"Yo Zach!"
He looked over at the man.
"Take Leah back to your base I doubt they want us there. Just tell Blaze and Atlas that Locks helped you back."
Just then Jess stood up.
"Jess!"
Locks ran over to Jess to help her.
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah I'm fine. I used my power and then I felt this sharp pain in my head. Wait why are we back here."
"We brought Leah as far back as we could, we were about to head out."
"Locks I think we should stay."
"Why?"
"That guy has some interesting thoughts going through his head and I think they're connected to why I passed out. Were staying until we get some info and then we can do what ever you say."
Locks sighed and said, "Fine. Jet you cool with that?"
He just nodded.

 

"Now hold on there doctor. We are civilized men and we can discuss this. You have something I need. A way to get back back at the bastards that betrayed me. You can use that against me. It would be a waste if these experiments would cause any...accidents. You don't want to risk any unfortunate incidents with your top rising star do you?. There is a better way to get the results you seek"

Leonard was stalling and shooting in the dark. There was something in Steven's memory about that red haired women. She was too unnatural, her movements too quick. The incidents the doctor was referring to earlier may have to do with escapees. If that red head women was from this lab...

"Hmm, I'm listening. What is it you propose subject 0574?"
He took the bait but now what do I say?
"Isn't it obvious? I need to use my powers to get the results you need right? How about you bring other test subjects for me to use it on. That way we don't have to waste time with this... electric chair of yours"

"Nice try Mr. Batista but I'm am not a fool. Exposing you to other lab subjects at your unknown state of mind is an action of foolhardiness."
Dr. Zenma put his gloved fist out and somehow forced Leonard back onto the metal bed.
"Reactivate the restraints"
No! Not again!

"No wait! There is something else you need to know!"
"Stop wasting my time subject 0574"
"It's Steven! He's ...he's spying on your organization!"

The room stilled. Zenma took a hard look at Steven Blight.

(OOC- Thanks Miss Serenity for the character sheet on the original post. I'll post an update for my character sheet. Oh maybe I'll post a picture of my character as well)

 

Steven's face had the look of horror. He struggled to reclaim the smug look he had on earlier.
"He's mad" Steven stutters "He's obviously trying to buy time. You should hurry up and...do whatever it is you people do. I need get to the office for a board meeting."

"I delved into a memory, a red haired women with incredible speed wants you to spy on this lab!" Leonard blurts out
It was a wild guess. The memory only revealed the women wanting Steven to keep tabs on the city.
However Dr. Zenma started at this news.
"Tell me everything you know Mr. Batista."
"Not until you release these restraints doctor"
"I don't think you realize the position your in"
"Oh I realize all right. I'll tell you everything you want to know but please, anything but the bed!"
It hurt to show weakness in front of these men but Leonard thought he would go mad if he went on that metal bed again
Dr. Zenma hesitated then looked at Steven.
"On who's authority did you say brought you here?"
"Don't tell me you believe what that raving lunatic is saying?"
"On who's authority?"
"Higher authority then you doctor. Touch me one more time and I'll have your head. I wasted enough time here, I must be going" With that Steven Blight left the room.

"Aren't you going to stop him!?" cries Leonard
"And possibly suffer the wrath of the higher ups? You have a lot to learn subject 0574. Release the restraints."

The assistant resists "But doctor, what about the testing?"
"Too risky. This subject is too valuable to risk brain damage. Besides..."
Dr. Zenma leans in
"The subject is under my care. All he needs is a little training and he would be a good puppy. He won't risk biting the hand that feeds him."
Dr. Zenma looks at the metal bed, and Leonard flinched.
"Now subject 0574, it's time for you to talk."

Leonard proceeds to tell Dr. Zenma all he knew of Steven.

OOC- Great now I have a free hand to jump in at any moment. I'll just follow along all your plots until I find a decent moment (or you do, but that's your prerogative)

 

Locks over heard their conversation.
"Ok they're defiantly well acquainted."
"Locks why were you fighting them?"
"Well, we used to work for the labs until we quit after our fight with them."
"Oh"
"Just oh I thought you would react more to that."
"Look Past is the past."
"Ok i need you to fly up and circle the area. If you see any guards just think about the fact that guards are coming and Jess will get the message."
"Right."
As he said that his legs were once again surrounded by a tornado lifting him into the air where he began circling the area like a vulture.
"Jess take a break for a while ok you just woke up."
"I'm fine Locks."
"Ok Just don't push yourself."
He looked over at the wolfman shriveled up on the ground. His burns were slowly fading.
"Jess whats he thinking."
"Basically nothing, theirs an occasional thought of eating or Leah but that's all. Wait whoa that's crazy."
"What."
"When he thinks eat he thinks about eating us."
"Shit well just be on guard."
He looked over at Leah she was still bombarding Zach with questions.. He just had to wait for Blaze and the others to show up."

 

“Well Leah, to answer your questions, I’m not physically hurt, but I don’t think I’ll be able to use my bio-morphing abilities for a while. I’m not sure who that person was, but they can somehow absorb our abilities and use them against us. My arm is still numb from the fight. I managed to find my way here from the alarms, and I have a feeling he may try and come for us.”

Zach looked over to the others, a girl and two guys. Locks, Jess, and Jet were their names, if he heard that correctly. “Locks, it seems that we have people hunting us, and I had a feeling we would run into them out here in the city. I managed to slow that one hunter down with special bullets I stole from the lab, but he will be back. Be careful if you go against him, he can turn your abilities against you and disable you for a while. For now, I’m going to hack into a few of the systems here in the city and try to find out more about the place. Be careful.”


Zach then held out his left hand to Leah, and wrapped his arm around her waist. “Thankfully I remember the way back to the warehouse. As I said before, I can’t use my bio-morphing abilities for now, so I’ll just have to steal more info on the city to help with the resistance. Sorry that I won’t be of much use otherwise. I hope you are ok otherwise.”

 

"Thanks Zach, but I'm gonna be frank with you. We were working for the labs but now we don't. I still have my badge but its probably not any use besides deterring guards who don't know that Atlas and that lot faked our deaths. Jess didn't want to leave until you told us that stuff. Also That guy, It looks like he can steal a power if its even used on him. Jess read his mind and then he turned it around and knocked her out."
"Locks why did you tell him that what if he tries to attack us?"
"We'll be fine he seems like a sensible person."
Jet landed.
"Locks. Guards heard the alarms they'll be here any minute."
"I told you to send the thought to Jess it would be quicker."
"Yeah well tough shit we need to get out of here."
"Fine"
"Hey guys there are guards coming this way run back to your base!"
"What are we gonna do."
"Well I was gonna ask them if they minded if we tagged along."
"What do you say Zach?"

 

Frost and I continued walking while the wolfman ran ahead. Shortly there after both of us heard an alarm.
"Not good"
"Seems they are in trouble"
As we realize they are in trouble we hear guards running
"HEY YOU TWO! Don't you know being out this late is dang-AGHUH!" Before he could finish Frost had slide-stepped behind him and knocked him out in one fluid motion. The other guards became scared while Frost just turned to me
"Come on help me out here, Knocking them all out a pain in the ass"
I nod while the guards start running, poor fools, they couldn't run fast enough even if they tried with all their might

After dispatching the guards in a few minutes he continue walking only to find a group of people. Unfortunately it's not just the people we are looking for. Seems Locks and Jess are there along with a third. Zach is resting his arm on leah while she has a worried look on her face. Wolfman is laying on the ground fried, wait a minute.... were they attack? I look over to Frost and seems she came to the same idea.
"We gave them a chance"
"And looks like it backfired, what do we do?"
"Simple, kill them like we said. There are no idol threats"

I ready to fireballs while Frost forms ice claws ready to strike at them. I send the fireballs at locks one barely missing his face and the other melting a part of chain armor he had made. Frost sent out ice spikes from her claws at the other two and the came close enough to make shallow cuts but nothing serious. We missed them on purpose, sending warning shots and got their attention
"Atlas was pretty clear as to what would happen should you return to hunting"
"Shouldn't have restarted, would have been easier that way, but now we have to freeze.."
"Or burn your bodies"
""Good luck""
*FLASH* After seeing out a bright flash of light Frost and I slide and Jet-step immediately going on the offensive after Lock's group

 

"Jet get Jess out of here! Don't let anything happen to her, I'm probably not going to make it out of this so I'm trusting you!"
"Locks no I'm staying we can reason with them!"
"JET NOW!"
Jets legs were surrounded in a tornado as he grabbed Jess. They were lifted into the sky extremely fast and they flew out into the city.
The chain armor on locks reverted back to long thick chains that were spiked at the tip. He shot the chains forward tripping both Frost and Blaze.
"People always jump to freaking conclusions!"
Locks looked down at his side one of their warning shots hit to close to one of his earlier wounds splitting it open. Blood was spilling out and Locks felt dizzy. He did the only thing he could. Chains flew from every direction forming a massive barrier dome around him.
"Looks like I'm going to be done in for helping someone*COUGH*. Fucking irony at its best Ha......"
Locks past out unconscious from the blood loss. When he fainted all the chains forming the dome went limp and spread out around his body.
Jess' screams could be heard in the distance
"LOCKS NO!"
OOT:Hes not dead hes just passed out.

 

Somewhere out in the city
"Why did you grab me we could of helped him!?"
"He told me to, I follow orders. And were going back in an hour or two."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah we wouldn't of stood a chance against the whole damn resistance, we were lucky Locks had the balls to distract them."
"No NO NO!!!"
"Whats wrong?"
"Locks thoughts! They went blank."
"Does that mean hes....... you know."
Jess had tears in her eyes.
"Most likely. The only other thing is he could be unconscious but those guys were aiming to kill."
"Were going back now."
"But Locks said..."
"Screw it."
Jet grabbed Jess and and flew back to the fight and landed next to Locks' body.
"Shit hes alive. But barley."
"We cant move him hell lose to much blood."
Jess and Jet both get into a guarding position.

 

"PLEASE STOP!!! They didn't do anything, they were helping me. I- I got lost and they brought me here"
As leah yelled this she got in front of Locks and acted as a shield, any shots at him would have to hit her first
"Didn't do anything, that's hard to believe considering the state you are in, as well as Zach. Even that wolf is hurt"
"And if they didn't do wrong why did they run, they could have reasoned"
"Besides reasoning look at it from our view, former hunter who we just released today surrounding you and zach while you support each other. Any way you slice it looks like an attack. In this city it's best to not count on 'human kindness' you should have studied the map more or stayed at home. Blaze, we need to make sure he isn't a threat, last thing we need is a drawn out fight with them here"
After Frost scolds leah both of us start walking over to Locks to check him to see if he is still breathing. As we do the two from earlier come back and take up a defensive form.
"Shit hes alive. But barley."
"We cant move him hell lose to much blood."
"Back to join him? should have ran"
"Wait... Did you three do this to them, i realize you could lie just to save your own ass but tell me, were you helping that girl?"
I ask Jess this question, if it is a misunderstanding then this can be resolved and we all go our own ways. But if not..... Frost is still on guard as she hasn't gotten rid of the ice claws, in fact the air around her as cooled to the point of being visible. I have fire ready and await their response

 

Present day in District 36

The streets are lively as ever, people talking, discos pumping and shops closing for the day. For in this district is special, the whole district is for scientists to rest their minds and relax once in a while, and to indulge themselves to what the life outside is like. There is about ten million scientists working in pandora and some of them live in the districts, instead of the outside world. Mainly districts 26, 36 and 46, of course pandora is not just in one nation, they have spread themselves throughout the world. The main facilities pandora has are in the United States, Japan and Europe. The numbers of pandora employes increase little by little. All the new employes are always warned to not go into District 36 unless you have a fellow worker that has already experienced district 36, the warning given to the new employes always scare them away but when they spend more time in pandora they wonder, whats so scary of district 36? Then there is when the foolish employe goes into district 36 and makes a dreadful mistake, and when you make that mistake in district 36, you never come back alive.

Night time in District 36

A blind man begging for money in front of a bar called 'Demacian Justice' is sitting down his bowl in front of him. A couple of workers walking past the blind man throws a bottle cap into his bowl, the blind man gets up and walks to the workers, he taps on one of them on the back.
"What you want?"
"Im Blind but i can tell."
"Ehhhh say what again?"
The blind man raises his fist and punches one of the workers, he looks at the worker on the right and kicks him in the stomach. The other worker on the left stands there, shocked.
"Im guessing you came into district 36, thinking that this district is no difference to 26 and 46 right?"
"Yea"
"Let me give you a warning, this district is not safe, unless you have someone that has experienced this place."
"Yea, okay."
The worker turns around and starts running towards the exit, as he reaches the exit his body is sliced in half and he falls to the ground. The blind man looks up at the roof, he frowns. He goes back to the spot he was on and sits down. A man comes out of the bar and sees the blind man sitting down frowning, the man whistles and the blind man looks at the man
"You know, you could of saved him if you gave the signal."
"Those who give me a bottle cap must suffer."
*Sigh*

This is why we do not go into district 36 unless we have someone that has experienced whats in there. District 36 is not only for the scientists and workers, but it is also for the test subjects. Of course they do not like being our test subjects, but those who cooperate with us gets to relax in district 36. If any suspicious acts it will be eliminated by the elite 6, who are specially trained to show no mercy and kill all who oppose pandora. The test subjects know this and have seen many friends die by this elite 6, so not many reports concerning district 36 having a rebellion. However the test subjects are allowed to kill those who provoke them, example if you throw a bottle cap at the blind man he is allowed to kill you, or let another kill you. This is why the new employes are told only to go, if a fellow scientist knows what to do.

OOT: Hot damn you guys type fast, i just wanted to type something up quickly for today.

 

A fireball hit Locks out of nowhere, sending him to the ground. From what Zach saw, he was bleeding badly, and needed medical attention. Zach also saw Frost and Blaze ready for a kill shot, and Leah was screaming at them to stop.

“Frost, Blaze, that was completely uncalled for. They helped us, if it wasn’t for them setting off the alarm, I wouldn’t have been able to find them. They may have been working for the lab before, but now they are on our side. Back off, they are trying to help us.”


Zach was still useless without his bio-morph ability, so there wasn’t much he would be able to do.

“They helped me escape a hunter, one that can steal our abilities and use them against us. That’s why my arm is like this. Jumping to conclusions will get us killed, and then what good will a counterstrike against the lab be?”

 

"Yeah Leah was running from some guy. I read the guys mind and I was knocked out by it. Zach thinks he steals powers. Locks brought Leah here because it was the closest place to your base we knew."
"Locks kicked a boat to set of an alarm and get your attention but Leah went crazy. She was covered in electricity and the wolf man jumped on her, he was zapped. Zach was probably injured in his fight with that power stealing guy."
"So in short yeah we were helping your team mate and you might of just killed our leader."
"And if you think your going near him again, your fucking wrong!"
"Im going to try and close the wound. Jet keep them away."
She pulled a thread out of her shirt and grabbed a piece of the spiked chain as a needle. She sewed his wound up as best she could.
"This is going to get infected and he needs medical treatment."
"Shit this is just what we need."
Jets hands were engulfed in wind as he assumed a defensive position as Blaze walked closer.
"Get Away NOW!"
"Jet!"
"Hes lost way to much blood I don't know how much longer hes gonna hold up."
Jess began to cry. His eyes slowly opened to water landing on his face. Was it rain? No their were loud sobs, somone was crying.
"Jess stop."
"Locks no don't talk you need to rest were going get medical supplies you will get better."
"Jess stop!"
He slowly began to stand up supporting himself on a cane made of iron chain.
"Jess."
"I think I'm going to be fine."
"How do you know?"
"I just do, I just need some rest."
Locks collapsed and began to fall to the ground. Before he slammed Jess caught him.

 

The constant questioning was tiring. The cell he occupies smelled funny, the mattress harder then the floor. He longed for the grand bed in his home.
They probably tore down that place by now. I wonder if the safe house below was discovered

His captors have not treated him as badly as before. In fact they seemed to be rather honest about their work. It was almost rather refreshing to see people who didn't hide the ugliness in their hearts. They remind him of his father, that unrelenting drive to get results. It seems the doctor made good on his promise to avoid the painful metal bed. The both of them agreed that Steven Blight must pay for his treachery. It was the only common ground between the doctor and Leonard.
Must be Stockholm Syndrome. These guys just want to use me

The guard outside knocked on his cell door twice. Moments later a tray of food was slid in the compartment.
Whatever it takes to keep surviving. Well at least until I get back at those who wronged me
Dr. Zenma was taking no chances. Leonard was completely isolated during his free time. The idea that Leonard could even fight the guards outside was ridiculous.
It's not as if my ability could be used in that way anyway. I can see memories, not control them. I would have no where to go. At least here I get three meals and a cot.
The screams of another experiment gone wrong could be heard next door
That's another one. They sure get a lot of failures. I wonder why?

During his questioning, some unaltered captives were brought before Leonard to test his power. Each one he touched with his right hand. Their past came flooding into his mind. It was like the rushing of waves and he could barely hold on. Fear. Fear was the predominate emotion he felt. It was enough to make a man go mad. To prevent himself from losing control, Leonard had to pick single moments in time, to read a man's entire past all at once would consume him. It would also take too long. It was important to find specific moments. That was what Zenma says, he was right. That poor women that he touched first almost wiped his sense of self. Zenma says that if he pulled a stunt like that one more time he would end up brain dead. Oddly these "exams" are safer then that metal bed. This place is hell.

Leonard thought about lying to Zenma. After all that man doesn't seem to have a mental power. It would do no good though. Zenma thought this all through. The people he sent Leonard are already known and accounted for. If Zenma caught Leonard in a lie, Leonard would be deemed unready and thrown back in the bed. He may be bluffing but Leonard feared that bed. Leonard prayed his powers were strong enough for Zenma. Thankfully they seemed to please the doctor.
Like a caged animal waiting for it's meal

Knock knock knock. The door opens and Zenma enters the room.
"How is my favorite subject holding up?"
"Could be better" replies Leonard. "These walls make for great conversations" As if on quo the women next door ushers in her final death scream.
Zenma carefully maneuvered into the room. He always keeps his distance from Leonard, his gloved fist capable of knocking back large objects at will.
"Yes... this cell would not do. I think it's time we found you better accommodations to fit a man of your stature"
Zenma drops a letter on Leonard's lap.
"What's this?"
"The letter says we are to be transferred. My superiors want to unseal the tunnel leading to the abandoned lab underneath Kras City. A team needs to set up a camp there, then determine how much damage the lab has sustained and if it can be operated once again. We only hope the plants have calmed down over the years. I volunteered for the first expedition. I petitioned for your release and you are now under my complete jurisdiction. Congratulations on your promotion!"
Hope the plants have calmed down? What have these people done?

 

As both Jess and Zach explained the situation we got a better understanding of it all, seems all stories matched up. Frost spoke
"Jumping to conclusions won't get us killed it will just mean others die for the wrong reasons, what will get you killed is assuming everyone's out to help you. Besides..... If we intended to kill them in the first shot it would have happened, we missed on purpose and those were warning shots"
I got to check on Locks and the third man speaks
"Get Away NOW!"
"Jet!"
Seems his name is Jet
"Listen, I'm just trying to help, i can burn that wound closed until you find a doctor. Also last time a checked Fire beats Air, and we aren't on good terms as it is, let's not make it worse"
Locks gets up and the collapses again, I walk over to him and look at the wound. It was a deep cut into him but wasn't length wise, no way Frost could have done this. Jess had tried sewing it up but i had a better idea
"This is going to hurt but burning the tissue and blood will close it temporarily while killing any bacteria"
"....There's a market district north of here that has a doctor. Find the building marked Doc Fred Clinic, tell them 'The Frosty Woman' sent you. they will patch you up"
As Frost gives instructions to Jess and Jet i close the wound.

After we instructed them we turned to our own group.
"Head home now, you have been in enough of a mess tonight"
"Get to bed and get rest, Atlas and Echo should be on their way back by now so fill them in on what's happened"
"Till you learn the city or strengthen your self's i suggest not going on any more night trips"
After talking with them i ask Frost what our next move should be.
"Escort them back"
"But what about the other hunter Zach mentioned?'
"We are on about 36+ hours of no sleep and the small dinner we had before searching, you really want to push your self while running on empty"
"...... You are right, but Frost"
"What"
"You need to work on your people skills"
"...."
She just stared at me with a blank face. On our way back i noticed something was off, she seem upset but didn't show it on her face or tone
