Exclusive: 1st Eureka Seven: Hi - Evolution Film's Dubbed Clip Shows Silver Box Weapon

Funimation to screen film in theaters in February with subtitles, English dub
FUNimation Entertainment shared an English-dubbed clip of the first Eureka Seven: Hi - Evolution film with ANN. The clip shows the activation of the weapon Silver Box.


Funimation will screen the film in theaters in the United States on February 5 and 7. There will be screenings in Japanese with English subtitles and with an English dub.

The first film in the trilogy opened on 107 screens in Japan on September 16, after making its worldwide debut at Otakon on August 12. In its first two days, it raised about 63 million yen (about US$561,137). The second film will open in 2018, and the third film will open in 2019.

Funimation describes the first film:

Ride the trapars and take to the skies once more! The revolutionary mecha anime from studio Bones returns for the first movie in a high-flying trilogy. It all begins with the story that was left untold—the earth-shattering incident where Renton's father disappeared. With the mysterious pilot Eureka by his side, only Adroc Thurston could undo his own mistake, sparking the event that changed everything and earned him the title of a hero. Now, ten years later, Eureka lies in critical condition as Renton leaves the crew of the Gekko. But when he finds himself in the care of his father's old friends, he has a choice to make. Either stay with the loving family he's always wanted, or earn the love he seeks.
The films show more of The First Summer of Love phenomenon that occurred a decade before the first Eureka Seven series. The anime franchise thus far has hinted at, but never depicted in full, "the beginning of it all." The films then have the same basic story as the first Eureka Seven series, but will have an original ending. The trilogy has completely re-recorded lines, redone footage, and new scenes.

For the Japanese version, Yuko Sanpei, Kaori Nazuka, Kouji Tsujitani, Michiko Neya, Juurouta Kosugi, and Aya Hisakawa are all returning from the original anime as their characters Renton, Eureka, Dewey, Talho, Charles, and Ray, respectively. Toshiyuki Morikawa is playing Holland, replacing Keiji Fujiwara from the original television anime. (Fujiwara was taking a break from his voice acting activities to undergo medical treatment for an unspecified illness, but revealed in June that he is slowly resuming work.) Tohru Furuya plays Renton's father Adrock Thurston.
