The 45th issue of Kadokawa's harta magazine announced on Thursday that Asaki Nakama will resume his Kanimega Dai Sessen! (Kanimega Big Close Combat!) manga in the next issue on July 15. The manga will run for a short time and head toward its finale.

The manga first launched in Futabasha's Moe Yon magazine, but switched to Men's YOUNG after the magazine ceased publication. The series later moved to Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara magazine, but went on hiatus in 2007. The 15th issue of harta published all existing chapters in a promotional booklet in 2014. At the time, the harta Twitter account announced that Nakama would draw the remaining chapters when he had free time, and they would be published in a compiled volume for the whole series.

The story of the four-panel comedy manga takes place at a school in a world where the humans and the penguin empire are at war. Nakama brought back elements from Kanimega Dai Sessen!, including the Penguin Empire, for his later series Mars Robot Wars and Daimidaler: Prince vs. Penguin Empire (Daimidaler the Sound Robot).

Nakama's Daimidaler manga inspired a 12-episode anime adaptation in 2014. Funimation streamed the series and released it on home video with an English dub.
