Those are just symphony arrangements. If you want a more specific term, I guess you could call them "choral symphonies" where they only have the chorus singing (for that first part) and the orchestra in the background. It's more of what is known as "Classical Music" where you use more traditional instruments (such as an orchestra) and chorus singing. But the blending of that and the rock there at the end is a newer style of music referred to as "Symphonic Rock". Which is a personal favorite of Square's, so you'll actually see them use it a lot.

So basically, "tl;dr", the first part is just Classical Music, but the whole thing, including the end, is called Symphonic Rock.

I actually like stuff that's classed as Goth THAT STILL DOESN"T COUNT AS MISA.) However, I wasn't particularly fond of nightwish. I don't mind them but still not my favourite.

I'm actually looking for new ideas but I'm all out because I'm fussy with music tastes. So your idea sounds perfect.

I would like to reply to myself to tell myself that this band may have caught my attention, but even then, the song that caught my attention was "Weak Fantasy." Also, there was "I Wish I had an Angel'. I guess the reason why I was so receptive to it was hearing the female singer. I had gotten tired of hearing other women on the radio, since they were mostly from the same pop songs over and over. Hearing the female singer from Nightwish was like a breath of fresh air, but I later learned that the female singers in that band get the most abuse. The band has one at a time, but each one eventually gets kicked out, with one being dismissed by the other members quite suddenly, something having to do with her having a different attitude because of her husband and commercial interests.
I guess that is something I like to hear in music: a woman with a feminine voice. And with a strong music sound to go with it, I like it even better.

I had been wanting to talk about music, but nobody had posted a thread about. Probably should have made this thread in the off-topic area, but I have my own little reason for deciding against it.
You refer to being out of ideas as to what to listen to? I came across a band called The Birthday Massacre. They did not bother me, but I only heard one album also. Is there a certain genre you prefer?

    @Kaede Kiriei

if you like Different style of music and appear to like Goth you should maybe try Falconer

They are not Goth but are from Sweden...

They are a Metal Folk/Power Metal band. The Singer has great clear Voice and the Guitar and drums are awesome.

    Few songs that I like

    Mindtraveller
    Upon the Grave of Guilt
    Wings of Serenity

Also Perhaps Rhapsody Of Fire AKA Rhapsody might interest you they are a symphonic power Metal band from Italy.

They love to tell stories through their songs about dragon's, Magic among other things....

They also have Christoper Lee (Saruman from LOTR) do some vocals on some of their songs

    Emerald Sword
    Power of the Dragonflame
    Holy Thunderforce
    The Wizard's Last Rhymes

But without really knowing your type of music you like its hard to suggest stuff.....

anyways try them out let me know what you think so if you dont like them I can suggest some different bands :p

I actually came across them to a few years ago and don't mind some of their songs. As I think Roy-blue explained, I like symphonic rock or stuff like system of a down, and Black stone cherry. I'm not sure what type of rock they would be under.

That sounds interesting. Next time I have free time, i'll be sure to check them out and let you know. I'm off to go help a friend's mother's house today. They have just moved in and I offered o help. XD

Unfortunately no one sounds like those guys they are quite a unique band.....

But fear not I have an alternative :)!!!!!

did you listen to Serj Tankian's (singer of SOAD) Solo albums? its a bit different but still good I thought..... and the Orchestra version of his songs are pretty awesome.

    Serj Tankian

    Empty Walls
    Sky Is Over
    Baby
    Harakiri

Also if you never listen to Mudvayne you could try them.

They are a bit more heavy then SOAD but still pretty good Their earlier stuff is a lot more heavy than their later stuff that's for sure

Earlier Songs by them More heavy

    Dig
    Death Bloom
    Under My skin

    Newer songs Less Heavy

    Not Falling
    Happy
    World So Cold

It's actually spelled Ievan Polkka, but of course Americans have to butcher other languages.

I was just curious, because Vocaloid songs are very diverse, seeing as they can be literally anything. Luka herself is known for singing in English, and she usually sings softer or more soothing music, but she can pretty much sing to pretty much anything the put her voice to.

What about you, Kaede, is Ievan Polkka your favorite song?

I've seen so many different spelling for it. So sorry that I spelt it wrong. I do not know why but that song is soo fri*king catchy. I can't get it out of my head.

Yep it's my favourite. I listen to all sorts of them. Vocaloids, covers, Anime covers, I listen to as much as I can.

You'd probably like Garth Brooks and Rascal Flatts they do very good country music.

The first Rozen Maiden opening is my favorite anime opening ever. If you haven't seen the Zurückspulen opening it's pretty good too.

Haha, I just don't like it when people perpetuate the lie on how it's spelled. But at one point in my life I was super into Vocaloid. I knew every expansion from Vocaloid 1 to 2. I also had a playlist of a little over 900 songs (some of them repeated titles but song by different people). I even knew most of the like 200 Utauloids by name (there are surely several thousands by now).

Needless to say, that absorbed a large portion of my life. But I stopped just short of Vocaloid 3 (just long enough to catch the starting-up Vocaloids' names). I have just been trying to get back on track, but I'm severely far behind now.

    Let's see...
Well, I got a dose of songs I like from the PSP version of a Hatsune Miku Project Diva game. All japped, though. I bothered with it for the songs. Eventually I bumped around until I found a music player on the game so I could play the music. It was mostly in Japanese, though, so I have no idea how to identify them.
There were some I remember, though. First one I ever heard was World Is Mine (Miku).
Others from that game I liked:
Cantarella (カンタレラ Kantarera?) (Miku and Kaito)
    Change Me (Meiko)
Romeo and Cinderella (ロミオとシンデレラ Romio to Shinderera?) (Miku)
    VOiCE -DIVA MIX- (Miku)
Double Lariat (ダブルラリアット Daburu Rariatto?) (Luka Megurine)

Interesting little thing: there is no restriction as to the character being used in the song. So you can replace Miku with Kaito. The voice does not change, though, just (theoretically) embarrases the poor guy by sticking him with a girl's voice and feminine dancing.

I heard Radioactive using Luka Megurine elsewhere.
Also, I tend to listen to a site called 8 Tracks. From there I choose Vocaloid playlists. I typed down the song titles somewhere...

As for a my favorite vocaloid (of the few I heard), I would choose Luka, a vocaloid intended to be bilingual.
Originally, she was supposed to have the name Hatsune Miku, but something changed.
Her voice is a rather smooth one, which is why I tend to like it. That, and the pitch is not too high.

That is just a demonstration of her voice, hence why I chose it.

    Personally, I find Miku's voice a bit squeaky, high-pitched.
