Comixology Debuts Harold Sakuishi's Beck, Seven Shakespeares Manga Digitally

Digital reading platform Comixology and Kodansha Comics announced exclusively with ANN on Thursday that it will debut Harold Sakuishi's Beckand Seven Shakespeares (7-nin no Shakespeare) manga on the service as Comixology Originals. Preview pages for both series are in the gallery below.

Comixology is debuting the first 14 volumes of Beck on Thursday, and volumes 15 to 34 will debut in the next year. Comixology is also launching the first four volumes of Seven Shakespeares on Thursday. Both titles are free to read for Amazon Prime, Kindle Unlimited, and ComixologyUnlimited customers, and volumes can also be purchased on Kindle and Comixology.

Comixology describes Beck:

BECK is the story of fourteen-year-old Yukio Tanaka. He has no hobbies, bad taste in music, and his shy and neurotic personality make him his own worst enemy. Little does he know that his life will be forever changed when he meets rocker Ryusuke Minami, an unpredictable sixteen-year-old with a cool dog named Beck. Ryusuke inspires Yukio to get into music, and the two begin a journey through the world of rock 'n' roll dreams!

Sakuishi launched the manga in the July 1999 issue of Kodansha's Monthly Shōnen Magazine, and ended it in 2008. Kodansha published 34 compiled book volumes for the manga. Tokyopop published 14 volumes of the manga from 2005 to 2008. The manga inspired a 26-episode television anime in 2004, as well as a live-action film in 2010.

Sakuishi launched the manga in Shogakukan's Big Comic Spiritsmagazine in December 2009, and Shogakukan published the sixth and final volume in 2011. Sakuishi launched a sequel titled 7-nin no Shakespeare - Non Sanz Droict (Seven Shakespeares - Not Without Right) in Kodansha's Young Magazine in December 2016, where it is currently ongoing. Kodansha will publish the manga's fifth compiled book volume on Friday.
