Abstained.

I haven't seen much of Dragon Ball, but from what I've heard, Krillin always becomes the butt of the joke as the sidekick, not a partner. Goku is the main star and has always stole Krillin's spotlight, according to word on the street. Doesn't sound very brotherly to me.

 

I like Yu Yu Hakusho and both these characters, but i don't see how their friendship can be better than Goku and Krillin's.

Goku and Krillin meet eachother in the original Dragon Ball series as students of Master Roshi. They become best friends, train together and fight in multiple martial arts tournaments together.


Their friendship continues as adults in Dragon Ball Z.


And later on in Dragon Ball Z when they are a bit older again, gotta include a picture with Krillin with hair. Point is, they are still best friends at this point.


And in Dragon Ball GT, looking back on what they've all been through together.

 

In the first series when they are children they fight side by side. Only the DB series is based on how strong Goku gets so at one point Goku (and his enemies) just become too strong for Krillin. Although Krillin still had a huge role in their trip to Namek, which Goku wasn't part of. Goku never stole anything away from Krillin, if anyone did, you can blame the author.

@Batosai said all that needed to be said, really. So thanks for that. Even though Goku moved onto astronomical heights of power in his training, while Krillin eventually plateaued, Goku never looked down on Krillin for it.

Urameshi and Kuwabara were great friends, and brotherly even, but Goku & Krillin's bond seemed much more closer.

Fun fact: Krillin is also named Kulilin, in the Japanese anime at least.

 

Well, maybe 'stole' wasn't the correct technical term. Krillin still seems more like a sidekick though compared to Goku. I can't see them as "brothers" on equal footing.

Round 1, Match 8:
Mashiro Moritaka and Takagi Akito - Bakuman - Batosai VS Mutta and Hibito Nanba - Space Brothers - Batosai



Let me give a little description of both duo's. I'm not sure how well known they are here. Especially the Nanba brothers.

Mashiro Moritaka and Takagi Akito meet eachother in high school and end up becoming a manga writing duo. Takagi writes the story and Mashiro draws the pages. The reason i nominated them is because they are so connected when they make their manga stories and actually reach something pretty big together while they both have their own talent. What more can i say, they are a great duo.

Mutta Nanba and Hibito Nanba (they are the 2 guys in the middle of the picture if anyone didn't get that) are brothers who dreamed of going to space together when they were children. When the story starts they are adults and Hibito is actually still pursuing that dream while Mutta is not. The anime is about Mutta becoming an astronaut and working towards still completing that dream with his brother. Trying to do this without spoilers.
They can be typical brothers, with fighting and arguing, but still loving each other. They have an incredible brotherly bond. I think telling more about them is going into spoiler territory.
I'm voting for these guys myself because i think their brotherly bond goes beyond the friendship and partnership Mashiro and Takagi have. But it's a difficult decission.

its backstory time

Kaoru is a brainy young man who moved during the summer of his first year in high school, from Yokosuka to his uncle's house in Kyushu. In fact, Kaoru has been moving from place to place ever since he was a little kid, a lifestyle that has made him introverted. But after Kaoru encounters Sentaro, he started to change, all while learning the joys of jazz. Kaoru has been familiar with classical music for many years and is quite the pianist, so naturally he's on piano.

Sentaro is a wild 1st-year high school student who meets incoming student Kaoru at Higashi High School. Sentaro is mistakenly thought of as a thug by his peers, who fear him. Though tall and gifted with prodigious physical strength, Sentaro is also straightforward and bighearted. He's the exact opposite of Kaoru, yet somehow they hit it off when Sentaro starts to share his boundless love for jazz. The drums are Sentaro's instrument of choice.

Sentarou's immeasurable love for jazz music inspires Kaoru to learn more about the genre, and as a result, he slowly starts to break out of his shell, making his very first friend. Kaoru begins playing the piano at after-school jazz sessions, located in the basement of fellow student Ritsuko Mukae's family-owned record shop. As he discovers the immense joy of using his musical talents to bring enjoyment to himself and others, Kaoru's summer might just crescendo into one that he will remember forever.
