Bleach Manga Goes on Hiatus Next Week Due to Illness

Manga creator Tite Kubo confirmed on his Twitter account that a new chapter of the Bleach manga will not run in the next issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, which goes on sale in Japan on Monday.

This announcement comes after Kubo reported, in a series of tweets that began on January 6, that he was not feeling well and had visited a hospital. He added that he had only drawn half of the new chapter's manuscript. He reported on Tuesday that he left the hospital after eight days and was heading to his studio.

Kubo began the final story arc of the series in 2012. Kubo has been drawing the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump since 2001, and Shueisha published the 66th volume this month. Viz Media will publish the 63th volume in North America next month.

Meh if he dies, as long as the identity of the soul king is known (which it should be if the first half of the manuscript is done), they could totally finish it without him. And possibly better. This last arc has been extended so many times it feels like if DBZ had 30 individual scenes of Frieza killing Namek villages. The dude gets nothing done in a chapter and then adds characters (the tumors of Bleach) like an std.
