    Hmm, this is a tough one. If I have to say the best, it would probably be more than one for me.

    I would say number one in my opinion:
    Paranoia Agent

    Then:
    Ghost in the Shell S.A.C.
    .Hack//SIGN

    After those two, in no particular order:
    Death Note,
    Durarara!!
    Haibane Renmei


    In terms of my favourite, I would say everything I have put as 9 or above on MAL, tbh.

    I don't have an single anime but a few for different reasons. Two in particular are:

    Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood for the emotional rollercoaster ride and an all round great show.
    Steins;Gate for making something so complex so easy and enjoyable to follow.

    It's a toss up between When They Cry and Steins;Gate for me. While I can think of some flaws in When They Cry, I honestly don't see any kind of flaws or problems in Steins;Gate, going so far as to call it perfect in a review I did of it (I don't have it anymore so I can't upload it), but I'm still not sure if I like it more then When They Cry.

    EDIT: Haha didn't realize I replied to this a while ago. Oh well.

    All my favorites are the really old school ones.

    Nothing will ever top LOGH (Legend of Galactic Heroes) though. That thing was a space drama epic in the truest sense.
