[Archived] Suggestions For Site Changes

I think that is only an issue if it's an anime sight. I don't think it's a problem posting links to anything besides rival anime sites.

 

The current ToS would stand by this.

I can see how posting links could be seen as advertising, but that's left to the discretion of JDO staff to interpret. As for @RazorzBlade 's suggestion, I'm not sure if that would be ideal for our site. It's a lot of work for not a lot of gain. I doubt many of our CMs would want to load up an Android emulator to upload anime for the site. I sometimes don't even want to fire up my web server virtual machine for site testing (hehe).

 

I do wish to clarify, you only need the emulator for a brief moment to "Claim" the 10tb of space. They have a web and desktop client. The reason you need the emulator is to install their mobile app. Kinda like dropbox will give you more space for installing their app on your phone. That's the only reason its needed, and unless you can read chinese its rather pointless to have the mobile app. They do however have a full English web client. I wasn't looking for everyone to only use it, I just figured a lot of people here have a lot of anime taking up hard drive space and a free 10tb would be useful.

 

Just want to let @Crazy Potato know about the different styles/themes for the site. I currently have Silver Station open atm. It's great, but again I can't see the text very clearly when I'm inserting a URL for images, or when I try to log in. I can see the text, but it is so unbelievably dark that I have to highlight it to read it. Will you make the changes to the colour of the text for those windows? I think this may also be an issue with the Classic Theme. I haven't tried using the features with the classic theme yet.

Otherwise, I really enjoy using it as the font size is bigger for everyone's post! Oh, and I've worked out why the pages load quicker with the different styles. It's because the adverts are hidden

 

If you're referring to the throwback theme, then I fixed that bug a long while ago, as it's one of the few themes I made (with Crazy's help of course). Even the Search area that gave me such a headache is readable now.

My version for JD Throwback is coming soon! I'm not gonna blaze through it like my other themes I'm gonna take my sweet time with this one as I can never let go of JD and the forums are in my head clear as day so I'm gonna mimic every little detail lol
I also want to know what is your opinions on the perks placed in the valentines day theme.
If you like the idea tell me more perk ideas!!!

 

I noticed that, but I wasn't sure what it was for. Could you explain what the point of the perks are? I need to talk to you in detail about a "special" theme though. It's going to be a lot of work, which I don't mind, but I'd love your opinion on it.

The point of perks are to make the site more active by making perks awards toward doing something amazing on the forums they are like trophies but way harder to obtain these include lighting effects, backdrops for normal users, fancy usernames etc.
This perks will give donators cool stuff as well to make worth donating.

well I'm using the current throwback. I like how it feels like old JD forums but also has the background and transparency of the old site itself. So it's really nostalgic in a lot of ways but it also looks nicer than the old forums.

 

I didn't even see the perks in the original theme.

@Crazy Potato for some reason I wasn't notified by the tag. Does tagging not work for you? And thank you for fixing the bugs!!

 

When you edit a post and add a tag in it won't work sadly. Spor is still thinking about using them off my themes (Need more ideas for interesting Perks) "JDO Default" was my first theme (edited by kiri) but it's for everyone and I can't edit that one without Spor's approval however I can use them in some of my themes like "Silver Station" is the theme I mess with the most.

Sweet. Now the default theme will have colors and staff backgrounds thanks to the staff perk.

you see that great void over there for the banner?


i was thinking if we could put a rotating signature like over there. we could use the monthly winners of the elims there or something about JD or SOTW/SOTM.

that space there has been bothering me since its so empty.

 

I personally like the lack of stuff there; makes it just feel less crowded to me.
