Aftermath

"Haha good to hear your on board and as far as backup goes Lieutenant Ely was just here a few minutes ago perhaps I can still catch up with him and see if hes interested in tagging along hes looking for the Commanders wife so what better place to look."

Sam hustled down the hallways and outside noticing the Lieutenant in the distance he ran up to him
Sam then explained the situation to him

"So I'll help you look for the commanders wife if you agree to help break in and help get those supply's. What do you say?"

 

Ely was about to head out when the doctor came up to him with the request.
"So you want to break into Central City's medical district?"
Ely thought about it, he needed to check in with the medical offices at the district anyway. Maybe they had information regarding Stacy Rodriguez. It was like stirring a hornet's though, easy enough to enter Central City but attempts to make out with their goods without paying was suicide at best.

"Sounds like a good way to kill two birds with one stone. We need to hide our identities, carrying big weapons around and wearing combat armor is a good way to make them think we're soldiers, they'll kill you for that. At least keep it somewhere safe before entering the place. We'll ask question regarding Stacy while simultaneously scoping out the district looking for weak points. Then when night falls we make our move. How does that sound?"

Now this was a mission that actually did something, not some pointless search and rescue that had no effect on their overall goal.

 

"Sounds good to me. We will be leaving tomorrow afternoon around 2 and we meet up right here."

Sam walked back inside and informed Sergeant Kai the news

"Just between me and you though I don't really trust Ely all that much just a certain vibe he gives off."

 

"Well, that's not a whole lot to work with, but...personally speaking, I've never been one to turn down a gut feeling."
After listening to Sam's explanations and his concerns about the Lieutenant, Kai stood up and started to make his way out of the room.
"Tell you what, I'll do a little digging up to see if I can find anything interesting in his records. I've got a few strings I can pull, should be pretty easy stuff. You said we're meeting up at 14:00, right? I'll try to catch you before then."
He gave Sam a quick wave goodbye, talking to himself under his breath as he wandered off.
"I know we're just doing recon, but...I wonder if I can smuggle a pistol inside? Kinda hate not having anything on me."

 

Logan took an involuntary sharp intake of breath when he saw the 2 raiders enter the building. It wasn't so much the raiders that shocked him, but the beautiful woman that they had with them in shackles. If there was one thing Logan knew, it was that she would be better off dead than in the hands of raider scum.
Logan decided right then that he would free her or die trying.
With his gun still leveled at the lead raider, Logan unsheathed his knife. He knew he would only have one shot to take them both out quickly and one mistake would be his undoing.
As the Raiders neared, Logan sprang into action. Although his railgun was VERY old, it was in perfect working order. His shot at the lead raider couldn't have been better aimed. s The raiders head vanished into a red mist, Logan vaulted the crumbled wall that he had been crouched behind knife in hand.
The remaining raider was starting to bring his gun up when Logan's knife buried itself to the hilt in his neck.
Taking a quick look around to make sure no other raiders were straggling, Logan pulled his knife from the raiders neck.
"Lady" Logan whispered "today is your lucky day. "

 

It was the day to head out to Central City. Ely didn't need much rest, he was pretty much psyched for the day.
This drug seems kind of weak today, I wonder if maybe the doctor lowered it's dosage? Probably, we are low on supplies

His equipment was only his assault rifle and some light bodyarmor. Anything heavier is just asking for trouble. If the others didn't meet up with him in 20 minutes then he'll head off to the city himself.
Or at least what's left of it.

 

Sam showed up coming from behind Ely
"Hello hows it going today?"
Sam had also brought along some light body armor, two pistols one on each of his sides, and a backpack filled with various good they might need along the way.

 

"Well enough considering the circumstances. I guess even people like you have to get personally involved in the missions."
Ely saw that the doctor was lightly equipped with two handguns and a backpack
"I hope for your sake you know how to use those doctor. Where's the Sargent? Stacy and the supplies aren't going to wait for him"

Ely was really starting to get a bad feeling.

 

Kai waved to his new traveling companions as he approached.
"Hey there, sorry for the wait. I was doing a little reading this morning and I lost track of time."
He carried with him his trademark sniper rifle, a pistol, a pair of binoculars, a few clips of ammo and a backpack with assorted supplies in it. He turned his attention to the man that he was unfamiliar with and gave him a quick salute.
"And you must be Lieutenant Longfield, am I right? Nice to meet ya."
He then looked over to Sam.
"So, what's the game plan for today, Sam? This was your idea so I figured you're probably gonna be the one calling the shots.

 

"Game plan Sargent? This is no game and I'm the highest ranking officer here. Central City is the main hub for the scavengers and merchants. If you're really planning on taking their medical supplies then you better keep better track of time!"

The Sargent should have differed to Ely first but that's not what bothered the Lieutenant. They have already wasted too much time, maybe the others weren't on the clock but he was.

"Doctor since your request crosses with mine I'll help you take the medical supplies but that is the limit of my involvement. When we get near the ruined city we'll need to convince the guards to let us in. So long as we act like scavengers ourselves they'll think we mean to conduct business. After all they're not raiders that attack strangers on sight. It's also why I told you to pack light so they don't get ideas."

After we make it inside we'll recon the area. Look for weak spots and find out information regarding Stacy Rodriguez. We'll also check out the medical district and find out what's a good place to steal their supplies. I need the doctor to determine which clinic is the best place to rob. Remember we're only a three man team against a city of scavengers. They won't take it nicely if they figure out our motive"

The easy part was getting in, the scavengers won't attack prospective customers.

"We'll play it by ear then and adjust accordingly. Remember the commander has forbidden us from trading with the scavengers. Technically they have stolen our equipment in the first place. We're only... taking it back.
Is that okay with you gentleman?"

Ely thought it would be but you could never know with some people.

 

"Sounds like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bunk this morning."
Keeping his thoughts to himself, Kai listened as Ely laid out their mission. When asked if he was fine with taking back their supplies, he nodded.
"If I wasn't okay with it, I wouldn't have joined up in the first place. If those scavengers think they can just take our gear and run with it, well...they've got another thing coming."
Just then, he remembered who he was talking to and stood at attention, speaking like a stereotypical new cadet on their first day of duty.
"I mean, I fully understand the mission parameters and I will follow my orders down to the letter or die trying, Lieutenant Longfield, sir!"
He couldn't completely hide his sarcastic smile.
"Is that more like what you were hoping for, Lieutenant?"

OOT: thought about merchant but I figured there should be a raider since there isn't one yet. Plus I like playing as a villain anyway. I'll post my intro later.

 

"Names Logan" he said to her as he worked on removing her shackles.
"Stacy" she replied.
Logan got the feeling she wasn't in much of a talking mood & he couldn't really blame her.
"You're more than welcome to come with me back to Central City" Logan said. "It's not much, but you won't have to contend with raiders there".
She nodded her head as he worked the shackles loose.
"The sooner the better" he said. "There's bound to be more raiders around. With any luck, we'll make it without seeing any".

 

Charming fellow. Does he patronize all his superiors like that?
"Very good, at ease."
It wasn't too far to Central City, in the old days it was a half a day walk. Of course the roads now were destroyed and any shelters found along the way could be home to raiders or wild beasts.

Attempting to strike up conversation Ely asked a practical question. One that would help him determine just how much he could rely on these two
"So how well can you handle your weapons?"

 

"Well if you two are done chatting I agree with Ely lets be off we have a lot of ground to cover."

Sam turned and started walking. You know I wonder if this was the best idea after all I barley know these two.. why would he ask if I know how to use my weapons

"So I just wanna say that I'm glad you are both coming along and all but I sincerely hope none of you have any ideas of double crossing me because I have no problem shooting either of you dead, Commanding officers or not. I would hope both of you feel the same."

 

Kai was taken aback when he heard what Sam had to say.
"Well...that escalated quickly, didn't it?"
He nervously tried to laugh it off, though it didn't do much to relieve the tension in the air.
"...And this is one of those lovely perks of being a sniper. I get to hang out behind everyone else...avoid any "direct confrontation."
He spoke his mind to nobody in particular.

 

"Aren't we a cheery crew. Doctor sees shadows in every corner, sniper plays the fool and the commanding officer is an asshole.
I think we'll get along just fine"

Ely knew he had to push these men hard, even if they hated him for it. He was tempted to tell the doctor to take the point but that would just make him more suspicious.

"I'll be the point man. The roads are a mess and there's a real chance some scumbag raider planted mines to screw with any unlucky bastard. You two trail behind me, I'll trust you shoot anyone that attacks me."

Ely moved up ahead out of conversation range.
I was never one for conversation anyway.

 

Sam walked for what seemed like forever without anyone saying a word. It was quiet except for the sound of some nearby hawks that had been circling some unknown dead prey.
Speaking to Kai "Think we will run into any raiders out here?"

 

Kai looked over to Sam briefly as he kept his eyes peeled for any Raider ambushes.
"Man, just about anything is possible out here. Hmm...I wish I had some high ground to work with, it'd make things a lot easier if we do get attacked."
He took out his pistol, spun it around on his finger a few times and put it back into its holster.
"I ain't too worried about it, though. If they come, they come. I'm a pretty good shot with just about any gun I pick up, so I'm sure we can take 'em."
He noticed that Longfield was keeping some distance from them and took it as an opportunity to talk to Sam in private. He spoke in a hushed tone, just in case the Lieutenant was listening.
"Hey...I checked that file this morning, there wasn't really anything interesting in it. His record's clean. Very clean, actually; the guy's totally a by-the-book soldier in just about everything he does. But personally, I'm still gonna keep an eye out for him. Sometimes those textbook soldiers are the ones that do the dumbest things, know what I mean?"

 

"Indeed."
Sam watched as the sun moved across the sky then started to fall
he then ran up to Ely "Should we make camp for the night and continue in the morning?"
