Abandoned

Rose sensed the screaming thoughts of a victim, torn to death by hideous wolf-like creatures.
I pity her. She failed in realizing that gun would attract attention. How she got that gun in this school, is beyond me. We have a weapon drop now.
Rose glanced at the tool Cody grabbed in lieu of a weapon. The nervous boy was shaking, holding the hammer up and ready to strike any creatures.
"..."
"Here."
Rose took the hammer from Cody and replaced with an electric chainsaw after deftly clicking a fresh battery into it.
"This should do better. No sense in using the little tools right now when there are these."
Cody looked at the grey chainsaw. He was unfamiliar with such a tool, and Rose pointed out how to turn it on and where the safety was.
"Use that only when you need to. It may be quieter than a real chainsaw, but it would likely make some noise."
Rose placed her hand on his shoulder as they walked.
"Don't worry like that. Thing will be better once we reach safety."
Cody looked up the girl that was taller than him. She gave Cody a smile, a reassuring smile that made him feel that things would actually turn out all right, as long as she was around. He felt himself blush, and he turned his head back down, averting her eyes. He felt funny.
"...Thank you."
"You are welcome. Now, stay on guard. Ugly surprises aren't so ugly when you are ready."
Rose resumed her watchful gaze for the next horror to come.

 

King turned around to see Akui was no where in sight. He assumed that Akui got out when the getting was good. King picked up the backpack and removed all of the heavy stuff. Any clothes were removed he only wanted the food and water. He dragged it by one of the handles over to the gym mats. Slowly rolling them he put at most 2 in the backpack. He also managed to fit 3 baseball bats inside of it. He stood up and threw the backpack over his shoulders when he walked to the door. That's when he heard it... The howls of a pack of wolves. He saw one as it stared over at the gym. In the Nick of time before the wolf could see him King ducked

"Fuck, I'm gonna have to wait to get back." he looked back up a few moments later and saw he was safe. He opened the door and sprinted back to the school. He made it safely to the doors and opened them up. Falling to the ground almost immediately after throwing open the doors.

Reganing energy he stood and he walked towards the cafeteria. He saw Jake, Kurt, and Stefan. King quickly turned the corner and stopped running to catch his breath. "Get back to the cafeteria. Both of you, otherwise you're going to walk into certain death. He is safe out here. I just came from the gym I could use some help hauling everything back and unloading. So get up and come with me now."

King finally started to walk to make sure Stefan and Kurt would follow behind him.

 

Kara froze as a distant scream reached her. Her eyes widened as she registered the horror and pain coming from whoever was being killed. Stopping and looking around gave her a new perspective on her situation. The dumbest thing that she could have done for her chances of survival; and she'd done it. All because of what? Some bizarre desire to be that savvy hunter? The one unafraid of everything? Or did she just want to see all of the gore spread everywhere.

Caught up in her internal monologue, she didn't notice Rose and Cody until she had just about walked into them. Startled she brought the knife and frying pan up into what she figured was a fighting stance.

 

Stefan's right eye twitched. He gave Kurt a worried look.
"So, uh...I don't suppose there's any chance we could just go back to the cafeteria, is there?"
"Nah. This sounds pretty important; we'd better get a move on."
Stefan sighed and slumped his shoulders.
"Didn't think so."
Kurt looked towards King and nodded.
"We're with you, let's go."
The two of them started to follow King to the gym.

 

"I suggest you ready your kitchen wares against something other than us."
Rose spoke to the newcomer without slowing down her pace, with little amusement to the stance the girl had taken on.
The girl was one that she had met a few times, and had wanted to have a few conversations with about science and biology, but never really remembered to make time for it when it was possible.
She sensed that Kara did not have any ill intent towards her. Cody however, increased the distance between himself and Kara, seemingly scared about something.
"...It's her."
In the past, he had a bad run in with Kara. In the end, nothing happened, but he was always wary of her. Waking up in a janitor's closet just as he was being dragged in scared him quite a bit.
He never reported it.
Rose regarded Cody's discomfort with a glance, able to tell that he was discomforted by a memory he had of Kara.
He is going to need some time to warp up to people.
"It would be wise to stick with us. We have a load of tools that will make good weapons, and we are trying to get them distributed. Care to tag along? It would be nice to have another escort for the workhorse that is in charge of the supplies."
She pointed over her shoulder using a thumb, referring to Jonathan.

 

"Sorry," Kara said without much meaning behind the word. She disposed of her pan but tucked the knife into her belt.
"I may as well," she said nonchalantly and proceeded towards the cart. Carefully digging around among the power tools she took a nice looking hammer and a sawzall.

She held the powerfully oscillating saw, already looking it had been designed as a weapon. It reeked of potential violence. A potential that made her grin. With her weapons chosen she joined Rose and Cody.

"After you then," she said with a small bit of satisfaction in her voice. At the back of her mind, she idly wondered why Cody seemed worried by her presence. She had waylaid plenty of male and female students back when she had first come to Second Chance. It wouldn't be surprising if he had been one of them. "It would have all been worth it if those idiots hadn't stolen my equipment," she mumbled angrily.
