For those who set their eyes on Jake, they'd see his body spasm in various different ways and positions, finally coming to a flat rest on his stomach with a sickening crunch that almost anyone would be able to identify as a bone being broken. The squirrel which had been embedded to his back seemingly fell off and he stood up, his shirt torn to the point wherein it simply fell off. Now however, there seemed to be bones branching off from the centralised spine, giving Jake an overall wider back. Furthermore, small yet thick needle-like points seemed to cover his back entirely as well as run up and down his arms. They each seemed to have a mind of its own, occasionally flickering outwards if not entirely retracting. He screamed out in pain, his voice echoing throughout the half of the campus he was currently located in.

Jonathan looked at Rose, completely dumbfound as to what to say... this wasn't like him. And he seemed to have forgotten about the whole mind shenanigans she had going on... "I-er-I... It's nothing, honestly. I just... Just some feelings..." He held onto the handlebars of the cart, pushing it forward slightly to test its weight, bearable.

After things finally quieted down, Ada slowly opened the door to her closet and removed the chair from under the door knob. She was still a bit on edge, not sure if everything was over, or if things were just getting quiet. She sat on her bed and let out a sigh. The closet was awfully cramped and she didn't know how long she had been hiding in there. I wonder what all that was about. She thought. She was curious to see what damage had been caused but wasn't sure if she should leave her room, or stay put in her room where it's safe. Thinking on it for a bit, she decided it would be best to look around a bit. Getting up, Ada left her room and headed outside.

King had made it further than Kurt and Stefan. with Akui trailing closely behind him. He turned around to talk to him. "So Why were you sent here to second chance Before this mess started. Cause right now all those who are alive are just survivors." Both Akui and King had passed by Jake by this point. When he looked at Akui he noticed he was looking at Jake for a moment.

"We'll come back for him later." they didn't see his body was starting to morph. Even if Akui May have had a feeling that something was going on with him. He turned a corner down a corridor to see the rooms Windows were bloodied. No signs of life could be heard and so they continued on down the path. During this time the lights inside of the school got sbut down all around the place. Everything got a lot darker.

Though He couldn't see Akui he had faith he was still behind him.

"Stay close. Something must have chewed through the circuit board. I wouldn't doubt something got in here in this weakened state. Plans haven't changed we are still going to the gym we need to get there quickly."

They continued walking. All conversations seized because they were listening for anything lurking in the darkness eventually they hit the end of the hallway and lucky for them it was still daylight out. However it was going down fast. They opened the door and went out 1 by 1 and went across the school to get to the gym. Upon reaching the doors with 0 problems they opened it up and looked around to make sure the coast was clear.

Upon entrance king stepped outside quickly and looked off in the distance. Someone was walking away from the school and from the distance you could vaguely see that he was limping. "Could it be? No. I'm probably just seeing things."

Turning back around he closed the door behind him and had Akui go in first.

"Looks like no one thought about this place lucky for us. Unlucky is the lights are out. do we have enough daylight to collect supplies? I know where the bats are. Coach trusted his star baseball player with knowing the keys location. "

King made his way to the weight lifting equipment and went into the office on the side of it. Reaching above the doorway he put his hand through a hole and grabbed onto the key.

He headed back to The equipment closet and opened it. The most they had for weapons was about 6 baseball bats. He also saw somebody put their hiking backpack in there for whatever reason.

"Hey Akui. Come over here. Tell me what you think."

Martin realized others were leaving, moving around, doing SOMETHING constructive.
He shyly, somewhat reluctantly but determinedly got to his feet, swallowed the last of the bread roll, and headed out of the room. Maybe he'd be able to save someone.
He didn't know where any of them were going, though - so he decided to be helpful in his own way and maybe get some blankets from the rooms, thinking the cafeteria would be a good base. He headed off towards the dormitories, shooting scared glances over his shoulders every few feet.

From the moment King had come for her and Sarah, Kara had fallen into a detached state. Things happened around her but her body and mind felt frozen, blocked off from all emotions. In all honesty it felt good.

She followed King, while ignoring Sarah's fearful blubbering about her crush, to the cafeteria. They picked up two other students on the way, the one-armed Akui and some guy named Edwin. The whole way she'd been studying as much as she could about the event. Bodies, deaths something about mutated squirrels. She'd found a spot in one of the back corners of the slowly filling cafeteria. It may have been a nightmare outside of the large room, but inside the other students were attempting to make things feel somewhat normal, to delude themselves that nothing had actually changed. Despite her melancholy mood, a harsh laugh bubbled up from deep inside her at the thought of that.

Idly she scratched the back of Ratcliffe's head in her pocket and considered what to do next. Meanwhile next to her Sarah was a babbling brook with no sign of stopping any time soon. Kara let out a long sigh as she struggled to tune the other girl out.

"Why is King leaving?" Sarah blurted out in a panicked voice as she pointed to the other side of the cafeteria. Kara simply shrugged. "We need to go with him. He's going to protect us! He said so! How can he protect us when he isn't here?"
"Why don't you go after him then?"
"But... I... But you... I..." Sarah had already stood up and was pacing in a small circle back and forth. She wasn't doing very well at the moment.
"Better get going before he gets too far away," Kara advised slyly. "Who knows, this could be your best moment to win his heart."

Not needing any more encouragement in her current state, Sarah quickly rushed for the main doors. The small group that was defending them quickly grabbed her and kept her away from her goal. No matter how much she told them that she had to go with King, none of them would listen. Dejected and on the verge of breaking down after the sudden trauma of the day, Sarah returned to where her and Kara had been sitting only to find the other girl had vanished.
"Kara?" She called out to the din around her. "Kara, where are you?"

Kara rummaged through the drawers and cupboards of the kitchen. A lot of the students had already ransacked the place so not much was left. There were no knives left and she seriously doubted that a fork would be as effective a weapon. So that left her with the trays that they ate their meals on and the odd iron frying pan she found gathering dust. She set the pan on one of the stainless steel table tops and also brought over one of the trays. Finding some more materials she was able to make a makeshift shield from two of the trays and a combination of duct tape and twine. Testing the construction she guessed that it would probably take a few hits before falling apart. Which left the frying pan as a combination weapon and shield. After reinforcing that as best she could, she turned to the back door out of the kitchen.

It wasn't that she particularly wanted to leave the safety of the large group. The animal part of her mind was relaxing and she felt the cold sheen of adrenaline fading. She knew that if she stayed here she'd relax again, relax and lose her edge. With a glance back into the throng of bodies clustered in small groups and solitary students, she spied Sarah glancing around forlornly and hugging herself. The drugs and therapy sessions had truly helped that girl. She'd become a normal person, as far as Kara could guess at the term anyway, and seemed to be enjoying the new her. Unless of course she was in hiding, just waiting for the right moment to emerge.

With an uncaring shrug, she unlocked the back door in the kitchen and once again stepped back out into the nightmare world that Second Chance had become. It reminded her a lot of a horror video game series that prided itself on it's challenging puzzles and combat. The name escaped her at the moment. As the unlocked door swung shut behind her, Kara set off into this demented wonderland with a sadistic grin on her face.

    ***************************************************

Felix let out a frustrated growl as he had to backtrack once again due to some bizarre monstrosity lurking before him. All he saw were those weird squirrel like things, but there were others that sounded larger. What they could be he had no clue but his imagination was only too pleased to fill in the details he didn't have. The incredibly loud scream that echoed through the halls and seemed to actually shake the walls was more than enough to turn him around in the other direction. The lights cut out as he crept forward and his fear propelled him towards the nearest glow from a fire exit. Banging open the push door he emerged into the deceptively warm mid morning air.

Now what? Where do I go, what do I do? Why am I being such a damn coward?

Breathing hard he walked out into the nearest open space. Finding a rock with a sharp enough point, he picked it up and without thinking jammed the tip into the side of his thigh. Pain filled his mind and he clenched his teeth for the few moments until it subsided. Removing the rock he dropped the bloodied thing to the ground. The wound itself wasn't too deep, but it was enough. His mind cleared somewhat of the fear that had been consuming him. It was time to man up and be the man running towards the screams instead of just running. Taking a deep breath he turned back towards the main building. He still had to find Kurt and anyone else and make sure they were okay.

Cody nearly made it to the top the gate, when for some stupid reason, he slipped. He was able to keep himself from falling all the way down, but he was back to the bottom. The squirrel was working it's way out of the balled up jacket, much to Cody's dismay.
Gotta climb faster! Gotta climb faster! Gotta climb faster!

Rose had thought he had spoken to her. She realized that maybe that was not the case, that those were probably thoughts rather than speech.

I need to differentiate between speech and thoughts now. I need to know if anyone else is having the same problem.
"I need to know, Jonathan. Are you hearing any voices? Unspoken ones? I keep hearing them, and I know I can't be insane, because I have been right whenever we find people."
    Rose was getting worried.
And her head persisted in aching.
    And the voices wouldn't stop.
If only she could filter out the unnecessary voices...

Stefan hugged the wall tightly, clutching his head and breathing heavily.
    "Wha...what...what was that?"
He spoke in barely a whisper, shaking like a leaf after he heard that deafening scream.

Kurt turned to Stefan just long enough to respond, still keeping a close eye on Jake.
"I don't know...just get ready to run, alright? He's kind of...I mean, I'm just not sure if there's much of him left."

    "It's really that bad?"
Kurt looked back to Jake as he whispered under his breath.
    "Yeah. It's that bad."
He then cautiously stepped away from the corner-- far enough to get away if he needed to but close enough for Jake to hear him-- and called out.
"Talk to me, man. Is that still you in there or not? Whatever happened, whatever that thing did to you, we can work this out."
A bead of sweat rolled down his back as he tightened his grip on the knives in his hands. He wasn't sure if Jake was even human anymore or if he'd somehow been turned into one of those creatures. The thought of it made him sick to his stomach.
"Can you hear me? Say something...anything."

    Name: Marcus Helix
Nickname: Father, due to his priestly garb
    Sex: Male
Age: 18 after hop, skip, and jump
Personality: He likes to talk big and tries to be the word of advice. Irregardless of whether his advice is any good or not.
Appearance: He keeps his hair close to his scalp and wears a black outfit with a white collar. (Priestly outfit)

Marcus emerged from the dorm room and into the world he had been hiding from as he sought to compose himself. Moving down the hallway he kept himself alert for any other student. If any were still alive, they'd be wandering aimless through this devastation, uncertain of what to do next. A perfect time for him to help those in desperate need of a guiding light.

A door opened in front of him and a female student stepped out into the hallway. She appeared to be rather shaken.
"Hello, my child," Marcus said in a warm voice. "Are you injured?"
Smiling kindly he waited for Ada's reply.

Ada turned her head and looked at the person who spoke out to her, but quickly averted her gaze to the ground. "Y-yes. I'm fine." She said quietly, nodding. "Just a little shaken up and stiff is all. I was hiding in my closet the entire time." She told him, trailing off at the end. After a bit she began walking down the hallway, looking back at the man. "I-I want to look around the school, see what exactly happened. You can join me, if you want."

Jake huffed, taking a deep breathe as the pain of the transformation he just went through came rushing to him, all at once, then settled. He bent his neck to both sides, clicking it each time before turning to where the voice came from, a predatory look in his eyes.

Jonathan shook his head, unknowing what she meant. "The only voice I seem to be hearing in my head is that of yours. O-other than that, there's nothing..." What's happening to her?

Melanie turned at the sound of the door, walking forward regardless of whoever came out - she wasn't going to return to the cafeteria without the few supplies she had in her room, "Hey there..."

Beatrice could feel the toxin starting to wear off. She started to wiggle her toes and started to clench her fingers in hopes it would make it wear off quicker.
    "Hu...rr...y..." She slurred.

27X.R.V could hear the chattering voices below her. She finally found an opening and poked her head out of what appeared to be a vent opening. The door seemed to collapse catching the squirrels attention.
"So then, That's what made those weird noises. Well, ain't we an ugly fellow. The hell are you anyway? Squirrel from hell?" She started shooting. Damn this school is messed up, she thought to herself.
"I love it! Bring it on!" She smirked continuing to fire.

He's not hearing anything? I guess it's just me then.
"Let's get back to the cafeteria. Nobody is left in this area."
Rose began helping with pushing the cart back.
"If you don't mind, please, don't tell what I asked to anyone. I don't want anyone to think anything about it."
I wonder if this was the reason why I was in that lab. Was this what they intended? I'm unsure if I even have parents.
    Rose frowned in worry.
What's worse, I don't think I was the final product. Something bigger must have been in the works.

The pack circled the school walls, hearing the shots being fired, their alpha ahead.

Each wolf, excluding the alpha, had slick cheeta like bodies; each designed to be agile and hard to spot. As they neared the walls, they reared backwards, temporarily taking a bipedal stance as their front paws took a humanoid figure, claws sliding out of the tips. Their eyes kept darting around, surveying every little action.
They dug their claws into the wall, hoisting themselves up in a single motion, and landing gently before getting as low as possible.

The alpha wold on the otherhand, gave literally no cares. It confidently moved towards the wall, its burly body seeming to tense as it threw itself against it. Bricks were launched all around as it stalked in. Unlike the other wolves, the alpha seemed much more humanoid. It took the bipedal stance the others had once took and instead of falling back down, kept up.
The pack moved towards where the gunshot came from - 27X.R.V - quickly surrounding the area and moving in; the alpha continued following, watching from afar.

Cody slipped again, and was getting tired. He never really got much exercise in, and now he regretted it. He heard gunshots coming from the school again. He looked over to where the squirrel had been bound, and it looked like it was worn out.
Cody took a break, trying to let his arms get some strength back into them. He began to wish that the lock and mechanism of the gate would open and let him get out of this tight space. He imagined the shafts slipping out of place, the hydraulics pulling the gate back, and the inner workings that would let him out.

    "...?"
The gate gave a click, and slowly slid open, just enough for him to get out.
Cody cautiously poked his head out, looking around for who unlocked the gate. For some reason, he felt... discharged.

    "..."
All he saw was blood. Bones. Gore.
Cody was already tenses enough as it was. He shrank back into the little gap, thinking that maybe it would be better to stay here with the squirrel.
He changed his mind when the squirrel popped out of the jacket.

    "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!"
    This was his limit.
    Again.
He popped out of the small exit, with a squirrel hot on his heels. At least he was thin and weak, rather than fat and weak. He would have been attacked by now if that was the case.
Cody sprinted across the park and to the school, screaming the whole way. The inner gate shut on its own just seconds after he got out of the gap. Maybe there would be someone to stop this squirrel from chasing him. Just before he reached the doors, he saw an animal that reminded him of a wolf come over the wall.
This wasn't going to be good.

When the creature looked towards him, Kurt had already moved around the corner back to where Stefan was, only poking his head out to keep an eye on...whatever he was looking at. Whatever it was, it definitely didn't seem human anymore. The feral look in its eyes was all Kurt needed to see to be convinced of that. He ducked his head behind the corner and whispered to Stefan.
    "On my go, run."

He said it in such a calm, matter-of-fact way that Stefan wasn't sure if he was being serious or not.
    "Are...are you--"

    "Run!"
Kurt took off towards the cafeteria with Stefan following closely. The two ran as fast as they could, with Kurt occasionally looking behind to make sure the creature wasn't following them. When they were a safe distance from "Jake," they made their way inside the cafeteria and made it a point to lock the door behind them, both breathing heavily as they slumped to the floor. After catching his breath, Stefan was the first to speak up.
"Was...was he still there? What happened to him?"

    Kurt shook his head.
"It was him, but...it wasn't. I don't know what that was, but...I think the guy we're looking for is gone now. That...thing is all that's left of him. It barely even looked human anymore."

Stefan clutched his head, shaking in terror.
"What's going on here, man? I can't take this anymore."

Kurt patted him on the shoulder.
"I know, it's pretty messed up. But we're not dead yet. Call it a gut feeling but I think we can make it through this nightmare somehow."

Cody burst in through the doors, and rammed straight into Rose and narrowly missing her escort/pack mule. Rose was slammed into the wall, her PDA slipping out of her pocket when she landed on the ground.
"I, uh, sorry!" Cody frighteningly whispered to her.
"Ouch, calm down. That isn't going to help you any." Rose responded, rubbing the right side of her head. "You should stick with us, we are heading to the cafeteria. You should grab a tool to protect yourself with."
Cody began to look when Rose cued him to. He saw her PDA, and impulsively grabbed it and, for no logical reason he could fathom, sucked on it.

"Hey! That's mine! Don't do that!" Rose snatched it away, and checked her PDA for damage.
    "..."
Her PDA was a hardened device, intended to take on abuse, so water damage would not be a major issue, much less if it was in someone else's mouth. But when she turned it on, the screen showed a drained battery before blinking off. Her PDA was fully charged less than an hour ago.
"I- I'm sorry. I don't know why I did that. I felt tired, but not anymore after doing that. I think it gave me a jolt." Cody meekly spoke while pulling a hammer out of the crate.
"Well, enough strange stuff has happened today. I'll let it slide, for now."
Rose could sense the fear in Cody, and understood a new threat has appeared.
Poor boy. This is so very frightening for him. People were already hard enough for him to handle.
"Jonathan, we'll need to hurry up. I think a new creature has introduced itself to the corpse party."

"Ahh shhh! What kind of a messed up school is this?" 27 X.R.V asked herself.
She could tell she needed to stop shooting for the time being.
"I need to get out if this and down there. Sh*T!" She quickly bridged it over the opening and continued to crawl though. Hoping to fine a new vent opening or somewhere safer.

The wolves surrounded their victim in a matter of seconds, their mouths salivating heavily. The first of them launched forwards, their speed unmatched by even the most athletic. They pinned down X.R.V, the rest moving in closer and sniffing at various parts of her body. And then, the biggest one - the alpha - took a bite. A clean crunch emitting as the jaws lock shut. Little known to the victim, their saliva had a necrosis effect, quickly spreading around the wound and killing off the cells. The next bite finished her off, biting straight into her jugular and rupturing it. Within moments she would be dead. The pack came closer, blocking off all view. When they finally moved away, there was nothing left.

One of the smaller wolves raised its snout up, its ears perking. A distant male scream - Cody. Time for the next hunt.
Similarly, a part of the group detached, heading towards the sounds of Kurt and Stefan.

Jake ran after the voice, still lost as to what happened. He just knew that there was someone he knew running from something... was it him?

Jonathan nodded, pushing the cart forward, "Let's get going then. If we can help him out on the way, it'll be good."

"So...what do we do now?" Stefan asked Kurt hesitantly, hoping the answer would be along the lines of "stay here where it's safe." He would be sorely disappointed by Kurt's response.
"I've gotta go back out there."
    "What?! You've gotta be kidding!"
    "Afraid not."
"But what are we supposed to--"
Stefan trailed off as Kurt shook his head.

"We're not doing anything, man. You're gonna stay here with everyone else."
"But...but what if you're walking into a death trap?!"
"Then I need to make sure that whatever's out there doesn't get in here!"
Stefan was taken aback back Kurt's uncharacteristically loud outburst. Kurt continued, staring intensely at Stefan to make sure the message got through.
"Look, I don't know what's gonna happen, okay? Maybe I can...take care of him and everything will be fine. Maybe there's still something left of Jake and I can still get through to it. Maybe I'll just end up dead. I don't know...I just don't. But I know that I'm not gonna let you or anyone else die because of me. I've got enough blood on my hands. I gotta draw the line somewhere."
He walked out the door and slammed it behind him, leaving a clearly shocked Stefan in stunned silence.

As Kurt slowly, calmly, cautiously walked down the halls, for a second he thought he could hear the howl of a wolf in the distance.
"Might be trouble. 'Cause I clearly don't have enough of that right now."
He quietly muttered to himself, his sarcasm lost to the wind in the empty hallway. He kept his grip on the knives on his hands, knowing he might just need them soon. When he was running with Stefan, he could have sworn that he saw Jake running after them. In the back of his mind, he couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if Jake caught up. Was Jake reaching out for help or for his next meal? He shuddered at the thought and pushed it out of his head quickly, knowing that he would have to steel himself for whatever came next. Sure enough, as he turned down the next hall, he found himself face-to-face with Jake. Unlike last time, Kurt was now standing in plain view in the middle of the hall, looking Jake in the eyes.

"There you are. It's funny...in the middle of all this craziness, I never did catch your name."
It was almost eerie how calm and stoic Kurt looked and how casually he spoke, even as he secretly formed a plan of attack in his mind. He tightened his grip on his weapons, a cold look in his eyes as he prepared for the worst. If Jake really had become nothing more than a mindless beast, then only one of them could walk away from this. He still hoped to get through to Jake but he was prepared for the worst if he couldn't.
"What's your name, buddy? You still remember it, right?"
